  1. yea.. that is awesome science right there.. and beautiful
  2. There will be another Post burn conference at 1am EDT.. Not much happening right now except slowing down the spin and turning the panels back to earth in 53 days when it returns. All the instruments were turned off 5 days ago to minimize any danger for the burn
  3. Now when Curiosity confirmed wheels down on Mars, I woke up the whole neighborhood THis is just the beginning for Juno, and the start of massive amounts of Science
  4. Still has to slow down it's spin, and turn back to facing the sun. I am not celebrating til that happens
  5. 20 minute mark on the burn, and it is now not in a hyperbolic orbit, but "Capture" by jupiter
  6. 2788 Miles from Jupiter and it has reach Perihelion! and is traveling at 129,000 Miles and hour with main engine still burning, besides the Galieo probe it is the closest and fastest any probe has been to Jupiter
  7. Top speed relative to earth will be 0.02% the speed of light
  8. 575,000 miles from Jupiter, 12 hours to insertion. Now inside the orbit of Ganymede, and velocity is starting to noticeably increase. From 37k Miles/hr it should peak at 129k miles an hour at perihelion and get as close as 2800 miles from Jupiter
  9. 24 hours til insertion! and 27 hours til it completes its burn and communicates back to earth it's position. Where is that damn timewarp button!
  10. anything under 30t i use an SSTO cargo plane to bring it to LKO. With mining and resource creation i often have them reach LKO dry to save ascent costs, and refuel them in orbit. For one of my planetary missions i sent the Landers, orbiting mapping sattilites, Interplanetary Depature and return vehicles to orbit at 70t dry, and about 150t fully fueled
  11. YES.. at least for government funded missions SpaceShipOne pilots did not have space suits, but then supposedly the craft was designed to not have any possible faults.
  12. Nope. Those are used like Parachutes. Looking for something that works more like a heat shield
  13. In the Movie "2010" the Lenov uses aerobraking to decelerate on it's approach to Jupiter. The craft deploys disposable Ballons to aid in protecting the craft. If i had any skill at Modding I would do it myself. But i like this idea to have something inflatable to protect the craft when needed
  14. It got harder. Get gud Used to be I could do Aerobraking without worrying about anything. Now I have to design return vehicles for Aerobraking to save a few hundred Delta-V. I also have to spend a few hundred more Delta-V on ascent or risk having my booster do a barrel roll. the game changes and you have to change with it
  15. Made a large Fuel Shuttle, that can land on the Mun and take off when fully fueled (TWR of 1.6 on the Mun) to bring LOX to orbit and beyond from my Kethane Miner. Thanks to Mechjeb I get some nice precision landings within range of KAS winches Fyi the miner has a TWR of around 0.7 on the mun when full. But has emergency return vehicles for ... reasons
  16. Mine is less then 2 minutes, I do have a lot of mods (not as much as some). Just enough time to get a drink or go to the bathroom, or steep some tea I would stop playing a game if it took me 20 minutes to load
  17. right now I have started a Eve Mission. I have allready mapped it. and landed a "Fuel" truck on the surface. Just a rover with a fuel tank as a body. It is great for scouting out anomalies for contracts. Soon I will be sending a Kethane Miner, and A manned science rover and finally an unfueled (Dry) ascent craft. Follow up missions will include creating a colony and maybe some planes, and maybe LOX stockpile for future ascent vehicles
  18. There are some games I get so much replay value I wish there was way for me to give them MORE money.
  19. I had to do a save/revert with an Eve ascent rocket in my career mode. Tho honestly I could have done it in a sandbox version I think I had 3 versions that failed in the design phase, and had three versions tested until I was successful. Now I have to figure out a way to get my Kerbal to the top, so I can actually send the science bad to Kerbin
  20. Did a "simulation" for my Eve Ascent rocket. unpowered, dry, with just chutes. Got down to 5m/s and then it bounced... badly, and tipped over need to find someplace flatter
  21. As I mentioned before, I had a High orbit polar probe around kebin that didn't have enough fuel to de-orbit. So I transferred it to the Mun. When I got into the Mun SOI I just needed to do a 50m/s burn to get it close to a unmanned rover that was on the mun. Obviously this was not part of the military program, this was FOR SCIENCE! It revealed a minor bug/Kraken in the process
  22. I usually deorbit them. In my career game pretty much every moon or planet has both a ScanSat in Polar orbit, and a remote rover on the ground. All the "Fine Print" probes end up getting deorbited, or smashed into something. One of my latest high orbit polar probes didn't have enough fuel to de-orbit, but it did have enough to do a polar transfer to the moon. Felt kind of bad for it, becuase it probably thought it could stay up forever since it ran out of fuel
  23. As I am waiting for my First Duna mission to enter SOI. I had two first today. 1. Did a polar Holman transfer from Kerbin to the Mun, with a "Fine print" probe that did not have enough fuel to de-orbit. But it was high enough to do the tranfer and crash (eventually) into the mun. 2. Did a Suicide burn landing on Minmus, with my Kethane miner, first time i did it without circularizing my orbit after SOI capture
