Why is the probe not turning anymore?

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty sure I could turn it when I launched it and set it up for a close swing-by of the sun. I left it for ~70 days and now when I've opened it again 8 days from periapsis, I can't turn the craft at all. When I'm not touching any keys it says that there is not enough electricity, when there clearly is:

and when I am touching one of WASDQE it says the reaction wheel are running but nothing happens:

Any ideas what has happened, and if there is a way of solving the problem?

(Also the probe is facing the wrong way so I'm actually nearly 180 degrees off of the target. It's the only probe body in the craft so I doubt there's a way I can fix that)

like i said the probe needs solar panels to get electricity (engines also provide electricity but only when running).

Did you even checked the images he posted? The probe has 4030 ElectricCharge and 2 gigantor XL solar panel correctly deployed. The problem is NOT about electricity, most likely a bug.

Would having it disabled result in a different message about status (currently reads operational).

Just for the hell of it, try cntrl-F12 and hack unlimited fuel on/off, that might kick it back on for you, nothing to lose there.

That is weird, there's no reason why that shouldn't turn.

- It has power

- the wheels are enabled

- the mass, while high (KER says about 8 tons), is all centered around that wheel

- No timewarp

- Input is working (visible lower left)

I would try toggling the wheel as Kryxal said, and then try toggling SAS itself (maybe SAS is being derpy? I've had some SAS bugs since 0.90 dropped, although they're usually of the opposite sort, like the wheels work fine, but SAS won't use 'em at all), if that fails, restart KSP.

The only odd thing I see is the very high orbital speed (kraken attack?)... the only places you'd normally see that sort of speed is when dipping low in solar orbit, say on route to Moho.

The flickering operational/not enough electric charge is due to bugs in the "new and improved" resource flow system introduced in 0.23, which is actually worse than the system in 0.22. :/

The very high orbital speed is appropriate, it seems ... the periapsis is VERY low in solar orbit.

Another fun idea, you're using the big panels and are at a third the distance of Kerbin - what happens if you close them for a minute?
