Thread rating stars? It's a function this forum software has, though I've never seen much point to it, myself. The number of them displayed is the average of the ratings people have clicked to give the thread.

Do you mean the dot to the left of the thread title in this image?

I assume that you're referring to the blue dots on the left of a thread?

A blue dot means that you have not replied in the thread nor read the most recent post.

A blue star means that you have replied in the thread, but have not read the most recent post.

A grayed-out star/dot means that you have read the most recent post.

The lock icon means that the thread has been locked by your friendly neighborhood moderator, so you can't reply to it.

The arrow means that the thread has been moved to another subforum.

Hope this clears up a few things!
