  1. I finished my Homestead Mk3 inflatable module for DSEV. This is the third version of the module, and the best one yet:
  2. Might have to push the circular array out to the next release, but I'm making progress on the Solar Hex Truss: It will be a dual-axis solar array that also has a huge ElectricCharge store.
  3. Oh, and today is the two-year anniversary since DSEV hit its first release! I'm happy to have Odyssey Two timed for the second anniversary.
  4. Wasn't planning on it, but you can sort of make it using existing parts and the almost complete Odyssey Two release. Odyssey Three will have most of what you need to make a kerbalized version of this: That is NASA's NAUTILUS-X. I'm planning on making the hexagonal corridor (which also forms the hangars), adapter pieces, the radially attached command pod, and centrifuge with 2.5m core. Possibly the solar arrays and a big thruster plate as well (though you could just cluster tanks for that). No VASMIR engine though, it's thrust is too low for that. I'm looking at a different engine.. Here's my concept craft: You don't really need the thruster plate , and that would reduce part bloat. Also, the D2 modules will have a mesh switch option to wrap them in hex panels to form that long corridor. The hex hangars will be just large enough to fit a 3.75m module...
  5. And finally, the props: Stock: ASET: Secure ice cream eating communications mode:
  6. The LES does indeed come with its own decoupler. I usually tie it into an action group, first adding Activate Engine, then adding Decouple, so that the LES shoots off into the unknown. @Geschosskopf Loving the story! Your MOLE 2 looks great, and it sounds like BARIS is giving you some good challenges. Still more bugs to fix with it but at least it's mostly working.
  7. Tried to consider its use as a set for stories by @JustJim and @adsii1970 when making the overlay: The Homestead can be used as a command pod- it requires a crew of two- but it's not as sophisticated as a dedicated part like the Clydesdale Orbital Command Pod. @Krakatoa There will be a conference phone in the hab deck.
  8. Getting there, might not have the props done before 1.3.1 drops, but the IVA is mostly done: Pilot's station: Command deck's engineering station: Science deck: Hab Deck: Those girders are needed to support the structure..
  9. Got the exterior of the new Homestead done: This is the new Kopernicus reference design, based on NASA's Copernicus spacecraft.
  10. Thanks! Just a bit more to do... The end connections are 2.5m, same as the other station components.
  11. Ok, not quite done: Have to match the color scheme of the other station parts. Needs more tweaks but almost there.
  12. CKAN messes up my mods, so I don't support it.
  13. That's one way you could do it. The other way is to pile more workers onto a single project.
  14. I unwrapped the Homestead Mk3: Then I took a break and made a Duna Ascent/Descent Vehicle: I can fly it just fine from orbit, then slow it down enough to go vertical, but I need MJ to keep it steady as it lands VTOL mode. Still, it works. I also made a Duna Base Camp:
  15. Making progress on the new Homestead module: This version is not as wide as the previous version, and I've cut the windows in and unwrapped the mesh. Now it's just a matter of texturing it. With luck I'll have it and the remaining parts done before 1.3.1 is released, but I'm running out of time.
  16. The legs aren't really meant as landing gear, they were made to lift up the body so that you could slip a chassis underneath. I haven't gotten around to making them full fledged landing gear yet.
  17. Someone pointed this out to me today: https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/new-mars-concrete Interesting article about making concrete on Mars without water..
