  1. Ver 1.4 Now with an updated IVA using the latest ASET Props & Avionics. Parts pack for Gemini missions. Features the Gemini spacecraft, Titan II Launch vehicle ( Can be used for the Dynasoar mod too ) and the Agena Target Vehicle. You should completely delete all LonesomeRobots mods and re-install all the latest versions from scratch. (Dyna-Soar has been updated too.) Also don't forget that the GameData/LonesomeRobots folder must be merged and not replace the existing LonesomeRobots folder as you install the mods one by one. This way all the IVA's will work correctly and reference the same and correct props for all the mods, reducing clutter and conflicts. You can read the reason for this below. ASET Props and FlightSystemsRedux are no longer bundled with the release. Only the relevant props from these 2 mods are moved inside the "props" folder of the HOYO mod. I had to do this since ASET Props have been updated, but for some reason the game crashes instantly when i try to use them. I contacted alexustas and he tried to sort it but it is kind of a freak case that applies to some OSX installations and he cannot help. So in order to keep the IVA fully working for people that have updated to the new ASET Props i moved all the relevant files inside the mod file structure. This way the IVA will work whatever version of ASET Props you have and even if you don't have it at all. I also have to state that i do not claim i made any of the props used in this mod.   3. Kercury, Kermini, Kerpollo (FASA) In this thread I will share my attempts to rebuild Mercury, Gemini and Apollo "likish" designs. Some are close to be replicas, some just share the common Mercury-Gemini-Apollo style. Vessel links lead to KerbalX (respectively my KerbalX Hangar) and contain all needed and useful data, such as used mods (FASA is the main mod used, furthermore some designs use Hullcam VDS) and AG specifications. I was thinking about using RO but I decided to keep the number of mod-dependencies and the complexity-level as low as possible. To launch this rockets, you may need FASA (and it's dependencies) (stock-compatible, non-RO) BDB (and it's dependencies) Hullcam VDS continued (not all vessels affected by this mod atm) Making History DLC (not all vessels affected by this DLC atm) The vessels have different mod-dependencies and all specific dependencies are listed separetely for each vessel. Kerpollo-Jool I (Apollo-Saturn IB) Uses: FASA Hullcam VDS Continued Kerpollo-Jool II (Apollo-Saturn V (payload lifter)) Uses: FASA Hullcam VDS Continued The vid was made with an earlier version of KSP and reflects the back-then design of the rocket. Some things have been changed in the current design, but it still reflects the basic design and funtionality somewhat well.   4. The Titan-Proton GLVM is a mix of a Titan II GLV and Proton-M rocket. The first stage is a Titan II first stage with Proton-M boosters, stage 2 is a proton second stage, stage 3 is a Titan II GLV second stage, and the payload inside the fairing is a Gemini spacecraft. Its the second of my "combined rockets", and works pretty well! You could probably put the spacecraft into munar orbit if your good enough with its fuel.   5. Still not survivable. The shuttle, especially in the early days, had huge “black zones,” where any kind of failure requiring an abort would be LOCV, either due to reentry stress on the orbiter or lack of thrust/control. Remember, at launch the boosters gave 90% of the stack’s thrust, until the orbiter/ET combo could accelerate itself, even “shutting off” the boosters would be LOCV. The pilot/commander on those first few flights of Columbia pretty much knew if anything went wrong while the boosters were burning they were boned. Oddly enough, that part never changed with “operational” flights.
  6. Gemini to the Mun Mission Report, Story and Events Concuring Gemini XVI, the KAS Mun Landing Prolouge: It is May, 1968, and KAS's Kerbollo program is falling backward. New intel has shown that the Krussians have developed a rocket capable of sending one Kerbal to the surface of the Mun. The Krussians had the early lead, however, ever since they conducted the first rendezvous and docking, they were now leading the competition. This new rocket developed by the Krussians would be a fatal blow. It is 3:43, and Martin Kerman storms in the mission controll building, shouting "keurekea!". Everyone looks over and see him holding the plans to the previous Gemini project. "What is it?" asks Gene Kerman. Martin responds, and says; "I know how to send you to the Mun". The Mission: It is June 26, 1969, and a Kitan II missle awaits launching on the pad. The Kerbal engineers look intently on the launchpad. Stafford Kerman and Young Kerman are going to launch soon enough, and seem to sweat profusely. The Kitan II Missle Awaiting Launch Stafford: "Mission Control, we are in the rocket" Mission Control: "Copy that. Don't sweat to much though, you might slow down the rocket!" Young: "Nah, we sweated enough already. We just had to fill the Klorida Everglade" The rocket was ready, although a truck that had sent the upper stage oxidizer the other day had an unpalnned rapid disassembly of the tire, senting the fuel crashing into the (empty) Gene Kerman Pawn Only Chess Klub, which was a lucky break for Gene, who had 118 Klubs to handle. Mission Control: "Ignition!" The Kitan II lifts off! Staford, Young : "Woah!" Mission Control: "Tower Clear" The two collective astronauts said little on the ascent to parking orbit, although a phone call apeared, from Korolev Kerman, stating that parking orbit was full. Undettered, KAS continued with the mission. The launch went by smoothly, although the Gene Kerman Only One Hole Golf Klub complained the noise was too loud, and asked a passing engineer to "turn down the noise!". The Kitan II launch vehicle as seen zoomed in from a Learjet (owned by KAS' founder, Jebediah Kerman, who also was the second Kerbal to Orbit) As the Kitan-Gemini craft was in orbit, Young reported that there was no ships in the nearby area, and claimed that parking orbit wasn't full. Here is the radio transmission: Young: "Young to mission control, parking orbit is empty" Mission Control: "Copy that." One of the pictures Young took while in parking orbit Transmunar-Munar Orbit Mission Control: "Mission Control to Gemini, you are go for TLI" Young: "What the hell does TLI mean?!" Staford: "Just burn!" Young: "Yeah, but what does TLI even mean!" Mission Control: "Mission Control to Young, TLI means Trans Munar Injection." Young: "I don't even have a needle! The acronym doesn't even match- AH!" At this point Staford burned the rest of the Kitan II stage, and then the rest was done by the modified adapter module. Gemini after Munar orbit injection, taken from Young's Hasselbald 16mm cameras, in one of the 16 palnned EVAs of the mission At Perimune, Staford insisted that he do the Munar injection burn, although Young was more experienced then Staford at piloting. Mission Control radioed Young Kerman Jebedias' Book called "How to Understand Mission Control Slang and Other Things". Young insisted though that he would rather had "53 More Things to do in Zero Gravity", a book that was not better selling than "The Hitchkerman's Guide to the Galaxy". After Injection burn though, either Young or Staford aciddentaly dropped some snacks on the radio antenae, and no transmissions were heard. Only after the burn to a sub-orbital trajectory did the antenae function once more. Munar Landing So devoid of essentials was the module, that landing legs were forbode Unfortunately, after landing, Staford's camera malfunctioned, and only a handful still were on the Hasselbald camera film. Here are the radio transmissions from the surface: Staford: "Well, here we are!" Mission Control: "Well, that is one trip!" Young, in the Command Module: "Did the Krussians say that parking spaces on the Mun aren't free?" Mission Control: "In that case, that will be 1 Kerbuck" Staford: "And one Kerbal step on the Mun!" Back to Kerbin The trip back to Kerbin was as eventful as the rest of the mission. EVA 13, of 15, was to be planned during sub-orbital flight. This EVA was to be brief, although Young, and the rest The repaired Hasselbald camera was also another first: the first ever untethered camera. The timer took this picture of Young riding Gemini, during EVA 14 of 15. of Mission Control was quite anxious. Although Camcot Kerman, a physician, was interested in the physical and mental effects of the EVA. She was promptly thrown out the front door of Mission Control, and sent to the nearest mental detention facility. Meanwhile, in the KSC, news had spread of a propellant theif, and an investigation was started A cop car, in pursuit of the propellant theif, passes by a bystander, who was also a journalist. He was the first to report to the public of the propellant theif. After 50 minutes, KSC patrollers find a clue. The fishy smell of hypergolics! Within the next day, they find the culprit, Walter Kerman, who claimed that it wasn't fuel propellant, but instead a snack enchancer. He was arrested on the spot, as a quick inspection of Walter's moustache showed he was guilty. Meanwhile in low Munar orbit, Young and Staford found themselves in a serious, serious situation. The tank was empty. The only option was to use the RCS to accelerate the craft into a Kerbin sub-orbital trajectory. However, for some unkown reason, some propellant was stored in the reentry part of the craft. Mission Control was already sining off, but Staford and Young's plan was just getting started. They took one of the pipes from the spare suit, plugged it in the fuel tank cap. It took some time, but after some Wherner Brand™ duct tape, they managed to fit it. Then, they took one of the umbilical cords, and connected it from the pipe to the adaptersection of the Gemini Space craft. Then, to start the pumping, they had to ironically dump some fuel. The only way to do this was to puncture one of the tanks. They took one of the sharper Mun rock spamples, and puncture some of the fuel tank. Soon enough, the fuel was pumping, and with some more Wherner Brand™ duct tape, they were on their way. In an interview after a month after the event, Staford said that "It was so stressful, I thought I was going to drown in sweat!" Staford, after the ingenous repair, peeking through happily back at Young. The picture is among the most famous ones of the mission Kerbin Reentry Young's camera took this picture during reentry On their way back to Kerbin, the Krussians saw on their radio a craft. The Krussians already knew that the Mun mission was failed, however the ship looked rather similar to the reported Gemini launch. Soon, they managed to contact the craft, and Gemini was now in contact with Moskow. Kouston was so far unaware of this, but they noticed in the (newely patched) patched conics that the Gemini craft was gone. Reentry was nominal, and Young took several pictures during reentry, such as drouge chute deployment. Young and Staford. There were only two film slides left after this picture. Back at home, Young and Staford became instant celebrity. Many Kerbals fell at the sight of both Kerbonauts. It is said that one Kerbal fainted while he was fainted. The Gemini Replica Thread Here is a place to put all your Gemini replicas, as well as unused propoals (i.e. Big Gemini) An excerpt from the Wikipedia page about project Gemini: Project Gemini was NASA's second human spaceflight program. Conducted between projects Mercury and Apollo, Gemini started in 1961 and concluded in 1966. The Gemini spacecraft carried a two-astronaut crew. (All stock) This is one is one of my first. Not exactly first, but, it is the first time I used the Communitron 88-88 as a sort of "Multi Layer Inlusation Foil". This is one is orbiting the Mun, as part of a contract to get science data from around the Mun. Onto advanced Gemini, we see here a Centaur upper satage docked with Gemini. As Kerbin is a little bit small, this craft would be overkill for a Mun orbit and landing. Instead I sent it to Duna, and land there instead. (Note that I did put an SPS engine in the back) Since KSP models planets a lot smaller than in real life (what is that?), the Titan II that I recreated had enough Delta V to send a Gemini capule, adapter tank and engine to the Mun. So technically it actually is a Gemini Direct Ascent craft . And the Titan II craft which delivers most of my Gemini craft into low orbit. I remember there was a thread about the Titan rocket family, but forgot where it went. I should post the link at the bottom when I find the thread. And Finaly, the last image, showing a Gemini rescuing a stricken Lunar Ascent Stage being rescued by a Gemini Space Craft (No Anti-Aliasing, so all pictures look like MS-DOS games)

  10. Project Gemini, NASA's second human spaceflight program designed to test the hardware for use with Apollo and its associated moon shot. Real life backstory and information KSP (with pictures from real life to the corresponding images) On May 25th 1962 the challenge to land a man on the moon and return him safely to the earth had been set. At the end of Project mercury, after Leroy Gordon "Gordo" Cooper had flown aboard Faith 7. At the end of the program NASA originally planned to use Apollo to test hardware for the moon. as that wasn't ready, a mercury MK-2 capsule was proposed, this was to be the capsule we now know as Gemini. Gemini 1 was a test mission and so was Gemini 2, Gemini 1 was intentionally burned up on re-entry, Gemini 2 was a test of the heat shield this was successful . Gemini 3 the first of the manned mission with the capsule "The Molly Brown" as a reference to the survivor of the titanic disaster Molly Brown, and because Virgil "Guss" Grissom's capsule had sunk. GEMINI IV Gemini 4, James McDivvit and Edward White, the first spacewalk by an American. With the first rendesvouz attempt which failed because of the lack of practical training White would be the second man to "walk" in space, and the first American to do an EVA. He enjoyed the experience and was reluctant to return inside the capsule, he did eventualy and on the 48th orbit they planned to re-enter the computer failed so on the 62nd orbit they did a rolling re-entry which was used in Project Mercury EVA in KSP, all i have because well more important parts are in the Gemini 3 section OH HI KSC! Next mission will be done in around an hour: Apollo 7 (Although the Gemini program is interesting Apollo is my main focus)
  11. I wasn’t exactly sure where to post this, but since this is technically an addon I am developing, it made the most sense to put it here. Anyhow… Yes, you read that right, a full size Gemini capsule retrofitted to be a “sim-pit” for KSP. The idea has been floating around in my head, basically since I started playing KSP years ago, but it just never really seemed like KSP, or I, was ready for it. Until now… The point of the project is to produce a Gemini sim-pit that anyone can build with supplies from a Home Depot (or similar) and access to general woodworking tools. The goal is not to create a perfect museum-quality replica of Gemini, but rather something which enables the Gemini experience for KSP without breaking the bank. I decided the best way to make the project happen was to crowdfund it with Kickstarter and in return all of the CAD, documentation, schematics, and software will be made open source for anyone to make their own capsule (or any subcomponent thereof). If the Kickstarter succeeds, I hope to bring the completed capsule to various events (MakerFaire, Gaming Cons, etc…) for people to take it for a spin. The design includes over 50 toggle switches, 10 buttons, mechanical panel meters, alphanumeric 14 segment displays, and 3D printed mechanical navballs (see NeoMorph’s work on his own navball here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/162666-wip-the-real-nav-ball-project-thread-2017-edition/ his work inspired me enough to create my own navballs very similar to his design for this project). All of these will be connected to functions in KSP using kRPC. Knowing the awesome KSP community I thought this would give everyone a chance to get involved in what (at least I think) is a really awesome project, and I’ve also created some super cool rewards for te Kickstarter.   13. Heyho This is my stock replica of the standart Gemini spacecraft with a Titan 2 Rocket as a lifter. It sits 2 Kerbals, and the seats are positioned like in the real craft.   14. I recently came across the following NASA image of the instrument panels for the Gemini spacecraft. I would like to draw your attention to part "A" in the upper left, to a specific component labeled "swizzle stick" Repeated internet searches yield nothing helpful on the matter. Anyone have any ideas what that is for?

Titan Rocket Family These are all based off the real deal: correct stripes, stages, etc. *Does not contain nuclear warheads; sold separately* There you have it, the entire Titan Family in one thread. I had a lot of fun with these, although it was a bit tedious getting the stripes "painted" on. It's possible I may do a thread on the Atlas and Delta family, so be sure to keep on the lookout.
