Wait, then what's the Orion SM for? Just the Lunar escape Burn?

Well, it also has to rendezvous and dock with the Altair + EDS combo in LEO.

EDIT: MRS, how many parts is your Altair?

I'm using the same Mk1 capsule idea in a Ore container.

However, my ship uses RCS.

Great!

I didn't want to use RCS because that I would have to use multiple nozzles.

Right, I still need to test that.

And, 191 Parts.

My ascent pod uses RCS. I have seen a proposed version of the pod that used RSC and multiple small nozzles. :D

OK, my Altair and Ares V launcher are finished. Just need to make the Ares 1 now. phew.

Care to show us?

Maybe with the Ares 1 when ready. The stock fairings are a menace. Impossible to make a separating inter-stage ring and you have to fire them off to stop a separated engine not firing due to apparently being stowed..

Thanks!

This is the 4th time I've launched that rocket, I'm trying to do a Altair Munar landing with it.

Let us know how it goes.

I have started testing my Ares 1. Man those fairings are hard to work with.. I have kinda managed to recreate the shape whilst still hiding the fairing bases. Only 120 parts making it the lowest part count rocket in my pack.

If doing this whole thing is teaching me anything, it's that SPH symmetry is very funny indeed. During the umpteenth rebuild, nothing was attaching right and I was ready to quit and start again. Turns out, there was one part that absolutely needed to be the root part otherwise mirror symmetry wouldn't work. Anyone else run into things like this?

I'm working just in the VAB. I haven't had that issue before.

I'm having real problems with these stock fairings..

The stowed engine bug is stopping me making a nice Ares 1. It's incredibly frustrating. Have Squad said it will be fixed in the next patch?

I don't think they've mentioned it at all. Is it the second stage engine?
