Cannot place maneuver node when I have an encounter

I am in solar orbit and I have a Duna encounter. Great. Except I cannot place a kod damn maneuver node on the blue orbital line, it only wants to be placed on the purple line.

 Anyone know how to avoid this BS?

OK this seems to be a known bug and I found a solution. Place a node on the purple line and then grab it and move it to the blue line. Phew.

 So folks if you have that issue that is the fix. lol. Oh KSP how I hate love you..

Yeah that is a steamer of a problem...

Found this thread looking for a bug-thread about the problem where a maneuver node cannot be placed without quicksaving/reloading when first hitting orbit (or around a new parent body).

               ^-- cannot believe this bug persists...
