Try to spawn a rover on the grass to get rid of that \'sticky pad\' bug: Then yaw left (\'A\' key) and very slightly increase throttle, being ready to drop it immediately when the rover begins to tilt.
-
We\'ve got a kind of engine race here, are we? Two Berthas; OK then, challenge accepted 8). I guess I know how to snatch 10 m/s more... Here, let me introduce my brand new Sky Freak I. Why \'freak\'? \'Cause she\'s freakin\' unstable and tends to stall... at any speed. But, anyway, she\'s got 756.9/831.1, and a safe landing. Without losing an engine))
-
The ship will certainly blow up as soon as you\'ll leave KSC territory. See here: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=4383.0

I dunno whether these rules apply here, but FIA surely require them both . Anyway all my attempts include two passes in a single flight -- and a safe landing afterwards. In training flights I, errr, have lost that Large Bertha a couple of times -- but in record flight I\'ve managed to land in one piece. By the way, the task would be much more simple if \'single flight\' was not the rule. Which screenshot do you mean?
-
That NovaSilisko\'s Large Bertha can do even more. 703/767.5 in a single flight. P.S. And landed in one piece
-
Yep, they do. If they don\'t make the craft toooo heavy))
-
Errr... a question to topicstarter (maybe a bit tardy): does both passes and landing have to be shown in a single flight? And does the plane have to land in just one piece, or it may lose some, well, lesser important details?
-
Second attempt. \'Moar boosters\', said Jeb; Bob complained, but nobody cared. 325.7 \'(censored)\', said Jeb.
-
thanks ). Try to get more from this baby, that would be interesting. For example, find some way to prevent engines from overheating... without overweighting the plane. Hope GroundHOG2010 will update my leaderboard record to 310.6
-
Here you go) C7 only. P.S. Size does not matter, all C7 parts have very low mass and drag. EDIT: ah, just forgot to mention. Launch quickly, before the plane falls.
-
Thanks But wait, that\'s not all. I\'ve figured out how to make a lighter plane... 1st pass -- 301.7 (yeah, it overheats. Note two winglets on the side nacelles -- they\'re cooling the engines down). 2nd one -- 319.5. Touchdown. Done.
-
Well, well; here\'s my Trimotor Baby. 1st pass: 268.3 2nd pass: 276.8 (yeah, this baby eats fuel like crazy! I\'ve wanted to waste its last fuel tank before 2nd pass to make the plane lighter -- but I\'ve needed some fuel for landing). Landing: ...and our hero itself. Still with 1 tank almost full.

Just make it light -- and it will go fast. 265.1. Jeb\'s happy

(Mostly) Stock part Mun rocket
Tosh replied to Ivan Ivanovich's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Try to keep vertical speed below 2m/s... and horizontal speed at 0. With the lander I\'ve shown it\'s quite simple: burn retrograde until green marker begins to move to the center of NavBall, then gradually drop vertical speed keeping green marker centered. Use ASAS between course corrections. Slow down to 5m/s when below 1000m, and to 1-2m/s when you see a lander\'s shadow on the ground. ...and hope you\'re not heading to a steep slope -

Yes, that works too) -
Easy... when using ASAS in addition to LFT/LFE.

(Mostly) Stock part Mun rocket
Tosh replied to Ivan Ivanovich's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
\'Stock leg\' can be built with two or three radial decouplers and a winglet. It\'s quite heavy though. -
Surely it does. I meant this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupolev_Tu-154

a) Run faster, or take a screenshot of a bomb kicking your plane and post to \'awesome pictures\' thread in \'General Discussion\' Speaking seriously, I was hit by my rocket too... two or three times. But generally rocket is much lighter and much faster than your ship, and cannot \'come back around\'. If this is not the case -- try to go slowly to let the rocket fly ahead. Ah, yeah, some launcher designs can be found in http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=4291.0 thread.

Once I\'ve been playing with \'around-the-world-glider\' and have left my computer for a couple of hours. Upon return I\'ve seen the glider\'s run out of fuel and safely landed on water. Gonna try to reproduce that... [uPDATE] Managed to land on the water at 10 m/s even with full fuel tank. But look what I\'ve got when taking off: Yes, at that \'magical\' 12.6 m/s I\'ve lost all the wings. Jeb\'s been quite surprised))

D\'ya mean MK-83 explosive device? Nope; I like \'em to fly, not to fall
