Signatures that count views?

As I look around the forums, I see signatures that say "This Sig has been viewed _________ times"

How do you do this?

When you load an image you request it to a server.

Some servers are cleverly set up to generate the requested image on the fly.

Couple it with a file saving the visit count and voilà. You got an image that shows the amount of times it was requested.

I'm torn on giving advice on this, because I usually don't like such things (and honestly, very few people care how often your signature has been seen). But if you must, google for "image hit counter" and find a free one, then embed that image into your signature.
