  1. Greetings! I'm trying to find out what the proposed orbiter emergency escape system was called. I don't think it was ever used, and it was a single person capsule that was basically a coffin with a rocket and a parachute. Usually I can google something like this, but I seem to be having a bad day and the G-Man is letting me down. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate it!
  2. Dang, I was working on something Discworld related too! I'm naming all my craft after places and people from the books
  3. Okay, so I've been playing around with different types of scanner layouts, seeing if changing how they're laid out on the craft would effect how they scan. Short answer, they don't. Just stick them on however you want. Slightly longer answer: This was the extreme test I did to see if having the detectors spread out over a large distance would help. Yup, those are KAS systems holding on the scanners. Why? This is why: And then their final distance of 50m They're a little hard to see, but each white spot is a scanner. They were even harder to see in the light.
  4. Sooooo, the higher your orbit, the larger the gaps at time acceleration. Seems like a waste to have the range that large then. I don't know if the mod creator monitors these conversations, but what I'd do is tune the smaller radial one so that it's range is VERY limited, like 5000m or even 1000m, and make it for rovers or landers, just so you know you're in the right spot when you start drilling. Then keep the larger one for orbits, but cut it's altitude down to what the smaller one was to start with, 250,000m. That should be range enough for any of the planets and müns.
  5. Hey, I have a question that's been bugging me for quite a while. I just went through all of the pages and I didn't see it mentioned, so I thought I'd ask it. Is there any reason why the maximum distances on the scanners are so large? I mean the big one is 1,200,000m! That's HUGE! I've tested out a couple of different scans and I can't tell any difference between scanning Kerbin at 80km or 1200km. Is there a benefit I'm not seeing?
  6. I was unaware of this phenomenon with our actual moon, nifty! http://io9.com/new-theory-explains-moon-s-wonky-gravity-510654348
  7. Okay, what I'm trying to dock is a double-dirigible with electric only motors to a mobile kethane harvester. (Ignore the one on the right, that was just a test with the docking port reversed) I want to be able to transport the harvester at least close to a kethane deposit and then have it run over and collect it. I designed it this way because my rovers can only go at the most 30m/s before they hit a bump and flip out and explode. My dirigible however can get up to speeds of 135m/s so it's more time efficient to run the dirigible to the general area, drop the rover and have the more maneuverable rover do the actual work. Oh, and neither of them have any ASAS running, nor any ASAS components as far as I know. They're not needed.
  8. A good thought, but I thought you had to do that anyways, so I've been doing that all along.
  9. There is no gap at all when I'm actually trying to dock. The gap is shown just to illustrate that I have the docking ports facing the proper way.
  10. It was the original problem. I have tipped the upper vehicle forward so that the space between could be seen. However, they still fail to dock even when flush and the carryall is pushing down on the rover with enough force to crush it.
  11. Okay, here are screenshots of what I have. first is so you can see how close they are. Second so you can see that the top is facing the right direction And the third so you can see that the bottom is facing the right direction. They just won't dock. Is it that they're not aligned? I see that the handles on the side aren't in the same position. Could that be it? Edit: There is no ASAS on either the rover or it's carryall.
  12. Okay, what the heck am I doing wrong? I have tried docking with the new COTSr docking ports and they will not dock. I've tried them both each way. One side has a little yellow triangle and is mostly smooth, the other side has a handle and a ring of slotted construction reinforcement. Which side goes toward the craft, which side sticks out? Does one craft have to have the port one way, and the other craft have the port facing the other way? What gives?
  13. Stolen blatantly from some unknown scifi show, but it seemed appropriate.
  14. So I'm sort of surprised that I haven't seen this one. Or maybe I just missed it For those that know what it is, you'll know what it is. Those that don't, well Spoilers!
  15. I saw this posted on a different board, about a totally different subject, but it fit so well with how I design and fly rockets, I had to steal it "It isn't what you'd normally call air-worthy. It would be flaming wreckage at the end of every runway if it weren't for the avionics computer constantly going; "left... left... RIGHTRIGHTRIGHT.. hold... holBACKLEFT,OH********, OK got it, JESUS!RIGHTRIGHT!!"
  16. I case anyone has missed it, this was posted in a different part of the forums. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/31211-0-20-Decals-World-Pirate-Flags It has a collection of 212 World flags and 8 Pirate Flags (as of this posting) in one zip file.
  17. One Hundred Percent Correct! I just did a google search for Canada Flag Weathered and VIOLA! There were a bunch that were copyrighted, but as far as I could tell, that one was free game. Go for it.
  18. That's great! That inspires me to do my own! But in the meantime, here are some prosaic flags for everyone I used this one for the basis of my other one
  19. I made this one today, now that .20 is out! BTW, does anyone know if the flags can be arranged in folders other than the SQUAD folder? I wouldn't mind having separate folders for Flags I make and Flags I download.
  20. You know, this got me thinking. Wasn't there a submarine mod a looooooong while ago, somewhere around 0.16? I can't find it in the forums, but then I can never find things in the forums
  21. I used Surfer as well, and got the same thing a while ago! I also seem to have forgotten how to put a big image in a spoiler box. :-/
  22. ... That's quite the specific case of CDO you have there neighbour. I'm glad I'm not that bad.
  23. I made this one, as well as a few others a while ago, when the flag plugin was made. My original is quite a bit larger, I might have to redo the lettering to fit the new size.
  24. I stumbled across this today, thought the community might be interested. http://space.io9.com/win-these-bids-and-build-your-own-historic-spacecraft-498636475
