Do you feel KSP is ready for 1.0?
Yellowburn10 replied to hoojiwana's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
While KSP may not have the massive community as Minecraft does, it still does have a pretty big and supportive community as evidence of us talking about this right now. I just put that out here to show a botched 1.0 doesn't mean the end of the world. -
Do you feel KSP is ready for 1.0?
Yellowburn10 replied to hoojiwana's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
It seems most of the posts I've read that said KSP isn't ready for 1.0 are from people who aren't saying it for their own sake, but for squad's. They say things like "We don't want to see the game flop as it goes gold," or "It's going too fast, all these new features will need more testing." I don't blame them at all, I'd hate to see the game flop too. But I feel that squad wouldn't have decided to go to 1.0 if they weren't sure of themselves if they could. They know as well as we do that this is a massive undertaking with big risks attached, but if they feel they can handle it, I'm not gonna stop them. And just for reference, back when Minecraft reached version 1.0, there were still plenty of problems to be fixed and features that could of been added before then, but last time I checked the game wasn't a flop. Why would it be different for KSP? -

True, but leave it in the oven for too long and it could end up being overcooked. -

Personally, I think only 2 other things would need to be added in order for the game to be totally complete in my image: At LEAST one other gas planet, and some form of reentry heating. But besides that, if squad keeps their promises with their mountain of features they planned, I'll consider the game complete. I know for sure time-wise though that KSP is totally ready, because it's been in early access for, what was it? Close to 4 years now? I don't know too many other ErAc games with that long development time. -
Jeez, it was just a suggestion, no need for hate comments here. And trust me, I've heard worse

...I was referring to the color or their skin, but ok.

I'd put my money on either gerbals or van's texture replacer. I think it would be kinda cool if female kerbals were actually a different color, possibly maybe a pink or purple.

Hey there, um, still a bit of a forum noob here, so, can someone please explain WHAT THE HECK'S GOING ON??

Upset people are an inevitability for games that have such a diverse community like KSP's. Take .25, for example. After the release dropped, countless people wanted squad to bring back the old wing parts because all the craft they made were broken, they looked ugly, and among other things, the control surfaces specifically were not the right sizes for some. I even heard a group of people threatened to boycott the game because of this (good luck with that ). Now, that's not to say that those people didn't have a cause to be mad, but it seems we've forgotten something important when we all got the game, and it's that while in alpha AND beta, any and all things in the game are subject to change and there is no guaranty that what is here now will work in the future. If squad does or doesn't want backwards compatibility, it's up to them.

This is what I love about this community. When we are shown things like this, we don't immediately explode and yell at each other side saying things like "WE NEED REALISM!!" "NO, WE NEED FUN!!1!" "REALISM MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER!!1" "NOT TO EVERYONe!1!one!" Granted, given the chance things could escalate like this, but for the most part people seem to be respective of others and their opinions, even when their opinion greatly differs from theirs. Speaking of opinions, I'm not too concerned on whether the new aero model will be more or less realistic. All I see is that it will be better than the current model, and that's all I'm concerned about. Less soup, more air.

Do you still use the old rotation keys?
Yellowburn10 replied to Superfluous J's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The cool thing is though is both the gizmos and WASDQE controls are available, meaning no one is force to use gizmos for everything (even though it's increased my craft productivity/creativity ten-fold). Personally, I see ASDWQE placement as making a mold for the creation you want, and the gizmos as polishing to make it fine looking. -
He's not saying it's grindy, but rather when it is, he would rather have many more parts to test than just rocket engines and landing gear.

Finally, a proper way to build a hype train! Now with maximum kerbal capacity!

KSP 0.90 'Beta Than Ever' Grand Discussion Thread!
Yellowburn10 replied to KasperVld's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It seems the reason the building upgrades seem a bit unbalance is because squad has delayed the 1st tier barn. The plan had for 4 stages of building development, not 3, so removing a building stage has had it's obvious problems. Personally I really liked the barn, whether or not it was ready design-wise. Hopefully squad will have the barn ready next update so that it satisfies most everyone. Also, I'm not finding the contracts too grindy for funds on normal. I even adjusted my settings to make R@D research cost money and made my starting funds very low. Even with that, it only takes a couple contracts to have enough money for my missions. But, that's just me. -

Eh, I have a worse idiotic moment. I accepted a satellite contract, not knowing that when it said a probe with "power," it meant having stuff like solar panels on it, not just batteries. I only have 2 contract slots still, so now I'm stuck with a contract I can't complete, and having to go to the mun with a minimal part count and budget. -
Yeah, this happens sometimes. Including in real life! For example, there was an asteroid a while back that was captured in earth orbit by the help of the moon. After several months, though, it eventually left earth's SOI. Pretty cool though, eh? I've had some close natural captures myself, but nothing has actually put itself in a stable orbit.

It seems that a proper "hard" mode is tough to completely iron out. Like just last update, people were complaining that hard mode is too EASY, which I find ironic. It seems though that .90 has a far better hard mode balance than .25.

I'm glad we are in beta but...
Yellowburn10 replied to Fried's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
They're still planning to do some sort of deep space refueling now that we're in beta, but it's not quite clear on what exactly they have planned for it. But they did say that they weren't planning on adding any new "resources," so to speak. So, probably just ways to mine liquid fuel and oxidizer or something. Clouds should also be coming some time during beta, but don't take my word for it. Multiplayer is actually being planned for after full release, if I recall, but they've started testing things for multiplayer starting since a few versions ago. -

I also agree that the tech tree should be revised, but not just one way. I think squad should add multiple ways to order the tech tree. What I mean by that is, say, what if you got to choose if you wanted to start your game with manned parts, or unmanned parts? Or choose between rocket parts and spaceplane parts? That sort of thing. When Squad revises the tech tree, they should have this in mind. Now, concerning THIS update, I absolutely love it! I'm finding fun new career challenges with the buildings and contracts, and building challenges with the mk3 parts. One tip for the parts though: WINGS. These things require a huge wing surface in order to get off the ground or to even glide well. But make sure to find a balance between that and drag, because as most of us know too many wings equals too much drag. -
Ok, so I'm trying to do a mission in my career to put a satellite into Kerbin orbit, but whenever I launch my vessel, in the contract completion tab, it doesn't say I've launched the vessel. The probe I have has an antenna and power (or by power, does it mean some kind of solar panel), so what's up?
