Everybody be hatin' on the Orion program, lol, I thought that would be one of the FIRST after Apollo to be voted for... apparently I was wrong. People like the SSs more than the Orion Program apparently XD

I've heard of it and that still could've done so pretty significant things, if we could afford it... Would the Saturn Nova be under the AAP? Or would it be independent?

However without the knowledge learned from Gemini we NEVER would have gotten to Apollo heheh... Also Apollo was almost delated by Big G/ MOL. So we may have LOST the space race if we had pit stopped on either of those projects! - - - Updated - - - No shock, that is as I expected. 10 votes in Apollo for every one vote in each other category combined.

Indeed, it also was one of the most interesting... there are soo many TRUE stories I could tell you about those astronauts... Still one of the greatest (beyond spaceflight) accomplishments the astronauts did to me, was them FIGHTING for a window and the explosive bolts. The seven would NOT go to space without those, and they did fight as hard as they could, so it is indeed a great achievement. However I still say Gemini for my own reasons I'm not gonna waste time explaining

I have my favorites :3 so again, discuss what and why you like the space program. What about it attracts you? Is there something special about it? Who was your favorite astronauts in that core? I have knowledge of which program will reign supreme, but until I know here's the list of available programs: X-15 Program (Pre-NASA) Mercury Program Gemini Program Apollo Apollo Soyuz Test Project (to be referred to as ASTP) Skylab Space Shuttle Program Orion Program (SLS; Beyond LEO) So choose and tell why, and again I hope you enjoy the conversations below and as I said before, behave!

I still think the X-15 would be a better really early spacecraft (spaceplane if you wish)

I'm sorry your right, I just checked it and I saw the picture and I know that I was thinking of one of the newer atlas rockets being used today. The rocket I see is not the same, thank you Kryten. This time I was right in mind, but the names caught on me... That is NOT a common factor

I'll definitely add the Saturn 1 or later version easy, but not the Atlas Centaur... Too new... This is the OLDE rockets, not new ones ! I'll have to recheck on the Titan III that might be addable, I'll have to see it again...

Well I do want ye olde rockets, but I want the ones which DID make it to space... Besides the V2 was cool, but it was almost completely (as far I'm aware of) designed by Wherner Von Bruan... Without him the damn thing might not have ever gotten above 1000ft.

I get my information from various sources. Sometimes I go to other places to back it up however as I stated before I'm not as strong on my Russia space history so please don't attack for me it. I have found the information someplace and that's what I know or at least think I know. If you would like to correct me, then please do so. I'd rather be correct than wrong.

Watch Challenger in slow motion, then compare it to the ONLY recoded use of a LES... Watch how much time went by before it fired.... Then why the Challenger clip again.... Not NEARLY as long... I've watched the clips. I know...

I like your logic, and what you point out kind of works but even then, in some cases such as Challenger, the disintegration was too rapid for even a computer so respond... Challenger still wouldn't disintegrated... However since the crew cabin DID survive the explosion the alternative would've have happened in your design. They did survive the explosion, but they didn't survive the landing, with your idea they would have survived better, but with a potential possibilty of death still being possible...

Well NASA would have ejection stuff everywhere, but Liberty Belle 7 is a firm reminder early in the program that having explosive escape ways isn't always the SAFEST thing... Ironically the thing that killed Gus Grissom, was on fact the fix to that problem... Pressurized doors rather than explosive bolts to get the pilots out of there, besides... How do you put a LES tower on a plane? Not very well. Besides the first 5 space shuttle missions or so DID have a ejection seats as a LES, but we're soon after removed... Thank goodness they did.

True. However nations watched, but it didn't actrully politically effect the world as the ISS did. The ISS bonded the world together across bounds that would have been treason in the 1960s. So it's a matter of international cooperation and political influence than cultural influence which, I'll agree, the Apollo program has had a much larger impact than ANYTHING the entire exploration of deep space will have. So your right and your wrong. Depending on your point of view.

The N1 would've beaten the US because there were two made and in testing, by the time the US had BEGUN the Apollo program. But the rocket exploded, :/ - - - Updated - - - They might have. You know they might have.

Fair enough. I build myself on being a widely scholar on the space race but I still don't know as much about the Russian program/rockets as I do about NASA (I find them more interesting sorry! )
