  1. I completely agree with the first two, kerbals should be easier to tell what specialization they are, as well as knowing what things they've done (the Final Frontier mod has an excellent example of this), but hesitant about the third. Part of the game's charm is the fact that it allows you to come up with your own backstory for the kerbals.
  2. I believe xenomorph lives in the UK and it launched early in the morning for them. I assume that the launch took place in China
  3. Not to mention there's probably not even enough parts packs to reach 8 TB of RAM usage!
  4. Depending on the KSP version, I will exclusively see either the LKO start screen or the Munar screen when starting the game. Not sure if this is just an extremely unlikely coincidence, or a bug.
  5. So glad the Lunar Space Station is being talked about, hopefully it will survive the Budget Axe of the US Congress It's nice to know that NASA has a plan for how often SLS will be used and in which capacity, however depending on budget allocated to NASA, I'm unsure how much of this plan will actually see the light of day.
  6. Except there's no way to reattatch a launch craft to your SSTO after its been decoupled.
  7. I think this is one of those things which will perform differently for different machines (which is why Squad hasn't sated definitively how much of an improvement it will bring), so we really will have to wait and see how things go once the update drops.
  8. There is a 'Supersample' line in the KSP settings.config file, which you can set the (integer) multiplier the screenshot taken will be with respect to your screen resolution.
  9. Many thanks for the offers, though I'm afraid I'll have to decline to both of you, I enjoy designing the crafts the nations use, and as a previous commenter noted, I aim for more of a kerbalized version of their real-life counterpart, rather than the actual Mercury, Gemini, etc. capsules. That being said, I'm always on the lookout for clever building solutions, or unorthodox usages of parts, so if you have any of those on-hand, I'd love to see them (or even use them in the story's ships, with proper credit to where it's due, of course). I neither have the voice nor desire for this particular format, I'm afraid. Hook up a Text-to-Speech reader to the ebook, and you'll be good to go! Very soon, I promise! In the meantime, enjoy the new-and-improved map of Kerbin. When looking back on the documents (I had to make a map for the next chapter), I realized that my map of Kerbin was from 2012, when Kerbin was evidently a bit different. It's been updated in the introduction, and here's the new version here as well: It's resolution is actually really high (I think 2K), so it should be suitable for a desktop wallpaperâ€â€if anyone's interested, of course.
  10. I feel like Danny started this thread to get ideas for future videos.
  11. I have plans for Kold War to continue all the way out to a Duna landing, after which it should draw to a nice conclusion. After that, well, I'll see about reception and whether people want moar story and do a 'sequel' type thing, including the rest of the Kerbol system. Of course, judging by the pace of my writing, you can expect that in roughly ten years (or SpaceX will land on Mars/Duna before the USKK and/or CKFN does! ) To answer the above two commenters' question, I basically had Grand Plans to write a whole bunch of Kold War a month or two ago over a short period, then post it slowly over the next few months. Unfortunately, real life got in the way, as well as writing more over a shorter period causes my (perceived, anyway) quality of writing to drop, I wasn't 100% satisfied with the way Return turned out. Plus, a new semester's started, hooray! I know you guys enjoy reading the story (and I'm surprised and humbled, you all have my thanks), so I'll definitely make writing more of a priority over the next little while. I can't promise super-regular updates, though! This is more like Brotoro's various series, you have to wait a while between installments, but when it does update you get a great deal of content. Also, the next few parts (and chapters, for that matter) are going to maintain in the geopolitical drama genre, as the Mun's not projected to be reached until the end of Chapter 5. Sensitive readers, turn away now So until then, feel free to continue commenting here, all, to remind me to get off my lazy butt and actually write things! PS: Welcome to the forums, and hope you enjoy your time here, USKK Space Command! (you honour me by the username choice)
  12. It does. But TextureReplacer doesn't seem to like it when this is done, and will switch them right back if it's installed. (Just uninstall, swap the gender, then reinstall TR if you're having that problem)
  13. The planets in KSP are very small, yet incredibly dense. I think there was a theory that they're made out of very dense material like neutronium, or perhaps each contains a small black hole in their interiors?
  14. Oooh, very nice! Would you be able to add another model with sun-tracking abilities?
  15. Is the game progressing slower (i.e. in-game seconds take longer than IRL seconds)? I know of a way to increase framerate at the cost of slowing down the in-game time, and it's by changing the physics delta-t, which seems similar to what that mod's doing.
  16. Unfortunately, the Ramjet requires us to have extensive knowledge about how to contain and manage a proton-proton fusion reaction, the most difficult of all fusion reactions to maintain. I think our knowledge of nuclear fusion projects needs to improve by a significant amount before such a spacecraft can be considered plausible.
  17. The good news is that it's asking for Eve first. In that case, you should be able to construct a very large Eve lander, which the cockpit will detach from as the final stage, then dock that to a Gilly landing sort of vessel (i.e. mostly RCS jets, and few liquid fuel engines). Then, the ship can dock to an appropriate Duna SSTO (which is quite easy to make) and with the proper refueling, it should be able to land on the Mun as well! Trivial!
  18. Hi, just reporting a bug here. Porkjet's Stock Fuel Switch appears to overwrite this mod on fuel tanks, so after installing I am unable to use it on any of the stock fuel tanks (monoprop tanks are unaffected).
  19. I agree. Suggesting to provide a spacecraft with propulsion by nuking the hell out of it is a phenomenally stupid idea. But hey, if it's stupid and it works, it's not stupid.
  20. I agree with this, a stock fuel system switcher a la Porkjet's mod would be stellar; I always feel bad leaving half the tank unused when building nuclear engine-powered rockets.
  21. I imagine they've done some limited test cases which show improved performance (such as the PhysX systems), or an aspect of the game that wasn't affected by Unity 5 much. I feel he's just being cautious, because the community does tend to get annoyed over expected features which don't pan out. Like you said, we have to wait until we actually see the update to pass judgement on how it's improved; some systems may get luckier than others. As for the EVA question, I feel if the feature is ever added in, perhaps Squad could put in a popup which tells you something like "Oh no, you don't have enough monoprop to fill up this kerbal's tanks!" if you attempt to leave the ship. That being said, I'm a fan of the current system, as it is forgiving enough to the player while retaining difficulty (the amount of fuel on EVA limited to the same amount either way), but as you said, there would be that extra step in the design process to make sure you have enough monopropellant for all the EVAs you plan to do.
  22. If you have pleased The Gods of KSP Optimization, they will bless you with High Framerates and Large Crafts. In all seriousness, it's all a matter of the hardware you have (higher per-core performance is better than a whole bunch of cores), as well as Unity being weird. We can only put our faith in the Unity 5 upgrade to smooth things out, though from what I've heard, there's quite a bit to be excited about!
  23. Mein Gott! That is amazing. Multi-part-and-planet-packs, here we come!
