FAC Minair - Turboprop Jet Engine

From the Minair Opening:

'We at Minair and our parent company, Fabricated Avionics Co., are completely committed to the advancement of aerospace technology, and to the continued research in practical solutions to today\'s problems.'

Today, 2 months and 16 billion Kerbollars later, Minair is proud to present the JA-1 Turboprop Jet Engine!

Here it is seen on the standard atmospheric test vehicle (SATV)

It is a very fuel efficient jet engine, perfect for atmospheric flight, as presented below with a modified SATV, now with ASAS.

It is very capable of holding atmospheric flight with ASAS, as it has a small but useful gimbal range. It also has some welding scorch marks for a kerbal, but still professional explosion environment. In addition to these features, it also has some textures as drawn by a 5 year-old.

But that\'s not all! It also comes with a propeller on the rear-end for some extra propulsion, driving the maximum speed at 6000m from 350 to 400 m/s!

But wait! We still aren\'t done. Due to an error in manufacturing, the following is possible without any hard points or other adjustment parts.

CAUTION: The engine does not survive the pad. It must be suspended above the pad in some way, shape, or form. Thank you!

I ask your forgiveness. :(

I looked up the turboprop before naming it, and named it the Turboprop Reverse Fan. I understand your objections, and I again ask your forgiveness.

It is meant to attach on a wing, and i am developing a fuel tank that has an air intake, but I thought I could release the engine now.

Yes, updates are on their way. I\'ve already redone the textures to reduce the possibility of someone gouging their eyes out. The new palette makes more sense for aviation. I\'ve also fixed the problem with moving it after putting it down. I am also working on a new forward mount fuel tank so it looks more like the engine it was supposed to be, and to allow it to have fuel lines connected to it. I\'m not going to release it until the fuel tank is done, but that shouldn\'t be for a little more than a week.

Edit: I also removed the flames, leaving just the exhaust and smoke trail for a more aviation-type engine, instead of a fuel guzzling rocket engine.

I\'ve decided that instead of updating this one part, I would include this in a series part. I\'ve come up with the name and several parts for it.

The Olympia Series, now under the jurisdiction of Radion Space-Works (Like Lockheed\'s Skunkworks).

There would be seven part areas, each named for a specific Olympic god as follows:

1. Hermes: This engine (updated) with a new forward mounted tank.

2. Artemis: Munar Landing System (lander, hab modules, etc.)

3. Apollo: Solar Excursion System (launch vehicle, hab modules, etc.)

4. Poseidon: Oceanic Exploration (Boats, hydrofoils, etc.)

5. Dionysus: Long Term Habitation Addons (new habitation, 'food' storage, etc.)

6. Ares: Short Range Attack Systems

7. Hades: Long Range Attack Systems

I realize this is an enormous project that will take a while, so as soon as I have a certain portion of them done, I will create a thread to track the progress in a similar manner to that with which the Interpid Series has been managed. Adieu

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
