  1. It looks like KSP is misleading a lot of non-scientists on what "doing science" actually involves. If you think "doing science" is picking up moon rocks, inserting them into a box with flashing lights and out comes iPhone 8 and flying robotic uber cars; you are very mistaken. Science is not laying around on the surface of moon/mars/kepler186-f waiting to be picked up and transmitted back to earth. All of the science "happened" on earth while the Apollo missions were being planned/built, not after they landed on the moon. There simply is no incentive to go anywhere else right now. Sending humans to other bodies is like the super-rich buying art they don't really appreciate at auctions, They do it just to show others how rich they are. Planning a vast array of robotic missions would lead to giant leaps in hardware, electronics and AI which will directly lead to better quality of life for everyone on earth.
  2. Thank you, Heartstrings.... Still working on the mouth, do you have any ideas to make it look better?
  3. Last weekend's progress. Finished the body and attached everything together.... Will have to paint the spacesuit and a second coat of hair. Not happy with the mouth yet, any suggestions on how to make it look better? Also, words of appreciation/encouragement for my wife would be greatly appreciated... [Quarter on right foot to scale the kerbal]
  4. 1) Looking at slide 12 of your last link, it looks like the bulk of the RCS ports are located at the window cavity side ( 2 pairs of tangential and 1 pair of normal RCS thrusters). There seem to be 3 pairs of RCS on the other three sides of the MPCV. 2) The animation is depicting re-entry precursor steps. After the pod detaches, RCS is used to rotate it to the correct orientation for optimum entry angle. After that, the normal RCS thrusters fire for a short duration to increase the distance between the fuel tanks and the command module (you don't want them smashing into each other when they hit atmo).
  5. You might want to google Coriolis effect and Eotvos effect... Since you are traveling from one point to another in a rotating body, you're in a non-newtonian reference frame. This applies even when in atmosphere (That is how hurricanes(cyclones) get their shape).
  6. Thank you for this amazing mod, Papa_Joe.... Do you have an ETA on the next release with the fix for part highlighting?
  7. What orbital inclination are the planetary relay satellites on? Is Mun or Minmus blocking the LOS between your probe and relay? Try to put your relay in Molniya orbit to avoid it from being blocked.....
  8. I'm a noob too, but I'm guessing you cannot drastically change your AoA when switching to rockets inside the atmo. Doing so might cause 3A.
  9. Awesome! I can now start using life-support again.... Looking forward to using this with US....
  10. Is there a way to transmit science from my unmanned probes to a station in LKO which has an onboard MobileProcessingLab to boost its value before sending it to Kerbin?
  11. Depends on what mods you have. Looks like you don't have remotetech, but if you have any life support mods, time would be an important factor. If you are playing the stock game, let them enjoy their vacation....
  12. You might have to add the button manually on the toolbar. Try clicking on the down-arrow on the toolbar tab and add the IR button...
  13. Have you tried using the "IR" button on the toolbar to bring up the controls?
  14. Try this! The page has links to different skybox textures and also instructions on replacing the stock skybox with the downloaded ones....
