problem: too much parts

Recommended Posts

I'm having trouble putting in orbit a group of satellites that are supposed to go up together because of the high number of parts (playing on laptop, not the best of hardware).

Is there any mod that tells the game to consider the fairings and everything inside it as a whole solid unit? that way it will count just as 1 part and my poor processor can handle it better :D

I guess I could fake this by putting a placeholder item of the desired weight inside the fairing and then edit the payload in orbit, but that feels more like cheating and less like working around poor hardware :).

PS: I know about UbioZur Welding Ltd. Continued but there are a lot of decouplers/antennas/other incompatible stuff, so it will be a pain to set it up using that

Hangar might help you out.

As for Welding Ltd, remember you don't have to weld the whole ship, you can pull off fragments of it. I find it very useful for fusing multiple resource storage devices into one, e.g. 2 batteries, 4 monoprop tanks, and a fuel tank which behaves as a single component with storage for those three resources.

Welding still helps a lot. The QBE or OCTO2 cores are good candidates for welding stacks of batteries to. Maybe even integrate an RCS tank, LF/O tanks and linear RCS thrusters on the end along with a reaction wheel.

I like to make (4) stock sizes of welded QBE probe cores with varying amounts of battery capacity. The monster-sized one with 40k energy storage is what I use on space stations to act as a truss for attaching the large solar panels.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into it.

And regarding welding, I have put together a set of 8 satellites that will scan the Joolian system (using scansat) and I feel there's not much I can weld together. But I haven't tried yet since I was hoping to find a quicker solution :D

PS: I love you! that's perfect

Even if they don't have fairings (which I haven't check yet) I can just add the module to the fairings I use with a cfg file. just perfect
