  1. My approach is having a spaceplane main section to which i attach conventional booster rockets for going to space. Also I like to attach some plane parts to my rockets so my center of drag is behind my center of mass and I get better control during ascend of my rocket.
  2. The song is El Brujo by Wo Fat. Found it with the youtube search after uploading the video.
  3. I designed a low tech VTOL for my career game: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/131734-Scratcorp-Dragonfly-MK-1-VTOL
  4. The Dragonfly is a versatile stock craft which flies very similar to a helicopter while still easy to handle without SAS. Except for landings... This is the reason we equipped it with 4 parachutes. Download here (joystick recommended): https://www.dropbox.com/s/g0bg1vuddopt58f/Dragonfly%20I.craft?dl=0
  5. I use part clipping to make the crafts look better but don't use it to stack things that wouldn't be possible in real life. For example yesterday I clipped aerodynamic nose cone fuel tank and basic jet engines with the wings. Something like this:
  6. Just started a new career last week and built a Rocket Rover for visual survey missions. It's able to fly to its destination and then drive comfortably to nearby waypoints:
  7. Its stable but you should read this if you get trouble: http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Linux
  8. I also had a ksp like dream. I watched the testflight of the first ftl capable ship constructed but it ripped itself appard in the atmosphere. we found shelter from the parts raining down on us but then some apemen atacked us. The night before i had a creepy dr who dream where 'the silence' atacked earth and me and my friends were the only ones defending earth. this or i am a timelord and need to find my watch
  9. In windows I had problems with ram usage but I got it to work on my linux partition and launched my first sounding rockets
  10. Hi, nice video and thank you for pointing out the mod packs. This was exactly what I was looking for and I think I will start a new game with the same configuration now.
  11. My system to launch SSTO Shuttles to a suborbital trajectory: 100% reusable and works fine for stock KSP. For Far I will have to tweak the aerodynamics.
  12. Once in an older version I went accidently on eva on reentry and jeb could not grab the pod and fell down. I thought this was the end but he had enough horizontal speed to bounce of many times from the ground and stand up after a very long facebrake. My only thought were: okaaaaay?!?
  13. Hi, I decided to record a video of every big step in my modded career game. I just reached space for the first time but I am not able to get to orbit yet due to real solar system so my first video here is a short optical survey mission with a lowtech two stage rockeplane:
  14. I'm doing optical survey missions in my early career Rocketplane with Real Solar System, Far and Kerbal Construction Time mod installed:
  15. Sadly I don't have screenshots. Jeb wanted to get back from a Mun mission when the fuel run out in a 100 k periapsis and near Mun Apoapsis around Kerbin (I wanted to airbrake in the atmosphere). I sent up an unmanned rescue probe but it was short of fuel also and I couldn't align the orbits though I were just 20 km away from him. To make it worse the flight computer predicted a Mun flyby resulting in Kerbin SOI escape for the next round around Kerbin. All I could do was making Jeb to get all science data gathered on the Mun go on EVA and make a correction burn with the jetpack and pray. Fortunately It was enough for him to reach a stable orbit and on the next launch window the rescue mission was succesful. Jebs rocket still orbits the sun.
  16. This weekend I installed a bunch of mods to make the game harder and more realistic. I am doing part test jobs to be able to upgrade my vab and reach a stable orbit around kerbin. The mods I use are Far, Deadly Reentry, Real Solar System, Kerbal Construction Time, Remote Tech, Tac Lifesupport and Kerbal Engineering. The game is even more fun to me now
  17. Thanks. At the moment I try to modify it so i can get it to orbit as whole and make the cockpit section a shuttle for planetary transfer
  18. Why take a plane to the xth temperature measurement when you can use this podracer instead: The Scratcorp Hermes Podracer uses only stock parts and can be downloaded here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bbkaq2cvkf6ihcz/Hermes.craft?dl=0
  19. My science SSTO: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/106360-Cheap-Tech-Level-5-Science-SSTO-Spaceplane
  20. I improved the design further and present the Scratcorp Sirius MK 2: - Costs reduced to 24410 funds - Able to climb to about 16000 m by basic jet engine only - Added 2 Goo containers - Less mass leads to reduced fuel consumption by deleting front liquid fuel tanks and redundant parts (e.g. central intakes.) - Added antenna and batteries - Better flight behavior after takeoff - Reasonable amount of jet fuel left after reentry - Better style by raising wing tips and positioning intakes below the wing .craft file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dnt105qghq2pm2i/Sirius%20MK%202.craft?dl=0
  21. Mine have got a Science Jr and two goo containers so i can use them for gather science from space contracts.
  22. This is my first post here though I'm registered for a long time now. Yesterday and today I designed my first career SSTO. After doing two succesful test flights to orbit I'd like to share my results: .craft file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5v8rwfqux6ma950/Space%20Plane%201.craft?dl=0 The part cost is at 29600 funds and the plane has a materials bay and a thermometer for fulfilling science contracts at the other site of kerbin (though it won't be able to fly back to KSC then). For a succesful launch to orbit the plane uses a basic jet engine while in the atmosphere with a climb rate of 10 m/s. At 11000 m I activated the two LV-909 liquid fuel engines and maintained a 45 degree climb until apoapsis is raised to 100000m. This is where I circulized my orbit. For the landing I burned the remaining fuel after reentry at KSC, deactivated all reaction wheels and glided to the runway. The only two issues I have with it are the need for the hill at the runway for takeoff and the need to burn the liquid fuel before landing or the plane will be destroyed at touchdown even when going down with less than 5 m/s.
