What program do you use to modelize the parts ?

Hello. One day , i would like to create my own space game, but at this moment i am just a teenager. I just would like to know : What program do you used to modelise the parts ? and how did you made the shadow effect on the textures ? (or i think it is on ksp by default) Thanks.
