you should make it so that kerbin is auto scanned because that is realistic

How is that more realistic?

On earth we have to 'scan' as it were for where resource deposits are. We dont know where they all are, even as long as humans have been drilling into the earth for raw resources. I live is south Texas where the oil and natural gas industry's are all over the place. Even the smallest of drilling companys have geologists on staff to help determine drilling sites.

LOL their version of reality is slightly warped.....perhaps they reject our reality and substitute their own?

Call me crazy but I wish scanning could be more complex...even for Kerbin =P

Maybe the geomap only gives you aprox locations, a ground grew (AKA eva kerbals) would then have to go to the area and shoot small probes into ground to get better lock on drilling site(this is kinda a method used by natural gas drillers, they use radio transmitters fired into the ground with little cannons that relay info to computers).

Now that sounds like fun.....but then i would be playing KSP so much....

Sounds scary and super hard. I'm in.

I'm having an issue where the kethane map disappears.

The only mods I have installed are FAR aerospace, procedural fairings, and Kethane.

So far I haven't been able to reproduce the glitch and I have no idea what's causing it.

Seriously. That's what I do for a living. I wish the Earth was "scanned", that would make my career a heck of a lot easier.

I just realized if you gave kerbals something like canons......can anyone else see where i'm going with this.....

Yes I do...it would lead to some very kerbal chaos =P

And really, how is a little blasting cap cannon worse than a rocket with tons of high grade fuel?

Lets not forget that Kethane is a gas not a liquid (isn't it??) so what these detectors are picking up is distortion a in the light reflected off the surface. Through various scientific formulas those distortion a are used to determin the composition of the gas leaking from the surface. The map shows you where it has determined that it is Kethane.

If you think a gas pocket located less than a meter below the surface Isn't leaking, then you must also believe it is an underground storage facility placed there by some other race to just keep it safe :)

Heck, we can tell from Earth what some planets in nearby solar systems have in their atmosphere. It would be much easier from 100-200km away I would think.

they cant turn a rocket sideways and go gansta on each other.....

Hahahaha

Seems you have never seen '25 fun things to do with kerbals' and 'more fun with kerbals' on youtube. There was in fact 2 rockets turned sideways...

=P

I've got the same problem. Flew to Duna last night, set up an orbiting probe at 125Km, could hear the probe making it's beeps as it passed the various cells but the grid was not overlayed on the planet. When I moved the camera around so it was inside the planet I could get the grid to show occasionally and see the white and green cells highlighted. The probe is doing a scan correctly but the overlay seems to be broken, on Duna at least.

I my computer, the problem is that the Kethane is not showing in the map. I see the hexagons, the bip on searching and finding, but the green for Kethane is not there. Only map grey!

All the way. on 7 degrees of inclination.

I too am having issues running Kethane 0.7.4 with KSP 0.21. I have installed MechJeb 2.0.8 (tweaked via another forum user to run), KAS for 0.20.1, and ISA MapSat X4r1.

When I enter map view I can see the Kethane Scan Map window, but enabling it does not toggle the display. Zooming in and out of the body will cause it to flicker briefly, then disappear. Can't say if this happens on all bodies as I'm still tinkering on the Mun.

I know I'm not alone in valuing the extra dimensions of game play your wonderful mod has created. Thank you for helping make KSP the game we love.
