EVA Portraits on Chairs and First Person View

Recommended Posts

Here's a fairly simple suggestion regarding the new EVA portraits for Kerbals. I love the addition, but just two more features along the same lines would go a long way.

1: Portraits in chairs. Kerbals sitting on external command seats should also have portraits.

2: First Person view. Equivalent to the IVA view on the internal portraits, we should be able to enter a first person view on vessels with external command seats. In addition, a first person view for EVA would be amazing and it's a feature a lot of people have been wanting for a long time. And the control scheme should be changed to be more like a first person control scheme, with W and S going forward and back; and A and D strafing to the side. Both movement direction and look direction is controlled with the mouse, but the mouse can be toggled with a right click, just as in the look-around on the IVA view.

Agree. It would be especially nice if you could set up the new science experiments from this view.

I don't think there should be EVA portraits in the first place though. It's off-putting to see a kerbal's face while also seeing their back. Also the display doesn't update fast enough.

I've seen this mentioned a few times... but they seem to update just as often as the IVA portraits, and no-one's ever complained about that?

It seems to be dependant on something because every video I've seen has a different refresh rate for the kerbal cams. Mine in particular is very slow compared to others I've seen with apparently realtime views.
