Lubo to awesome community,

After watching so many youtubers like Scott, robbaz and so on i found out that that many awesome mods dont work on the latest version of KSP(0.90)

Im quiet new here, have round about 70 played hours and just took a surface sample from duna back to kerbin(very proud)

I know many of mods are for more experienced players and some some of the mods which would make the game more interesting to play r for newbies like my to much to handle for the moment.

To get to the point.

is it smart to wait right know for mods like, KW rockerty, interstellar v2, which right now r only comparable to 0.25( as far as i know), to be eplayed with 0.90?

anyways isnt the v1.0 about to be released? and then u can forget all about these mods again?

Would be cool to have an simple overview about mods for newbies/pros refering to the game version as well as game fun, looks and so on.

And it goes Boom Boom Boom, even brighter then the moon moon moon :) - love that song since >the interview< :)

If you haven't visited every body in the planetary system, forget Interstellar for right now. That is a rather complicated beast, very fun, but very advanced. It's really something to add when you start getting bored with the game, it gives it new life. KW Rocketry is a part pack, so it should work fine. Part packs don't necessarily go obsolete with each version of KSP unless they heavily rely on plugins for various functions (like parts that require Firespitter).

Delta V:

As for an overview for newbies. Get something that shows you Delta V. I have no idea why the stock game doesn't have that yet. Delta V is a meter of how much effort it takes to accomplish tasks, like getting to orbit or transferring to another planetary body (typically expressed in meters per second or m/s). You can see the Delta V required for each maneuver node in stock but strangely it won't tell you how much delta V you have in your craft. I personally prefer Kerbal Engineer make sure you get version 1 and not 0.6. other options include MechJeb and VOID.

Then you can use a Delta V map like the image found here to get a rough estimate of how much you need to do anything, but be warned it is an estimate as piloting skill and other factors may change it slightly. With Engineer you can see how much dV your craft has in each stage while constructing it, and how much it has left while flying it. One other thing, because the amount of dV required changes based on gravity and atmospheric resistance, most dV maps are for KSP are simplified to readings at Kerbin sea level. Engineer lets you choose the body, but in most cases you want it to say Kerbin. Though you will want to change to body to see your Thrust to Weight ratio so you can make sure your return craft will leave the ground.

Mission Tracking:

Kerbal Alarm Clock - enough said.

Those are the only two I personally consider absolutely required. There are tons of other great mods, some I won't play without, but without those two I simply wouldn't want to play at all.

Welcome to the KSP community! :)

It depends. Mods which only adds parts but no plugins will work. Mods which adds plugins (to alter the games behavior) may not work in the current version. Read the forum threads where a user may have reported if they still work.
anyways isnt the v1.0 about to be released?

I guesstimate it'll take a few more months until 1.0 is released. So you can "safely" mod your game and play it for some time.

and then u can forget all about these mods again?

Again it depends on if the mods ship plugins. They may break on a new KSP version but it could also be that they work. Part mods should work but there can be balance issues (too powerful, too weak, too cheap, too expensive, etc.). We can safely assume that nearly all stock parts get rebalanced for 1.0 so part mods could need a rebalance, too.

Would be cool to have an simple overview about mods for newbies/pros refering to the game version

In this thread mods which are reported to work with the current version are marked. The other ones ("soon") are created for a previous game version and may work with the current one.

There's no thread about which mod looks "better" because tastes differ.
