  1. This is what happens when a complex and relatively fragile mechanical object (a car, or a space probe) collides with a much more solid object (a solid steel plate, or the super-cold ice surface of Europa) at a mere 300 m/s. https://youtu.be/Nl8xTqTUGCY?t=1m30s Nothing but the most hardened solid objects, with limited electronics, is going to survive an impact like that. And such a hardened probe would itself have a huge mass of metal compared to its useful payload.
  2. It will hit at at least Europa's escape velocity, so about 2 km/s. That is twice the speed of a rifle round. I question how useful any "probe" that could survive that would be.

With any luck Unity and in turn KSP will support it. But unless KSP gets more graphically demanding (which it might come 1.2) I doubt it's going to matter for anyone with not-potato hardware, even on Linux where the only option now is OpenGL.
  4. Oh, is it a water fight? Well say hello to my little friend.

  8. We've restricted the playing area to congestion charge zone only, so Asian Continent isn't allowed. Now I'm going to play Kensington-Olympia, which will naturally take us away from the east and is a good place to keep our spies safe.
  9. I'm another who's been running 64-bit KSP on Linux for ages without any problems. I just *really* hope Squad don't screw up the Linux build with KSP 1.1. I know another Unity 5 game which did just that, though the devs did patch it quickly.

  12. Green Army, return! Go, Charizard! Flamethrower!

  14. I'm sorry Maximus, but my pieces are in another castle.
  15. Skilfully controlling the throttle, I drift my Scaletrix Mercedes round the outside of your train and into first place.
  16. I use one of my Hawkeye challenges, which confirms the queen is IN. Now it's my serve, and I drive it down the centre in a stroke that would make Nadal proud.
  17. Throttle up, panel lock, SAS engage, 3 2 1 space! My pawns blast skywards.
  18. Bittorrent makes everyone who downloads a torrent also redistribute it, even if they don't seed after the download completes. So if there are mods with licenses prohibiting redistribution, well those licenses are being broken right now by everyone in the torrent's swarm. Though there may be the defence that it's not even possible to *read* the licenses any more without downloading the torrent.
  19. Surely the horse fled *that* stable when the torrent was released.
  20. As for it being an abrupt closure, which I know some people have commented on: While Cmpwn didn't say it outright, maybe he hit an issue that he couldn't fix easily, and so decided "forget it, close the site".
  21. You'll have trouble finding a new PC with an older version of Windows, because Microsoft always push the latest one. If you can wait, I'd also say wait for 1.1 to actually release when people actually find out if the thing is good at using multiple cores.
  22. For what it's worth I never had any major problems using Kerbalstuff. The downloads weren't fast but they always came, not many mods I got were big enough for the speed to matter anyway, and it was a way better experience than the one-click hosters. And the only bug I ever had was with subscribing to email alerts.
