No, unless you count a quick glance to see who it's from as texting. If I needed to reply I'd pull over. But currently I don't pull over every time I get a text. Fishing my phone out is distracting.
  12. ok so I know nothing about programming, so help me understand this. The bug has a known fix, which can be downloaded as a "mod," and is a very small file. So why is Squad fixing the bug an accomplishment? Or something that wouldn't take like 2 seconds? Am I naive to think you can just plug that little code from the fix into the release in a minute or 2? Do you have to start all over from scratch? I used the bug fix mod and it worked great.

    Apple Watch

Here's where it would be useful for me. I'm not sure it will be useful enough for me to get it, but certainly it won't be "just like my smartphone." I get a lot of texts due to work. They're often at awkward times, driving, running, skiing, seeing a patient. Often they are trivial but sometimes are critical. So now I have to get my phone out of its holster. This is tough when driving and distracting. It's rude in front of a patient and I don't do it, but do stress over what the message is until I can get out and check it. Or maybe I'm on the ski lift, and since I'm a bit clumsy (don't worry I'm not a surgeon!) I'm afraid of dropping it off the lift and will not take it out. With the watch, a quick glance at my wrist will at least allow me to know if it's a message I need to respond to or can ignore until a more convenient time. Same for phone calls and caller ID. Pulling my phone in and out 100 times a day is something I could see not even realizing was affecting my life until it's .. gone. Or at least significantly reduced. This is particularly good for professionals like me who can't ignore calls and messages but at the same time most of the ones I do get are not urgent.
  14. I tried Twitch a few times and also found it very user unfriendly. It still blows my mind that nothing is archived. What is this the 1990's? I remember searching and searching for a certain video and when someone finally told me you can only watch live my jaw hit the floor. They are obviously not that interested in growth.
  15. Thank you squad for your great work. Congratulations! I'm really looking forward to seeing what you've cooked up for 1.0.
  16. I'm sure he mean losing money by not working. This may be crazy to everyone but I NEVER play a new game or version until it's been out at least a few days. I've been burned far too many times. I'd rather wait until the weekend.
  17. Cheers from me. I'll buy any of you a drink if you're in Denver. Or whatever is your intoxicant of choice
  18. I think the whole Kerbal thing says it's not a sim but a game. In fact it took me a while to buy it because it looked too cutesy for me. So IMHO it's actually way deeper and more realistic than I thought it would be. And it's realistic enough. I'll never forget how early on when I was struggling to land on the Mun I designed a 2 stage lander that actually dropped a stage during descent to the Munar surface. It wasn't very efficient so I moved on to other designs. Well imagine my surprise and gratification when I was reading a book about Apollo and the author said that NASA considered exactly that model, but discarded it as too inefficient. Real enough for me.
  19. Well that's depressing, I thought I was reasonably experienced but came in at the lowest category so I'm no better than the rankest noob. What did I do for 360 hours? Maybe you should include points for repetition. There's a huge difference between barely landing on the Mun and just making it back and doing it so many times that you can't remember why it was ever hard. Then landing a rover, or building a base. Or precision landings for artifacts. Or landing, flying around, landing again, going back up to Munar station to refuel, repeat. And docking, doing it once by luck isn't quite the same as putting together and taking apart space stations like giant tinkertoys. Or burning RCS in map mode and getting rendezvous to less than 1k.
  20. We'd be waiting a long time indeed for February 30th. I agree with your last, we adults instead get our expensive gym shorts in a wad, throw a depression fit, then get drunk.
  21. I finished ME 1 but not 2. I've only finished about half the games I start, they're just so darn long and eventually I want to try something else. I never got sick of KSP though, I had to force myself to put it down for awhile so I could play something else. As soon as 1.0 comes out I'll be back. I use a few mods but generally don't use a lot. I'm always concerned about messing up the game. Whenever I try to install minecraft mods for example the game won't run. KSP fortunately is simple to mod but other games not so much. I don't like to alter the game's fundamentals so I use graphics and sound mods mostly, and of course precise node.
  22. Thanks this all sounds great. This really is a polite forum, the majority of respondents were nice enough to include some thanks or compliments prior to launching into questions and/or comments. Nice to see basic courtesy still lives on the internet.
  23. We all learn from our mistakes, that's why I'm a genius.
