  1. I'm currently writing a book, and I'm quite a bit in so, I would like your response about it. If you don't understand what the subject matter is, then read as much as you can here, it'll help... Some. My best recommendation for understanding this is to play the horror game, SCP: Containment Breach. That will explain pretty well.... If you can find out about it... Here the link to read up about it: http://www.scp-wiki.net/ Here's the story.... Or one teaser chapter lf you like, then let me know and I'll submit more: SCP Containment Breach By: ZooNamed Entry: 1: 7:51 am. * * I have been assigned to right this notebook, by the security here. Where 'here' is, I do not currently know. What I will do is write in this. That if in any event, I can escape. The outside world will know the truth of this place.* * * I came here by choice. Less than a month ago, I was in jail. I was in for murder and **** of two women. Being completely guilty, I was sentenced to life in jail. That is by far the least of my problems. When they arrived to our jailhouse, it was an odd spectacle. They gathered all of the other inmates that had also been sentenced to life and the ones who were sentenced to death. After gathering us all in the mess hall, they made an announcement. They said, that if any inmates were willing to go through with some 'tests', and we survived their one month testing period, we would be pardoned of all our crimes. I was one of the few who thought that it would be worth any of the proposed risks, but now I think differently.* * * After gathering all the willing inmates, they put us in a large truck, it was a semi-truck but it was sleek black. Inside was 5 rows of metal hand rails. As we entered the truck, we saw at the rear of the truck that there were several other groups of inmates obviously from other jailhouses. The ride seemed to go on forever. I don't know how long we rode, but I knew the sun had set, rose and set again before they ever got to where they were going. Where they dropped us off was completely cut off from any signs of civilization. The outside world just seemed to have faded away.* * * Upon arrival, We saw another waiting line. There they told us to follow the line and receive our designation. Above our heads were metal walk ways. They were patrolled by guards. The line seemed to stretch forever. The room was huge; The size of a football field contained inside a room that seemed absent of the outside world.* * * After walking and waiting for four hours straight. No food, no water; Cannot sit, cannot stop standing. After the wait, I walk to a desk, with another guard working it. It is protected by two inch thick glass and metal slats along the edges. I can see visibly that others have tried to break the glass and attack, but the blood spatters along the floors also make it apparent of what happened to them. * * "You are D-65789, you will be in Junction Tango Four, you will be used for testing" rang the electric voice of the guard. Then a little card slid out of the machine, as I read it the guard said. "Take this to the next guard you come to, when he asks for it, give it to him and he will take you to your quarters", rang the voice again. I yanked the card out and walked.* * * Another two hours passed slowly walking. Taking one step every minute. As I thought again, that I would have to learn to walk in my sleep to get where I'm going. I find the guard, and he does as the last said. He asked for my card and he gathered me up into a group with what I guess was other inmates in my 'junction'. As we walked down, hallway after hallway and path after path. Finally we came to a long hallway that had multiple rooms off to the side. Some where closed. After I passed one door, I heard muttering inside, it sounded like the person inside was going insane. The mutters sounded fast and completely nonsense. That got me thinking, if the faculty is that bad, and that horrible to drive a man insane. A man that once could of fought a throng of police and been the victor, yet this place has torn him down, and I knew I could not hold as strong as that. I can say I will not fall apart like them, but I know it is inevitable.* * * We come to one door, where we hear the person inside banging on the door screaming. The guard behind us stopped following us and opened his cell, then we saw him open fire on the person inside. Two rounds is all it took, two bullets and the strength, rage, and essence of the man ceased. Never to continue, but we could do nothing.* * * Finally we get to the end of the hallway, and then he started calling out our designations, one by one, sending us to our cells. Finally my designation rose. He sent me to my cell and told me, like the others. To obey any and all commands but to me when my time for testing arises.* * * When I enter my cell, I see a concrete bed, with a pillow on my right. On my left I *have a concrete toilet with no water, with a indenting table from the wall. On the table I see there was two sheets of paper and a journal. I picked up the papers and the journal and took a seat on the bed. On the first sheet of paper it read that I'm only here for one month, and if I survive the one month trial period, I will be pardoned of all prior crimes. It was just a extended version of what the guard at the jailhouse said.* * * That made me shook. The amount if time between then and now. The changes that have occurred, too much has changed in the time allotted. I shook it off and read the other page. It read that I have been given a journal to note whatever I wish, it is simply there to entertain and prevent insanity of D-Class Personnel, like myself. I knew it wasn't that much, especially remembering the one who had gone insane or the one that had been gunned down. It was not their fault, the faculty should have done more for them. Even when people who are sentenced to death get treated better than this. Nonetheless, it is how life is.* * * That is how I came to right this. It now 8:02 am, and I now finish my first entry to my journal, hopefully, if I escape this can find someone and tell my story to help stop people from coming here and to cause a riot to examine this place and bring it down and whatever is inside it.
  2. I said I made a mistake. Besides, today was bad day... Tomorrow I'll make another thread, and everyone will be happy. How do I know? 'Cause I've got experience, just I slipped and made a bad post.... Which became another.... Then another. Today was just bad in general, and as a recommendation, tell me rather than to stop completely, why not comment on one of my threads? Talk to me there, not demand. This typically has a better effect and it also relates back to my main point, it was a bad day.
  3. Can you guys just let the thread DIE?? I made a mistake! I'm sorry, I didn't mean for that to come out... I didn't mean for it too, this kind of just.... Morphed into this.... This also is the final version of it. This won't change... I promise
  4. It's a busy day for me, and I'm not on my game today when it comes down to the forums.... Here's the rundown of what were talking about: The topic WAS: What brought you to ksp? THEN became: Can a Xenon Engine+solar sail work? NOW it is: Can you look through a window at a person, and through the window on the other side, with a probe in space. Sorry for the confusion, I'm DONE with changing the thread.
  5. Sorry about the edits. The first was not my choice, the second was because the question wouldn't stop bugging me.
  6. Ok, now I got your attention.... So I'm changing the question to something I REALLY want an answer too...
  7. This WAS about what brought you to ksp, then someone said it didn't belong, so I changed it sorry.
  8. Anyway, anyone got anything to say about the Xenon Powered Solar sails?
  9. Ok then, I'll play your game, but I shall win. Mwhahahahahahahahahah
  10. It's a geeky topic and it's not DIRECTLY about KSP.
  11. Cool. I was watching a YTber called Markiplier... He played it and I was ALWAYS wanting a game like this, but never knew XD . So I got it, almost immediately. Loved it ever since.
  12. Here's a question, can a satalite in orbit, look through a window? Let me elaborate... I am in a plain, flat (a spherical body, like earth, but completely blank, no mountains, no ridges, it's a perfect sphere the size of earth) and I am in a house. The house has two windows, one in front of me, the other behind me. I look to the horizon, and THEORETICALLY, if I could see far enough, I would see the probe in orbit. The question is, since there is nothing obstructing its view, if it got in the right spot, could it see through the window to see me, AND the other window beyond me, even if it's for a microsecond. Could it be done? (Original Post) Here another KSP topic discussion, this time on what brought you to Kerbal Space Program, originally. Did you find it through: YouTube (YT) Steam Friend Scott Manley Other? Please tell, and let's see WHEN you joined, and what you missed. Enjoy the topics below
  13. True. I'll do that in a sec. Again.... It is dying.... NOPE, NOT ON MY WATCH. *posts comment* mwhahahahahahahahahahah
  14. "Don't mess this up". I'm familiar with that line. Also, he we the first American astronaut, AND he peed his pants. No joke, he wet his suit.... Look it up. I'm just sad for Malcom, nearly 60 votes... And not ONE for him. Sad...
  15. Is reusable possible? Yes, in fact it is. It's just the SPACE SHUTTLE, was a poor example of the possibilities. I don't need to be the first to say, the shuttle had MANY problems revolving to repair, and or care. The space shuttle was VERY delicate. The thermal tiles on the belly of the spacecraft could break if someone poked it. Alternatively, the shuttle planned to use ceramic tiles, but the glue didn't hold and the ceramic was too heavy (I believe that's right). So they decided to use the lighter carbon-carbon tiles. This is different from the Apollo/Gemini and Mercury capsules, in that they ALL re-entered using ablative shielding as their protective layer. The ablative shield would protect the space craft and with some repairs could be more easily protected against the shock heating of the atmosphere. The Space Shuttle (after STS-107) added a new maneuver after reaching space which is where they would fly the spacecraft mutiple times doing 360s as people on the space station and a crew person on the OBS would check the hull of the shuttle for damage. However using a smaller capsule and implementing the same protocol (however unnecessary, because the cause of the fatal blow to Columbias wing was a styrofoam strike to the wing during launch, which wouldn't... Correction: COULDN'T happen on a capsule (maybe the SM, like Apollo 13, but not a wing)).
  16. I think Mars would hold greater knowledge than that of the Moon. Besides, the moon is dangerous. The moon lacks any atmosphere to protect against the violent rays of the sun. It is +1000 degrees in the sunlight, -200 in the shade, that's hazardous for a constant stay. Also, due to the way the moon is (thankfully), it is pounded with meteors. I understand that those strikes are rare and very specific, but they are still dangerous (I've seen the crators first hand, their big.... Even from here, they ARE BIG). Whereas Mars (still cratored) is still less dangerous. It has an atmosphere (granted thin and useless), but it is some protection from the suns rays (however slight). It also can keep a more regulated temperature (however erratic) and... The biggest reason we SHOULD go is... We've NEVER been to a planet before! Never! We've been to a orbiting satalite (fancy talk for, the moon), but never a real planet.
  17. Sooooo.... Are we gonna hit 50 voters, or are we gonna raise from the dead again? *wild moderator appears* *uses lock thread* *its super effective* Oh no!!
  18. I'm obviously quite a bit late, but I'm gonna say this nonetheless and you can correct me then: A Lunar Space Station is very... Inconventional as seen by the comments prior to me due to the poor gravity wells. However, ignoring all facts relating to the poor gravity wells and the cost to resupply it with a SLS everytime. If you ignore all the cons of the idea, it is quite feasible (obviously). The idea was possible all the way back in Gemini.... Most feasible doing Apollo (my idea would need some of the equipment used doing the Apollo missions). The idea was called the Apollo Moon Station (AMS). It would be launched from a Saturn V. It would be a CSM and instead of a LM, a docking core module with multiple docking ports. Launch by launch, you would bring up more and more parts (like they did for the ISS). Putting it together until you have everything you need. The idea is possible. Expsinsive, yes. Problems with gravity? Yes. But the idea does and can exist, just not in reality. It could in reality, if we would be willing to fund it.... A lot of it...
  19. I'm not ranking any astronaut. I'd say in fact, by making a simple poll, I know who's the preferred favorite. Not who's better, hence he title of this thread, who's your FAVORITE Mercury astronaut, not who's the best. This has nothing to do with ranking, if you wish to say that the most POPULAR is the best skilled flyer, then that's your opinion, like everyone's opinion on whos the coolest astronaut. No offense, but we lost some pretty skilled flyers in T-38 accidents, so it's not like the ones on the list ARE the best. Their just the ones who were lucky enough to get mentioned .
