I tried to do this, just to see how hard it'd be. It certainly causes some limitations while designing. But along the way I got the following situation:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/10P7jx3FySCUxW3tne66Xqvy6tbjs8qmyvUASnMbH2Yc/edit?usp=sharing

What you see here are Hitchhikers that are attached by radial attachment points, but because I have offset the hitchhikers, they wouldn't be accessible though them. In the middle you see structural fuselage parts, with the outside hatch of the hitchhikers facing into the structural fuselage.

I know this was not your intention, but I want to ask if for this part, you could make it so that a crew-able part cuts a hole in this IVA, even if it's not aligned properly or attached radially.
That's an interesting suggestion. Allowing attachment to external hatches like a vacuum-capable airbridge would provide lots of interesting building opportunities. Having parts specifically designed for procedual IVAs, like your hub that the hitchhikers are attached around, would be an interesting concept to play around with. You're not cutting holes through equipment, you're designing a tunnel specifically for a craft, with IVA hatches automatically being placed inside when you attach parts outside. It's a great idea and I'd like to see what I can do with it in future.
I know we all want to ask, but fear of ban because bumps, so I'll go ahead and ask. What have you been up to as of lately, and when do you think (even if it's a rough estimate) we'll get some previews of the next version? :D
It's been nearly a month since the last status report, so I think you're safe to ask :) Life has been extremely busy for the past month, and next month will likely be even more busy. The only KSP development I've managed was to update Collision FX, Water Sounds and Rover Wheel Sounds, which had been broken by the 1.0.5 release. On the plus side, 1.0.5 was a great release for Free IVA. If you've tried out Free IVA with 1.0.5, you'll see that the new cockpit IVAs have been made traversable by crew with properly aligned doors, hatches and lots of fancy internals. Porkjet has been very busy :) Edited by pizzaoverhead

I don't even know how you run that many mods... Best of luck man :)

What parts does this mod support? Just stock?  Id like my Apollo capsule from FASA and other mods to make use of this IVA mod.

It should support anything with an IVA, but might be a bit buggy.

God I would sooo love to see this finished. It's something that should have been done long ago.

A small suggestion and forgive me if someone already suggested it, can't you make the whole thing inside IVAs exactly like going on EVA but rather in first person view? Wouldn't that be easier for gravity purposes and in general a bit smoother and more realistic?

But nevertheless I'm dying to see this in a final version, I'm in love with first person views especially for a game like KSP (yeah that's probably because deep inside I wanna be an astronaut :P) anyways keep on going man. Great work!

I'm not sure I follow what you mean here. Could you explain it further?

They could be asking about the movement controls? :)

I second though; I just can't wait for any further development of this. It's so cool :D

He is talking about making IVA movement the same as EVA movement, rcs-pack and all that jazz. Just in first person.

What the guys above explained (thank you), I'm not sure if that can be done, probably not since IVA views are different than going on EVAs but I thought I'd suggest it anyways. If it does work, RCS packs can be made invisible (since you can't really move without them in 0G).

I think he means that somehow it could be going on EVA in first person(which has been done before, so no problem there) but be in the same space as in IVA, with collisions and everything. This would add micro gravity/inertia, but I'm not sure about the EVA packs while inside a ship.

I don't know if anyone has thought this before, so, I'm sorry if that's all said.

Since you can make walls transparent it could be possible to make windows transparent. Other mods that try to hide the opacity of windows adding reflections said that you'll need to change the model of ships to make windows transparent, but since you've already done that, making walls opac and adding a kind of semitransparent layer to windows, it could be possible to see trough them!

This combined with reflections will be so awesome, I know it's a 'not today' idea, but when things get ended in the IVA department, it could be a great thing to add.

Thanks for the mod, it's amazing what you have done!
