  1. Everyone is still alive, Jeb, Bill, and Bob are about to make their first moon landing together.
  2. No, but putting satellites into orbit easily does and that's what you should be doing before going to the moon. That's just logical. I think they should delay the "Explore the moon" mission until you have some more reputation. I am sure that as Beta updates come along that this will be sorted out but as it is now the game starts off slow and gets way too easy after a short time. Here's how my 1st playthrough went. Break altitude record. Do whatever easy money making/science contracts there are between each real flight. (Test x on launchpad/suborbital flights only.) Multiple Suborbital flight with goo canisters, crew reports, to different biomes. Upgrade astronaut complex Orbital flight with goo canisters, science jr, crew reports. Unlock radial decouplers, fuel lines. Orbital flight, EVA, more crew reports from space. Upgrade launchpad. More suborbital flights with part tests. Rescue Kerbal in space. Unlock longer fuel tanks. Upgrade tracking station. Upgrade Mission control. Start placing satellites in orbits for 100-200k each, plus tons of science. Upgrade R&D Launch 4-5 satellites, Unlock entire available tech tree (All nodes costing $300 or below.) Upgrade VAB. Upgrade Mission Control LVL3. Take all contracts for satellites, space stations, moonbases. I did this all within 6 hours, under the 30 part VAB limit. I've spent 2600 science, upgraded all those buildings to Lvl2 and Mission Control to 3, and have $500k+ I'm about to start building space stations and moon bases, I was just waiting for TAC LS to update for 0.90.
  3. Funds increase rapidly once you get enough reputation to start getting "place satellite" missions. They're easy and have big profits.
  4. The price/cost thing is always confusing to me because I never trust that the other guy is using it right. It stands to reason that in that quote his is referring to his cost per launch, not the pricetag. He also was kind of vague. He actually said "then obviously there's as much as possibly a 70 percent reduction from where things are today," "As much as" is like saying "up to 70%". It could be only 20%, but it can't be more than 70%. So I took it to mean that if the booster stage is 70% of the launch and that part is reusable, then the cost savings are anywhere from $0 up to $40 million.
  5. It's definitely a bug. The Kerbals have no problems holding a steady heading in SAS mode with RCS. If I point him prograde and turn on SAS, he holds it just fine. If I tell the Kerbal to hold prograde he suddenly starts using RCS and jittering like he had 12 cups of coffee. It's a bug. Edit: I read your other post, this isn't the same thing we are talking about. The other post is asking why autopilot sways past the target and back to it. That's not what this thread is discussing.
  6. You're in a prograde orbit and the orbit you need to be in is retrograde. If you look at the [+]Notes section of the contract you will see it has an inclination that is 90°-180°, that means its a retrograde orbit. A prograde orbit has an inclination of 0°-90°.
  7. They also have the Orbit Inclination if you open up the [+] Notes section. 0-90 is a prograde orbit, 90-180 is a retrograde orbit.
  8. Then give yourself some extra cash at the start. There is a reason the New Game menu allows you to add science and cash. Edit: Don't worry about grinding parts testing missions to upgrade your R&D building. Upgrade what you -need- right now. You won't need to upgrade your R&D until you've spent like 1000 science. As your science goes up you will be able to complete tougher missions. Eventually you can bang out a few of the satellite contract missions and you'll be rich and famous too!
  9. Maneuver nodes is under "Flight Planning." If you right click and hover over the cost of the Lvl2 Upgrade for Mission Control you will see it says "Tracking Station Required for Flight Planning" if you do not yet have a Tracking Station to Lvl2. Maneuver Nodes require BOTH Mission Control and Tracking Station to be at Lvl2.
  10. What used to be SAS and ASAS units are now Reaction Wheels. They're called either inline stabilizers or small inline reaction wheel. They are NOT SAS units. The only thing that hold a craft's orientation are Pilot Kerbals and Probes that feature the SAS ability. It actually says "Stability Assist" on them. Some can even hold pro/retrograde.
  11. Woo! Thank you! It's like early Christmas between all your mods and FAR being updated today. My new Kerbal Career can start now!
  12. Try activating the antenna? Try clicking on the Blue [+] Note , and expand it to see what it says.
  13. Before Nodes that was how 100% of the people did it. And Minmus too!
  14. Everyone was so upset about the barns that Squad fixed it up a little bit.
  15. Yeah, RT2 broke for me as well. Pretty much anything with a plugin broke. Parts packs that don't require plugins should all still be fine.
  16. Woo! Been waiting for this one and the EXP pack. Rock on man!
  17. Maybe some pictures or a bit of an explanation that could help us recreate it to see if it's actually a bug? Or even give us the craft file.
  18. The version number is 0.90, not 0.9. Version .9 came a long time ago between .8 and .10
  19. That is absolutely genius. It's very easy on the eyes. Very easy to visually sort out the difference between a 'test' contract and a 'survey' one or otherwise. Hey, you're pretty good at understanding how brains work. Think about this one.. The brain named itself.
  20. 1) The interior view wasn't included, it will be in a future update. 2) You now need either a Pilot (Kerbal with Pilot skill trait) or an advanced probe. The base probes do not have SAS features.
  21. Press "R" to switch between radial and mirror. Edit: Whatever part you are trying to attach the engines to was placed with Radial symmetry and not mirror symmetry, so that is why it defaults back to radial.
  22. Yes it is. It has been posted multiple times in multiple places, including about a page ago.
  23. Take a chill pill dude. Go relax before you have an aneurysm. I'm sorry I missed the post that said the OP only wanted the most simple of explanations and that you were the keeper of the law around here.
