  1. Could also be sleep mode/data saving on a device. I know that one price of equipment that I had would kill the WiFi when it went to sleep. Rather annoying as I did want to actively watch the IRC channels that i was in.
  2. The other answer is to hac^h^h^h edit the part file to up the power. Though doing such is beyond my ken... for now bwahahaha <thunder and lightning effects> Dang I missed my effects guys.
  3. Try again for the pic. You will need to use something like Imgur. For several reasons, which shall be left as an exercise for the reader, I am unable to view files directly off of your comouter. Though the presented path does confirm that you are using some variant of the Microsoft operating system family. And I know that there are some techno-historians that will say that several early nineties OSes did keep the letter conventions of MS. But, I they can be excluded as the skill to get KSP running in such an environment would be in the great master level.
  4. You still need to confirm and report back that driver version number. <insert riff on Monty Python's parrot sketch> When your system locks up tighter than [EXPUNGED. Wow, both vulgar and blasphemous, ed.] when renaming a folder you've got a few bigger problems than just KSP won't run.
  5. Just checking if you managed to confirm that driver number. The highest number that's rated for your card is 460-something, based on what's on the Nvidia site. But... given what you've presented for addition computer behaviors it looks like it is coming close to the state that some in the industry call hoséd. And it will need a complete stripdown-rebuild, not something anybody here will be able to walk you through, given your stated level of computer knowledge.
  6. best confirm that number. Nvidia doesn't have that high a driver number. Reboot <-- turn off and back on. Reset <- depends on the context... usually some form of revert settings to factory state.
  7. Which is really odd as the pair of commands don't touch anything but that specific folder. Reset or reboot? What is the version of the graphics card driver?
  8. Well let's try this. - Open the command prompt -type in cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common" and press enter -then type in ren "Kerbal Space Program" silly_folder press enter -then reinstall
  9. Been there. Done that. Got the t-shirt, the mug, and collector's edition hat. Proposals will be considered.
  10. There's an old saying in many circles, "Tardus Velocius", words which I will heed. As if I respond quickly I may say something... impolitic at best.
  11. Well given you didn't format and reinstall everything. I'm not surprised. So now we start at the top: - delete the KSP folder out of the steam folder - reinstall KSP - attempt to run - if it fails. move the KSP folder out of steam - attempt to run
  12. And thus we close the first act of our episode of "House". What is the full error message? Including error code. Throw solid reboot at it. Windows is both tougher and fragile than people give it credit for. But you _will_ want to start rummaging for your recovery media sooner rather than later.
  13. with what is presented in terms of symptoms and behaviours, and displayed willingness... no.
  14. If the card is sucking enough juice to turn your PSU inside out then, ain't much we can suggest. But the there is the usual of make sure your drivers are upto date, and/or get a new PSU.
  15. Two words "do it again." Alright, that's but the statement stands. The only other recommendation I can put on the table right now is the nuclear option. Format C: and reinstall everything.
  16. Going to assume Windows, dangerous I know making assumptions, based on that output. Now when you say none of it worked. You tried them just before the above post, or way back in that steam thread?
  17. Well let's "House" it then. And what are your system specs, while we're playing at this? Any AV, sec style software? Let's start things from the top... regardless of what you've done before. - Completely delete the KSP folder from wherever Steam put it. Not uninstall, delete. - reinstall it. And try again. - if it fails move the KSP folder out of the Steam folder and try again.
  18. You've confirmed that _all_ your drivers are up to date? Not using windows but right from the manufacturer. Did you try deleting the ksp folder and doing a complete redownload? You may also want to summarize what you did, and the order, rather than just point to another thread elsewhere.
  19. Well there is an editor that come free with the game. But, hand editing them is tricky at best, kraken bait in the usual case. What are you aiming to do?
  20. Looking at the YouTube pic, it looks like it should be possible in raw stock. Trying to build it, might help with your boredom. Launching it... definitely, but maybe have side effects on your frustration levels.
  21. lol wut? (sic) As counter-intuitive as it seems this is correct, and is one of the really difficult wetware problems of IT Security. At least here it is a reasonable eight characters and not the sillier ten or even twelve. As a relative comparison my bank, which has some legal requirements around this, requires at least eight characters, at least one letter, one number or character. One site I was interested in required a at least two characters from two different keyboard languages, as well as the classic four. Requiring all of the classic four means, at least, one of four things will happen. One, password reuse. People will find one or two passwords that they can remember that manage to make it though the sieve of the four. Two, near constant password resets. On an irregular use login like PD, assuming you didn't reuse a password, you try three or four times and then tap the reset password button, and then go through the whole process to get in. Which of course you'll repeat in six months or so because you forgot what unique password you used. Three, the password gets written down, either in a text file on the desktop. Or on a notepad next to the keyboard, which at least is air gapped. Four, they use a password manager. Which means you only have to remember one password, true. However, imagine having to replace your wallet and all the cards in it, but the only place the information needed to access is inside your wallet. Yeah, no perfect solution. But, there are less imperfect ones.
  22. The general answer is it's gone, as previously mentioned. There's nothing baked into the game that will let you do it. But.. if you have certain things enabled on your machine, it's only probably gone. On Windows if you right click on the folder and select "restore previous versions" and the resulting list is not empty then you can recover the best possible one. There is something similar for Macs, don't know about the various *nixs. There are a couple of black magic/voodoo techniques that rely on how operating systems overwrite files... but they lie in the magic smoke territory.
  23. The problem with powder-fluids is mixing. To keep things from getting very ... interesting when used in rockets (how interesting you may ask. "Oh god, oh god, we're all gonna die" levels of interesting) the mixing has to be _very_ uniform. If it isn't, you'll get hot spots, then burn throughs, then... interesting times. Hmm... maybe I should reread "Ignition!" always a fun book. I haven't read through the Perdue article... but a quick buzz on it, it looks like they have a different fuel for the solid fuel panty. It's a neat idea though.
