KerbalX user BadBattery made an airplane in the shape of the USS Excelsior, which can be found here. He expressed the wish to have it work as an SSTO.

After very heavy modifications and with his permission I now present to you this stock Excelsior which can take-off and land back at Kerbin. It's just not the best SSTO ever and only my second.
