  1. Exactly what RoboRay said. There is no benefit to launching at 270 degrees.
  2. The problem is you have too many tanks stacked vertically. As they use up fuel the center of mass shifts towards the top of the vehicle making it uncontrollable and likely to flip over on its end.
  3. That is exactly what I did as well. It work's great as long as you are decent with orbital rendezvous, which I am not. I got it though, just took awhile. I have never had that kind of issue, especially with the new NERVA engine. Maybe you have an unnecessarily high T:W ratio on your transfer stage? It could just be my minimalist approach , I don't bring anything I don't need, including ASAS.
  4. Uh, no. It's not solid, it's a gas giant. There really isnt a well defined solid core. The atmosphere just gets denser as you get closer to the core. So you can't really land on them.
  5. I am a firm believer in that RCS should only be used on craft that are going to perform orbital rendezvous. Otherwise you are just wasting precious fuel moving mass you won't really need. Particularly in the case of interplanetary travel. All the delta-v required to move that extra mass really adds up when you are trying to go from Kerbin to another planet and back.
  6. I've landed there several times, the best place to land is probably on the top of the volcano, some parts of it are above 10-11km. Depending on where you land you are pretty much still above the atmosphere where it heats up. I have also landed at lower levels by feathering the throttle as you said, but they were still at higher altitudes.
  7. Docking is not coming in .18 so don't get your hopes up.
  8. This is exactly why I use MechJeb. It is absolutely invaluable for its instant relay of important information. Apoapsis, Periapsis, true altitude, vertical/horizontal velcocity, T:W ratio, current craft weight, all extremely valuable information. This is great advice.
  9. Again, this is not the Space Kraken, it is something else. If you encountered it on the way to Duna then there is no way you were traveling at the required velocity to encounter the original Space Kraken. It may be exhibiting Space Kraken like symptoms, but that does not make it the Space Kraken.
  10. That's just weird, because I go to Eve and Moho a lot and I never have this happen. What the heck is going on?
  11. Post a picture of the craft file, or the .craft file itself. I'm going to guess that your staging setup is confusing the T:W ratio in Kerbal Engineer mod causing it to report the wrong T:W ratio for that stage.
  12. It's hard to try to find and recreate these types of bugs if you don't include things like, your velocity, what you were orbiting, orbital height.. I have yet to have this occur and I've been trying to recreate it. I've been to every orbital body multiple times now and nothing as of yet.
  13. The original Kraken was specific to losing control at high velocity. This new bug has nothing to do with high velocity, therefore by your own argument, is not the original Kraken. So stop confusing people by saying it is.
  14. Nothing but a bunch of trolls. Go troll elsewhere.
  15. How, exactly, did we come to be here anyway? 270 degree? Bleh.
  16. Is that... is that a spaceplace with fricking laser beams on its head?!
  17. Good Sir, are you not capable of reading the first line of the thread? Here, I will help you by quoting it for you. I like Kurt's video because it reminds me of how I played, and I'm sure almost all of us did, when we first started KSP. We just threw stuff together and figured out what worked and what didn't. He isn't an expert at KSP and that's what I enjoy about his videos. He figures everything out as he goes, and hey, when stuff fails as it catastrophically tends to, his laughter is always sure to make me smile.
  18. Awesome screenshot, and an awesome title for it. That's such a great song.
  19. I just found some screenshots taken during my first test of the NERVA engine. I had slapped together a quick lander to see how far it could travel with the new engine. All was going according to my flight plan until the last radial stage was jettisoned. At the last moment it turned slightly and I heard a horrible sound. You know the one. The one that says, yeah, that just happened. Jeb did some quick math and came to the conclusion that he his T:W ratio was still high enough to complete orbital insertion, even though he was minus a Mainsail engine. He jettisoned the fuel tanks when they emptied and boosted to a higher orbit before igniting the NERVA engine and going off into deep space. One of the handful of times I have had a mishap that did not impact the mission in any way.
  20. It was during a trip to Eve that Danrob, Stunt Kerbal Extraordinaire, decided to press his luck and tempt fate. Yes, that's right folks, this is about to happen.
  21. Did you modify the settings.cfg file in the KSP main directory? I recommend changing the CONIC_PATCH_LIMIT to at least 4 for interplanetary travel. It's possible it's not drawing far enough ahead for you to see the intercept.
  22. What Ferrin said. You can even see 'Highest G Force Endured' on the right of your post mission screen. 4.6 can be too high for a complicated rocket. Throttle down and keep it around 2G's (the last bit of green line) and you will be ok.
  23. No. Just, No. Stop talking about Multiplayer, IF it happens it won't be until after the game is completed. So don't even bother.
  24. It's this guy here. Carl Sagan.
