Jumpy Conics... Any workaround?

Recommended Posts

So I have a large, vital piece of my space program en-route to minmus. Everything has gone to plan so far but the conics are jumping around so much that I can't place a node on the intercept burn reliably. I've tried a couple of burns in a few directions to see if it will lock in, but to no avail, and I'm on a bit of a shoestring dV budget.

Does anyone know how to stop this?

It's floating points I'm afraid, you can reduce the jitter a bit though by turning SAS off and by adjusting the delta timer in Settings, more to the left is more accurate but more CPU intensive, I wouldn't increase it too much.

Timewarp will "lock" your orbit in place, allowing you to more easily set up manoeuvre nodes. But the jitter will return when you leave timewarp. The problem can be reduced by making smaller and stiffer spacecraft.

Ah yes.. That explains a lot. This craft is a large thing. not exactly wobbly but there's probably a bit of movement. I managed to get it in manually anyway :)
