  1. If I am in a low orbit around Mars (let's say 100k), how long will it take to complete a whole orbit around the planet. Need the info for a book I am writing. Thanks in advance.
  2. The moon has mascons (mass concentrations) because of its lower gravity, it has higher density in some areas than in others. So a space station would have to use a lot of fuel constantly wich would not only cost a lot, but meddle with crew timetables.
  3. The Moon has mascons. Which means that orbits have to be kept up a lot and so a space station would not work very well and be dangerous.
  4. It's a shame that Gus Grissom died in Apollo 1. He is one of my favourite astronauts (up there with Neil Armstrong, Jim Lovell and Yuri Gagarin)
  5. It looks really good. I like your drawing style.
  6. Jeb always survives. Keep up the good work!
  7. I did look them up, I have been reading books about them as well. I have the rough outline of what I want my SSTO to be, but I thought that the KSP forum would be a nice place to go in order to learn about what I should use.
  8. I don't need too large of a heat sheild because I won't be travelling at large speeds or through a thick atmosphere, and when I said plane, I more thought something that I could use during re-entry to get better control.
  9. Nice, how did you get the texturing of the outside, Photoshop?
  10. Well I can use the aquifers for that!
  11. I didn't know that there was much Meathane in Mars' atmosphere. So thank you. The colony is based near a large aquifer, so this will be perfect.
  12. Sometimes Decouplers glitch out and don't separate, but you can fix it by using different ones. There are four different radial decouplers and if linear decouplers are not working, then you can use separators.
  13. Thanks for the tip, although I don't know where I would get an easy source of meathane on Mars.
  14. Hydrogen yes, Neon and Uranium no, but I could swap out the nuclear engines for areospikes and turn it into a spaceplane (with the same features).
  15. It should be a space plane though. Sorry for not being clear, but the colony which uses it needs to be able to reuse it quickly, which means that I cannot use ablative heat sheilding or staging.
  16. I doesn't need to be big, but it does need to carry 20 people to low orbit. I cannot use a space gun as the technology in my book is not very advanced yet.
  17. Could you please post designs (it can be pictures or descriptions) of an SSTO that could get into an orbit around Mars from its surface. I am writing a book which needs to have the SSTO and I would like to learn from the community what features I should add.
  18. This is really good! It explains everything about the game
  19. Depends where I am going. *Interstellar - An interstellar ramjet or antimatter Throughout the solar system with time to waste - Ion or Solar Sails Throughout the solar system quickly - Chemical rockets/*Space Elevators/*Mass drivers
  20. They had to keep doing course corrections the whole way because they had put the mass of the moon rocks that they would've gathered into their calculations.
