Do you use the launch escape system?

I used to use the one from KSPX for use with SHDI SMS, but now I use the tower from Aerojet Kerbodyne.

I would use it if it didn't use up a nosecone parachute slot; I need that for Mk 16 XLs, so I'm still using sepatrons instead

I'm using the tower when launching the big pod, and try to rig up and escape system for the 1-man one, too.

The escape tower only adds weight, and you only need it when things go wrong anyhow. That won't happen right?

If it does though, any Kerbal made of the Right Stuff would rather bail and aim to land helmet first to bounce to a soft touchdown.

Nearly always, except for missions where i need a more compact system, then i use custom designs.

WW1 pilots didn't have parachutes and they were being shot at. So there's no need for parachutes in a game where nobody shoots at your stuff

Uh, I always us a launch escape system, just not the stock one. Partly because I'm playing career and the stock one only unlocks about 2/3s of the way through the tree, while the mod ones I have unlock at tier 1. Mostly because the stock one doesn't have a built in decoupler like the Aerojet, Soyuz, and Apollo ones I have.

Never felt the need. I find whacking the spacebar repeatedly works well enough when disaster strikes at launch.

It's easy enough to set the LES to an action group to "decouple node" with a regular docking port and firing the LES. Then again, I kinda wish there was an LES at tier 1, maybe just a scaled down version that you can put on top of a parachute.

I'm used to making a LES from stock parts so that's what I still do today, works best for me, and easier in career mode when you haven't unlocked the LES

I really like the idea of it but there's just too many reasons not to use it personally. Firstly I prefer parachutes since they['re helpful with successful missions. Secondly what do I do with it if I make it to space? Can I drop it or will it fire my command pod off of my ship? most importantly though if it doesn't fly I revert to the VAB to start making tweaks instantly, so there's literally no purpose to the device for me currently. Maybe with finance added and the ability to revert flights removed I would feel more tempted to use it.

Has not used it yet, has an standardized 1,3 and 7 man ssto, escape system is killing engines and disconnect pod, the 7 man uses two seperatrons to slow it down before landing.

I like the idea of it for when safety and money are actual components of the game, but until then I rarely use it. Mostly because it's far too high up in the tech tree.

I always have an Abort system set up, but never yet the new LES. My designs so far have always wanted the nose for something else: the asteroid lander on Tycho, the main claw on Macbeth, and a shielded docking port on Chamberlain.

Why bother when it takes up space that could be used for a hundred other things and I can just quick load if something goes wrong?

I'm just in the habit of immediately reverting to the VAB to fix the problem, so it wouldn't serve much purpose for me
