  1. A preadtor has a top speed of 135mph, anda service ceiling of 7,600m. Talk about low and slow, even has to skimp on the weaponry, it can barely carry the two hellfires on it.
  2. The Air force by no means thinks the A-10 is "Slow and easy to shoot down", read many of the after action reports, They are flying tanks. The Specters have always been cool as hell, but i dont think they are in the same class as AH-64 and the A-10. The A-10 seems to fill a niche within the array of planes, its a unique plane. I can see the F-35 replacing the F-18. But replacing the A-10 is a very big strech of the imaginations for the armchair generals in this thread.
  3. Kessler Syndrome: The Movie. I like it, definatly going on my list.
  4. If you absolutely have to have a "gaming laptop" look no further that the ASUS ROG Series of laptops. Very good value for performance. I would recomend the the ASUS G46VW (http://rog.asus.com/notebook/14-2/g46vw/) You can get a G75VX (http://rog.asus.com/notebook/17-inch/g75vx/) Its going to be hard to max games on a laptop. You will have a set of limiting factors such as the hardware used in the construction of the machine, the limited upgradeability of a laptop, and well any Pre-built. If i could make a suggestion, Build a Gaming Rig. Assuming the budget is 3K flat you can build a monster rig. If you want suggestions let me know.
  5. Indeed, A global hawk will never be an air superiority craft, That is what X-47s are for. I dont think we need an Air superiroity UCAV until after the F-22 becomes obsolete. The global hawk is very similar to the U-2 in many aspects.
  6. It is well armed, just not with your typical munitions, it is armed with a state of the art sensor system and one of the most fuel efficent jet engines around. A simple Scout is all a modern military needs out of a drone. Plenty of Sensors on that thing for terrain mapping and target designation. The US has enough Smart munitions that only need a target location and the guidence system does the rest. Whole part of the thinking battlefield where tactical information is displayed in real time to all fighting forces, interesting stuff.
  7. Im more partial to the Global Hawk.
  8. It was my understanding that the CH-46 was on its way out in favor of the SH-60. I guess they will have both. I have flown in a Blackhawk and they are spectacular. I can only imagine its variant is just as good as the army based version. Lets keep this thread on-topic.
  9. Just going to bump this thread right here,
  10. I dont think you need to go all the way up to an 8350, That may create a new bottleneck. An FX-6300 should do that card good. The Zambezi Architecture that the 4170 gives performance comparible to a Phenom II no matter how far you OC it. Anything in the Vishera archetecture will be have a sizeable increase in performance. In my opinion i would not go all out on an FX-8350 and just get a FX-6300. they are reasonable in price and should do well for your setup. Yout ram is also at a slow clock speed which cant be helping to situation. Get a FX-6300 and spend the difference on some faster ram, it should work out the bottlenecks.
  11. The V-22 is a great idea, but only if they can make the Hydralics for the engine tilt reliable. Still think Blackhawks are better, and will be more cost effective in the long run if stealth isnt going to be a priority.
  12. Theres a fallacy for the Defence contractor "High Cost = High Profit" statement, but i cant be bothered to find it. Technology is expensive, Technology is very expensive, Look at the F-117 Nighthawk, it is very expensive for the cutting edge of technology. The costs to develop these kinds of projects are insane. If i were a country in need of an airforce i would be learly of buying ex-soviet hardware. Why not spend the extra bit for a fleet of F-18s if your country can afford it?, it will always get into the parable for quality over quantity.
  13. i would love to see wargames between the two when the CF-XX gets off the drawingboard.
  14. In making the F-35 the US is phasing out the F-18, which is a multi-role fighter. The F-22 is a completely different role, it was designed from the ground up for air superiority. Note the Crazy HUD Helmet intergration device. Stealth Technology is a great thing to have in a modern battlefield, agianst a modern enemy. That being said it would be more cost effective for contries to buy the aging F-18 platform, The bugs are worked out and its been in service enough for parts to be realitvly cheap(as far as fighter jet parts go).
  15. While i can not endorse torrenting. (Its an ethical issue and this is not the place to discuss ethical issues). I can provide the link to the Windows 7 Forum with the ISO image. Using an ISO image you can burn it to a CD as a backup, or activate it with a windows 7 activation code from microsoft. It is 100% legal to do this. Microsoft had misplaced the link forcing many people to needlessly upgrade to Windows 8. http://www.w7forums.com/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads-t12325.html If the moderators view this being illegal, feel free to remove this post and replace it with an apology.
  16. I was a long time user of Internet Explorer(Probably the only Universal 64-bit Browser, Don't believe me?, Google it.) Lunascape is a very good step in the right direction for browsers.
  17. I use a Browser called Lunascape. It is a Tri-Engine Browser, It can seemlessly switch between the Trident engine(Internet Explorer), the Gecko engine (Firefox), and the Webkit engine (Chrome/Safari) for rendering a page. Barely uses and CPU to run. Argueably more secure than Chrome, Fully customizable.

Im sensing a hint of Churchill.
  19. There were plenty of warnings, curiosity is a killer.
  20. You seem to be throwing out information with little to no factual basis, everything you have said is heresay at best. Nibb31 brings up a very good point about the risks of investing, Especially in this sort of gamble situation. You can follow suit and keep ranting about how your not one of the 20% that recieved their product, or you can get some patience, sit back, and wait. Just doing a little look around the web, it looks like they might have sent them out to game reviewers first, as a PR standpoint this makes sence as they will put out reviews and unboxing videos which will make their investors happy, and excited about the product they threw money at. As can be seen in this situation, sending them to game reviewers first has made the investors angry. Put down the Torch and Pitchfork, sit back and be patient. I am sure they will deliver on their agreement.
  21. Doing a some quick napkin math here. There are in total, 63,416 backers for OUYA. Of that 3668 backes pledged below the line of people who get an OUYA. Asuming everyone above $95 gets an OUYA. This leaves 59,748 backers that get a OUYA. If thier percentage is correct at "20% shipped" 11,949 backers have recieved their OUYA. This means that 47,799 backers have not recieved their OUYA. Who sounds like they are going to complain more/louder? The Haves, or the Have Nots? Of course the people that dont have it yet are going to complain more. This is a simple distribution delima. Stop complaining and wait, They will pull through.
  22. There is no saving this one sal, Abandon thread.
  23. You have chosen 6 montiors that are about equal. They are all LED displays so they will last a while with good picture. The Asus have higher refresh rates, they will seem, for lack of a better term, faster. If you go for the smaller ones you can get two in that budget for the price of one of the larger screen, it is all preference.
  24. Probably why this thread is stillborn. He makes a good point. Lets try to be civil. I may not like what may be posted here, but ill fight for their right to post it.
  25. The Motif of "Gaming" in certian sectors of the electronics market/industry are *usually* used as a reason to charge exorberant ammounts of money for a slightly *better* piece of equipment. Get something with a high refresh rate like 120hz and you will be happy. Dell makes some good monitors, better than their computers. Asus makes solid products across the board so i recomend them a lot.
