Thanks for that little “right click and drag moves the MechJeb menu” tip, I needed that! Wondered how the menu had mysteriously moved half way across the screen in my current game and kept getting in the way of Kerbalism’s window in my RP1 game.

I got frustrated a while back because of it conflicting with other tabs… not sure if it’s listed in a FAQ or anything for mechjeb but should be !

Was flying low science removed? I’m quite surprised that you’re already in 1952 with just a few rocket launches and not a single plane to scrape up the airborne science.

Yep, flying low has gone, residuals added, pressure tank changed, pressurant added etc… plus I’m playing ‘conservatively’ and not simming anything …..

You could try a two-stage rocket and shoot downrange, using the rocket you have now with something Aerobee-related on top, or try recovering the entire rocket and launching it again.

Iv actually recorded a few of these in a batch… If I was pushing to complete the 3000km down range ASAP I would possibly have gone heavy into materials science to get to integral tanks then go something like you mentioned…. The changes to Separate Structure tanks in recent updates means it’s harder than before to get the 3000km done (add in the need for avionics, residuals, pressurant etc)

as it is I think it’s around episode 10 or 11 for 3000km down range as I spend my time doing one of each of the different sounding rocket contracts first ( been a while since I used anything but British engines so was odd lol)

Fuel tank utilisation in wings starts at 1% by default, that caught me out when I was making X-planes. You can crank that right up to get useful quantities of fuel in your wings.

That “high altitude” experiment, unsurprisingly, requires flying high- I believe that means 50km on Earth- and not just going fast. Mach 2 is the obvious choice as it only requires flying fast and not too high.
