It is a ram intake, I borrowed the idea from one of Soundwave's videos.

Ah, I watched that right after I saw this video since it was in the panel with all the videos after the video. Also maybe a V-22 Osprey with Infernal Robotics and Kerbal Aircraft Expansion? It likely won't work well but it would be awesome to see.

I'm trying to keep it all stock atm but will maybe do some modded replicas in the future.

Nice job!  I should've said before not to watch Soundwave's video on the F-18 though..  You definitely used his technique right, but it's somewhat blatantly copied, with the 1.25-.625 cones to blend the angles from engine to intake, and the ram air intake to beef the spine.  It does look good, and you're doing good with offset and rotate, using different parts to your advantage, but it is a bit, unfortunately, too similar to SoundWave's.

I would suggest next the F-14, use lots of reference pics.  It'll be cool to see your style moreso when you're forced to design it yourself.

Also, the F-18's landing gear are a bit too far back and too low.  I would look into Bahamuto's adjustable landing gear again, like I said before.  Stock gear just don't cut it :P

Good luck!

Well, with low part count things, there's not really much choice to make things a bit different, naturally it'll look quite similar.

Like ThingyMajigy said, it being the same aircraft it will naturally look similar. Really I only borrow the idea of using the tail connector and the ram intake, and did the rest of it without influence from his video.
