  1. Today is cool (16 degrees celcius max.) and wet here with lots of rain coming in from Germany. However, this summer is warm with up until now 11 days with maximum temperatures over 30 degrees Celcius, 2nd of July being the hottest day (37,0C). The weather is getting warmer this week over here and we could see temps over 25 degrees later this week ... !
  2. Personal cycle: Phase 1: growing interest in the game. Gathering inspiration from missions and designs posted on the forums. Picking up the game. Phase 2: setting up ambitious missions throughout the Kerbol System with interplanetary vessels. Phase 3: interest in the game declines. Retreating Kerbals to Kerbin and only playing short mission mostly on Kerbin and in LKO. Phase 4: bored with the game and shelving it for some time. And ... repeat. I'm now somewhere between phase 4 and 1.
  3. My space program has ended for the time being and upcoming missions will take place on Kerbin. There were some poorly executed incursions into space and even to the Munar surface, but the final two Kerbals splashed down in the ocean near the KSC today. Missions will now focus on mountain ranges and the polar regions on Kerbin. At least I've somewhat mastered the skill of landing on tiny spots.
  4. Got into 1.0.(4) only recently and I've assembled some acceptable vessels; The Harpy is a small SSTO that can reach LKO with around 10-15% of fuel left. Comes with build-in custom docking port, small heat radiator and enough life support for 80 Kerbal days (TAC). The Speqflieg is more ore less a helicopter and can safely land on locations where doing that with a regular plane would mean certain destruction; on water and in mountain ranges. The Garzweiler Module is a craft meant to drill up Ore on celestial objects. Is only usefull on objects with low gravity and landing on inclined terrain is out of the question.
  5. Wow, I'd say the Venera probes took those pics in Texas ... ! But seriously, I suppose AC's are pretty common over there ... ?
  6. Yeah, temperatures between 32 en 37 degrees Celsius here the last several days, unusual for this region. Don't have an AC though, I don't think its worth the investment due to the heat here being ... well ... unusual and therefore a rarity ... !
  7. I get errors on startup from: KIS, KAS, Planetshine, TAC Life Support and another mod. However, all work fine ingame.
  8. I think you fail to understand the basic mechanics of an online message board.
  9. My guess: development of KSP slows down gradually in 2015 and will come to a complete stop in 2016 when the PS4 version is released. Renegade bugs are squashed throughout 2015 and the game will be improved with better gameplay-balance and visual extra's, like clouds and a new skybox. And last but not least: Unity 5. No more planets will be added. The modding community will continue to boom with some very ambitious projects, helped by the implementation of Unity 5 and better memory performance. We might even see high-quality multiple solar systems modded into the game. A heat wave will envelop the US eastern coast in july and talks in the EU concerning the financial crisis in Greece results in solid agreements. Wait, I'm getting offttopic ... !
  10. Yeah, it seemed a bit away from trains/metro. Got off from station Florenc C and walked half an hour to Táboritská (street near the tower and my hotel was there)
  11. Well, speaking of Prague, one building caught my attention for being a bit odd; a TV-tower with giant sculptures of crawling babies on it. Seems like the locals aren't very fond of it either:
  12. One of the things I like is to grab my car and drive through parts of Europe and enjoying a broad variety of landscapes and cities. It was the afternoon of saturday 16th of May when I drove out of my street and embarked on a nice 'grand' tour. After around 30 minutes the German border was reached. For me, Germany is like the Mün in KSP; it is rather close and offers lots of sights. But unlike the Mün, it luckily doesn't require a descent rocket to reach. First destionation was Frankfurt am Main, a city in the middle of the country and on of the financial powerhouses of Europe. Stayed there for two days and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of the city: Sight from a boat. Monday the 18th of May: time to get rollin' to the east and get to the city of Dresden in eastern Germany. Dresden got bombed to bits in february 1945 during WWII, but the destroyed historical centre got rebuild and looks very nice anno 2015. Stayed there for two days: Dresden in the evening. Sunset above the river Elbe Two days later I drove into the Czech Republic with capital Prague as destionation. With a combination of broken Czech and English I managed to navigate through this magnificient city. Too bad the weather was somewhat bleak with grey skies and light rain, but nevertheless Prague was truly a sight to behold ... ! Centre of Prague. Navigating the highway around Prague The next day (21st of May) I drove south, did some sightseeing in the Czech town of Cesky Krumlov, and eventually reached Austria in the evening. The next day I drove further into Austria but this turned out to be a bad decision as the weather got worse with loads of rain and snow. A case of 'November rain' in May ... ! Wintry weather in the Austrian village of Obertauern Wednesday the 23rd of May, it was time to flee the Alps and the terrible weather that more or less enveloped the whole mountain range. After a stop in the Austrian city of Salzburg, the journey went gradually northwest and the next stop was Dachau, a town notorious for the fact that it housed one of the (concentration) camps during WWII in Europe. After a walk through the former camp, I decided to head to a nearby hotel ... ! Salzburg. Former camp Dachau. 24th of May; time to go home ... ! Though on the way back I visited a site where grotesque machines digged coal out of the ground. Really, the location would fit well in a grim Sci-Fi movie as gigantic machines are literally eating away enormous portions of land and towns are abandoned and destroyed while the iron beasts approach. Gigantic machines (note the cars nearby)
  13. Propellers, small jet engines (0,625 m) and heat radiators ...
  14. When you're thinking "there's a lot of gravity here" when you're walking uphill.
  15. It's not disgusting, it's simple logic. High trees catch a lot of wind. Well-known persons and organisations always receive (some) flak, as there's always a portion of the public/customers that disagree. Note that I'm not taking sides in the discussion, as I'm largely uninformed about the matter in question.
  16. 'Beating' the new aerodynamical model by getting in low orbit around Eve with this lander from 3750 meters altitude ... with 0.70 fuel to spare.
  17. Well, I'm gradually getting the hang of the new aerodynamical model. Personally, I think there's no better place to learn the new atmospheric system than on Eve. The lander shown here is ALMOST able to achieve orbit around Eve from 3750 meters heigt, though I don't know terminal velocity yet so I might haven't yet discovered the optimal ascent profile. EDIT: nailed it, with 0.70 fuel and 0.86 oxidizer left
  18. I had a similar discovery with the Skipper Engine on Eve. In the VAB, info regarding the Skipper says maximum thrust in atmosphere is somwhere in the 500's, but at 400 meters above sea-level on Eve I only got around 155-160 Kn of thrust. It seems there's a huge difference in engine outputs between 1 ATM and 4-5 ATM.
  19. Interesting thing I noted in 1.0.#: picking a higher landing spot in Eve is now more important than ever. Last night I landed a very capable lander on Eve at a mere 400 meters above sea-level, but the thing couldn't ascent anymore, mostly due to a Skipper Engine having a thrust of below 160 Kn ... ! It drank fuel away like a true fuel-aholic, but performed terrible. Furthermore, the engines sounded a bit muffled. Designing a new Eve-lander will require some new thinking and strategies.
  20. The Eve Rocks Challenge is still valid for 1.0 I hope? I have a lander-design that worked pretty well with FAR and DRE in versions 0.24.5 and 0.90, but I assume I'll have to redesign stuff with the nerfed engines. Guess the first stage has to be something with Aerospikes, combined with multiple big reaction wheels and a load of battery's ... !
  21. I haven't downloaded 1.0 yet due to busy real-life and because I never download a version immediately after initial release due to bugs to be ironed out (perfectly normal in my opinion, the first cars of a certain model aren't well known as reliable either). But anyway, apart from bugs this update sounds pretty decent and logical; the more realistic aero-model would make getting to LKO with pre-1.0 engines too easy, so I'm all behind the severe nerfing of engines. Though I can throw my carefully designed Eve-Lander out of the window now. Cheap solar panels cannot be retracted again? Nice, adds extra challenge and thought to missions.
  22. Voted '0.16-0.20'. The development of KSP in this 'period' could be described as Shock-and-Awe, with the implementation of many new planets and the phenomenom docking ... ! It was fantastic; many nail-biting attempts to dock two ships and fly the whole combination to this odd waterworld in orbit of a green gas giant, where a number of kerbals would end up in the drink and floated there for several years.
  23. Some pics I took in earlier versions of KSP: First landing on the Mun in the demo version 0.12 First mission to Duna in version 0.17 Mission to the Jool System in version 0.24.5 First succesfull return mission to Eve in 0.25 Plane attempting to land on Duna in version 0.90 (turned out to be total failure and death)
  24. Not immediately; got some projects to finish in 0.90 and I assume there'll be some initial bugs to be ironed out. I usually download a new version a week or 2 after release.
  25. Good preview. But did I saw 400 Kn thrust on one of those turbojets?
