Evangelion is very good, but don't expect to understand what's going on until after it's all done. Just roll with it.

Given that this is already possible in the Steam version, that's a fairly safe bet. -
When I was born, Elvis was alive, the Vietnam war was still going and Nixon was US President. I spent the first five years of my life thinking that Superman (as portrayed by George Reeves) was a kind of purplish-gray, because that's how he looked on our black and white TV. You've got a way to go yet.

I've never actually had to resort to "get out and push" for propulsion, but I do end up using it fairly regularly to spin a ship around when I've let the batteries drain with the solar panels facing the wrong way. Although it's usually not so much "push" as "headbutt at high speed".

Intakes for the tailplane-mounted cruise jets, I assume. -
[0.90.0] Fine Print vSTOCK'D - BETA RELEASE!!! (December 15)
Wanderfound replied to Arsonide's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Realistic, though. "Let it crash into the nearest big lump of rock" is a fairly standard way of disposing of a no-longer-needed short mission satellite, whether an impact probe is required or not. They'll usually run some sort of impact experiment with it, but that's largely a matter of "waste not, want not". The primary motivation is often just minimising space junk. -

I'm quite fond of Hyomoto's MFD: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/66198-0-23-5-Kerbal-Space-Industries-26APR14-MFD-1-2 Currently requires this Hotfix patch as well: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/66198-0-23-5-Kerbal-Space-Industries-26APR14-MFD-1-2?p=1258586&viewfull=1#post1258586 -
Mk3 Spaceplane Bits
Wanderfound replied to Wanderfound's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
It's probably a bit much to expect the modders to produce a full Thunderbirds pack, but I wonder how hard it would be to mod in Thunderbirds music for launches? -

Likewise. :-) Not quite sure how to apply K-syndrome to International Rescue, though. Do Kerbals even have nations? -
Mk3 Spaceplane Bits
Wanderfound replied to Wanderfound's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Well, the VTOL is in canon at least: Okay, okay, I'll stop spamming Gerry Anderson pics. But really, with some appropriate large Spaceplane bits and a mild tweaking of Fine Print contracts, KSP would make a fantastic Thunderbirds simulator... -

Realism in KSP - Various Ideas with Pros/ Cons
Wanderfound replied to I_Killed_Jeb's topic in KSP1 Discussion
You seem to be workng under the assumption that "Sigvan's personal preference" is identical to "the vast majority of players". I think that you're mistaken in that assumption. The evidence of these forums (and the existence of a large and fanatically dedicated KSP fanbase in general) strongly suggests that your preferences are not at all representative of the bulk of KSP players. I suspect that you're also mistaken about the preferences of the gaming audience in general, but even if you aren't: so what? Not everything has to be keyed to the lowest common denominator. Squad is not in direct competition with whichever piece of mass-market fast-twitch garbage is fashionable this week. The market is big enough to support more than one style of gaming, and it is not necessary to sacrifice everything to the pursuit of market share in order to make a successful game or a profitable gaming company. Yeah, if they tuned down KSP into yet another piece of vacuous arcade candy, Squad might increase their sales for a month or two. But the cost of that would be to alienate most of the existing user base, drive off the substantial pool of non-traditional gamers that are attracted to KSP, and destroy what it is that makes KSP more than just another piece of EA-style profit-driven ephemera. Squad would change from being the producers of an exceptionally successful, exceptionally high-quality non-traditional game into being just another maker of mindless trash scratching around for the crumbs dropped by the large traditional gaming houses. No thanks; not interested in that. -

Likewise. The navball integration is great, but I'm sorely missing the ability to check distance to target without having to switch to map mode. Something that selected the next waypoint in the sequence without having to go via the map screen would be nice, too. Getting distracted from your piloting when you're doing Mach 5 at 12,000m is rather dangerous. -

Ford Mykey spped limit dumbest idea ever made
Wanderfound replied to Pawelk198604's topic in The Lounge
Agreed, but for probably somewhat different reasons. I've been riding motorcycles daily for twenty years, and I habitually travel about 20% above the legal limit (when I judge it safe to do so; at other times, I'll be travelling substantially below the limit). I ride according to the conditions, not the regulations. I haven't paid a speeding fine or any other traffic violation in that time. Haven't broken a bone or shed a drop of blood, either. The cops and cameras aren't hard to spot; if you can't see them in time, you're not paying sufficient attention for the speed you're doing. -
We know that Squad are working on making the Mk3 Spaceplane range less useless. We also know that they're integrating SP+ and cargo bays. This strikes me as the perfect opportunity to combine the two, resulting in something like this: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbird_2#Thunderbird_2 What would you like to see done with the Mk3 line? Do you think that there's any chance of two parallel sets of large spaceplane parts, one Shuttle-style and the other more SP+ in theme?

While I'm not disagreeing that making it stock would be a good idea, there are a few solutions at the moment. As mentioned, TAC-FB and Goodspeed. Goodspeed is the better of the two; the only problem with either of them is that they make fuel lines redundant and remove some of the engineering challenge when building. And designing on the assumption that Goodspeed/TAC-FB will handle things makes the design dependent on those mods, which can be a problem when sharing designs. As for the engineering solutions: * Spread your fuel load laterally around CoM rather than longitudinally. Getting CoM to dCoM offset to <1m isn't too hard. * Arrange your fuel lines to make the tanks drain in the order you choose. On multi-engine planes, I normally have forward-mounted lines running from the lateral tanks to the core, and rear-mounted lines from the core to the lateral engines. This makes the tanks first drain from rear lateral to forward lateral, then forward core to rear core. The CoM stays roughly centred throughout, and any weight shift is initially towards the nose, avoiding the "CoM behind CoL" issue. * Use right-click tweakables to lock off the fuel flow from a forward tank. This will stop it draining prematurely, as well as enabling you to designate a tank as "emergency reserve". You can fine tune this by doing things like locking off LF but not O on certain tanks.

I think my vote may have just shifted from deformable terrain to swimming animations for splashed-down Kerbals.

Wanderfound replied to Arsonide's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
RPM includes external mount camera parts itself, although they're fairly basic. Things like ALCOR include some nicer looking ones. They're pretty much essential for IVA flying: I keep burning them off, though. Cameras seem to be Deadly Reentry's favourite snack. -
Devastating Report On Record Greenhouse Gas Levels
Wanderfound replied to rtxoff's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Aww, you made a straw dolly just for me. You need some practice at doing it, though; that one doesn't look much like me at all. As linked above.: http://www.economist.com/news/21566414-alternative-energy-will-no-longer-be-alternative-sunny-uplands Anyway, I'm out of this before I lose my temper and invoke the wrath of mods. The science is known; it's the politics that are in dispute. That sort of discussion is better done at http://www.realclimate.org than here. -
Devastating Report On Record Greenhouse Gas Levels
Wanderfound replied to rtxoff's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I think that you're most likely dramatically overestimating the feasibility of practical fusion power and the speed at which it could be put into large scale use even if it did exist. Currently existing renewables appear to be doing better than expected; for example, see http://www.economist.com/news/21566414-alternative-energy-will-no-longer-be-alternative-sunny-uplands Waiting on a fusion miracle strikes me as analogous to a passenger on the post-iceberg Titanic reassuring themselves with the thought that we're totally going to invent a genuinely unsinkable ship any day now. Ain't gonna happen, and even if it did it would be too late to save the passengers on this ship. It's time for a mutiny; storm the bridge and take over. We're still probably all gonna drown, but it's the only chance we've got. -

That is an awesome idea. Indiana Kerman: Egg Raider. -
Vernors are worth looking into as well; just a few of them pointing forwards will significantly enhance your braking abilities. Just make sure to keep 'em toggled off when you don't need them, or they'll waste fuel and make docking much more entertaining.
