In KSP the general rule says "if your rocket can't get to orbit then moar boosters" but, if your non-symmetrical stack is unstable, the rule is "moarrr gimbal" :sticktongue:. Not just a crazy value, those are the ones used from the modded RS-25 by the Direct mod.

Well, sorry but it was not that easy, it's been ages since I used my Buran setup (1.2.1) and in 1.2.2/1.3 is pretty unstable, I guess it need a revamp like the old N1 parts. So, I got it working again doing the following tweaks:

  • The Zenit boosters are overpowered, so limit their trust to 85%
  • Above boosters are not aerodynamically stable, so clip a pair of deluxe winglets  on each one.
  • If flying an empty shuttle, lower fuel to a 75%. You may have to tweak fuel amounts depending on your payload

I continue to have no trouble using this pack, with very little modification, to get a buran-like shuttle into LKO. I generally always clip 4 fins into the base of any large rocket, and don't have a lot of stability problems on launch. Fiddling with the tops of the Zenit boosters to make sure they don't collide with the orbiter's wings on separation is by far the most difficult part of construction/mid-launch.

The only part of the flight profile that gives me any real trouble is circularizing the orbit, since the thrust coming from the Energia core has a pretty serious angle of moment from the center of mass once you get up to about 80-100km and the main tank is mostly drained. (I partially solve this by using a single medium-thrust engine on the back of the buran orbiter and manually cutting the thrust of the energia core down to like 8-10% ... it's not 100%-Buran-Like , but it has been the most practical solution I've found)

Gonna say now ab launchers works perfect with 1.3...with coramont areonolagy...no i use CA's buran and it keeps falling backwards. Help please
