  1. I am using Reliant engines as boosters for my Mun missions in my current Carrier play through (1 Bobcat engine and 4 Reliants in asparagus staging can lift my Mun lander). The main plus for reliant is that it is cheap, it cost only 1100 kerb bucks. Bobcat cost just 2000. And Vector that thing cost freaking 18000! That thing must be recovered and reused, otherwise I will bankrupt myself.
  2. I think this threat should be moved into challenge category and should be renament as "Breaking Ground Helicopters Speed challenge"
  3. I tried it on Duna, but thought luck it doesn't fly. Those servos are on its limit - I can't put more weight on them (more wing area), If I try they just go completely out of rhythm.
  4. About handling: It look like a fish, it fly like a fish and it handles like a cow. Like a very sick cow actually. The most important thing is to prevent it from rolling to the side. That happened at the end of my video, where it started to oscillate from side to side more and more and eventually it crashed.
  5. It is attempt for ornithopter. Basicaly Dragon fly but four wings were not enought.
  6. It is nice sunny day and you are walking towards Astronaut Complex, when suddenly you hear weird sound flip flap flappity flappity flip something is approaching
  7. I was experimenting with ornithopter design before with very poor results, so I was going to move on to something else when I noticed this challenge. When I saw @neistridlar 's post I was very surprised how nice it worked, and it was eureka moment for me: yes of course use Lifting force not drag. So I created my own contraption which is heavily inspired by @neistridlar 's . I used well-tried Kerbal concept -use "moar boosters" and I placed servos on top of an alligator hinges so I can tilt them individually and experiment with it. It is still very slow and hard to control.
  8. Well, yes, we need to test how much it can handle. I think, that with one NERV Motor with ist 60kN trust in vacuum you should be fine, but if you put something more powerful there, like Mainsail with 1500kN of trust ...
  9. That is not difficult at all, just use two hinges rotatet to 90 degrees to each other. One hinge will move up an down second hinge right and left and you have gimballed NERV Motor. sorry I cant add image right now
  10. Only a simple airplane which is filled with new BG robotic parts. They can produce a lot of drag and because of that I hide all of them inside of fairings.
  11. After three days of constant tweaking and tuning I finally managed to converge to final iteration of this plane. Sweet mother of tentacles, the kraken visited me so many times (that's why I am calling this plane the Summoner). I was fighting with jumpy landing legs, my wing fell off during landing, engine mounts were doing breakdance and two ladders was able to reduce my maximum speed by one mach. My intention was to build aeroplane which is VTOL capable, can fold its tail and wings and despite of that can achieve speed 2.2 Mach without afterburner and Mach 3 with afterburner. craft file on kerbalx: https://kerbalx.com/crafts/53762/edit
  12. You can have only one color of the suit light for gender. By default it is orange color. see following video by Inter's Odyssey:
  13. Jeb is allways happy, until you crash or until something on your ship explode. At that point he become worried for a moment.
  14. Because Jeb is badS I thimk Edit: I want just add that when I am flying even Jeb is scared.
  15. Don't give up. How hard could it be. And in whorst case, tomorow youtube will be full of videos about KSP robotics.
  16. In my career I do have one base on minmus. But that poor thing is soo ugly, that I wouldn't mind if it will be torn apart by some ice creame scoop
  17. You don't need to decouple anything, because as soon as you enter the Duna's SOI you will be in Duna fly by situation an at that point KSP evaluate it as fulfillment of Duna fly by contract and after capture burn sufficient just for first possible Orbit inside Duna SOI you will be in Duna orbit situation and therefore Orbit Duna achievement condition will be met.
  18. Great, and you are not alone. My kerbalized version of Hunchback is waiting impatiently.
  19. Hello this is my very first VTOL. I created it in my career play throught and as you can see, it is very low tech aeroplane. This tiny thing helped me to gain those sweet sweet science points and so it proved itself in the field. (at 6:35 I messed up and nearly crashed, due to excessive backward tilt during hovering)
  20. I remembered that I have an aeroplane in my hangar, which could be used as a polar express. It is my first SSTO spaceplane. It can just barely get to LKO with 350 m/s left. It has seats for 2 pilots and 16 passengers. 3 Whiplashes lift the spaceplane into altitude of 20 - 22 km and accelerate it to 1200m/s and then I activated Vector engine, which raised apoapsis to 58 km. By leaving thicker part of atmosphere, it can cruise at 1900 m/s without melting like a candle. Landing at north pole see my imgur album: https://imgur.com/a/3rq83na
  21. Small airplane with three huge engines and with minuscule wing area (wing is just source of unnecessary drag anyway). Well ... that will be fun to land. It flies well enough, but you must stay above 120 m/s. Originally I wanted even higher stall speed, but then I was not able to land that blasted thing. https://kerbalx.com/tapeta/Racer-H
  22. Hello everyone, this is my second contribution, this time more serious. I am pushing one flea glider towards higher weight. My new glider has starting mass equal to 6481 kg. One flea was able to lift me barely to 1700 m above sea and from this point on it was just gentle gliding towards island airport (and hoping that I don't crash into island slope just in front of the landing strip as happened in my first try). see album here: https://imgur.com/a/rnoMTyx
  23. Hi, I want to contribute to this challenge with this very basic glider. Valentina is flying without helmet, in effort to reduce drag. starting mass is 3302 kg . album: https://imgur.com/a/DtfxDPy
  24. Well, there is problem with drag which is generated on that big landing gear on end of right wing. It flies differently with landing gear down and with landing gear up. But I can't move that big landing gear closer to center, because that landing gear acts as counterweight of the cockpit. Symmetrical aircrafts are so easy :-)
