  1. Just timewarped. I don't recall any further issues once that flyby was done.
  2. I saw similar behaviour once before. That time it was my Mun periapsis on a flyby that was steadily creeping down, regardless of the orientation of my ship, when I wasn't at timewarp.
  3. Considering the comments in the chat there, I think I'll pass.
  4. I suppose it depends on the entrants. If they're mostly KSP vets it's fine. If they're mostly newcomers to the game, then with experience you might be better involved in supporting the competition, and not entering yourself.
  5. I suspect that anything that's not some crazy recursive function isn't going to beat alemagno's current numbers. Although, just in case, maxing out Conway's chained arrow notation, 9->9->9->9->9->9->9->9->-9>-9 *doesn't even have the foggiest idea how big that is, except BIG*

David. I feel kinda bad about getting them straight away.
  7. I must confess confusion here. Why does a{n,m}b expand to something with n levels while a{n,1}b expands to something with b levels, for example? Edit: And what's the order of evaluation in something like a{n-1}a{n-1}a{n-1}...{n-1}a{n-1}a{n-1}a , or can you show it's not important?

The next issue of a comic.
  9. That would only be valid if we were talking about temperatures, in which case -0 K, game over. But since we aren't, 4. Pretty sure that's the biggest number so far
  10. G↑GG Where G is of course Graham's number, and ↑n is n repetitions of the arrow in up-arrow notation
  11. 410, which is 10101010, made WA completely give up, but following the trend from smaller top powers it's 1010,000,000,000 digits.
  12. 2(1011) (That superscript before means tetration)
  13. ntoskrnl.exe The exact value will vary depending on the Windows version on your PC, but it will be on the order of 256^l , where l is the length of the file in bytes. For example on my current system it's around 256^3914176

I think Vexx's chess riddle actually lasted longer than my Batman one. But anyway, I'm waving play on this time round.
  15. Buoyancy has indeed been considered for this. I believe 3 g wouldn't be a problem. Higher and you start having problems because the air in the lungs isn't the same density as the water around. A potential solution to this problem is to breathe an oxygenated fluid instead. I believe that so far we haven't found a fluid that can be oxygen-rich enough for humans, though somewhat-successful tests have been done with other animals (as in the animal didn't die straight away). This approach might enable humans to withstand 100 g, though practical issues like eating and excretion would limit the duration. Then again, maybe you could just put people in water-filled pods, induce sleep, and supply oxygen and nutrition and remove wastes intravenously.
  16. Reasonable rewards but massive penalties might make sense. Keep doing well and you'll get by, but one screw up and it could be game over. I wonder if the save file can be edited to push the values beyond the 10-1000% range?
  17. Any particular modmakers doing this? By which I mean specifically coding their mods to check for architecture and refuse to run on 64-bit, as opposed to just writing a mod that happens to crash or have bugs or saying they won't troubleshoot 64-bit issues.
  18. Gained a better understanding of how the angle you fly off from Jool (or anywhere) at affects your travel time to solar periapsis and crossing Kerbin's orbit.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! It is indeed the Batman Theme (the one from the old cartoons). The elements being Americium (Am/mA), Nitrogen (N), Boron (, Astatine (At), and Sodium (Na). And blame jokes such as this graphic for inspiring the vexatious riddle.
  20. Between platforms 9 and 10 of Kings Cross Station, London. Once I'd fitted it all out I'd open it up to tourists and rake in the millions.

Well, time to say more about that seemingly-overlooked detail with the next pair of clues. One beyond the planets reversed. One in airs of Earth dispersed. One that stars just cannot form. One that's rarer than them all. Lots you shouldn't in water dissolve. Mix around, this riddle to solve. Clue 1: As a few people have surmised, each of the first five lines refers to a different element. The answer, though, is nothing to do with chemistry. Clue 2: First figure out what element is "beyond the planets", then reverse that element. Clue 3: The second line refers to one of the main gases in Earth's atmosphere. Clue 4: I wouldn't expect stars to produce heavy elements by fusion, but what about light ones? Clue 5: The rare element is Astatine. No great surprise there. clue 6: The fifth line refers to one element, repeated lots of times. So the overall answer includes the same one or two letter sound repeated over and over, plus a word or words made from the previous four lines.
  22. I wonder if rubbish cheap power supplies aren't behind the habit of overspecifying, because people find that a "500W" junky power supply isn't able to power a system that draws more like 250 watts. A quality one with an appropriate output for the build will do much better.
