  1. I don't use DDSLoader (I'm on a Mac and haven't found a compatible version). Note that this also means that I'm effectively using force OpenGL since Mac doesn't have DirectX. After playing for a couple of hours my memory is sitting between 1.15G and 1.3G, down from a previous 1.7G to 2.1G after similar amount of time playing. Once in a while the game unloads unused objects and my memory usage drops to 800-900M. I've only seen one crash since installing this and playing for 3 hours and the crash was due to a nullref in the VAB, not memory usage. I'm completely floored by how awesome this is to the point where I'm considering installing more mods!

On my install (63 folders in GameData, AVC reports 29 mods and I've removed many similar parts), I usually sit at 1.78G on the startup screen, with ~1.8G in the VAB in an otherwise empty sandbox save with a modified cfg with scale & normals_scale set to 8. With the aggressive 4.0 beta installed with scale back up to the default of 2, I'm now sitting at 628MB(!) on startup screen and 950MB(!) in the VAB. Generation of the cache took well over an hour, and it was well worth it. I'll report back later today after having played a while if I notice any issues.
  3. Just drop it right in the root of GameData, alongside the folders of other mods.
  4. Is there any interest in having a maintained version of this file? Turns out I had essentially done most of the work in this file until I found it. There doesn't seem to be a github repo to send push requests to, so I'm considering starting up my own.
  5. I have exactly this problem too, I can't quite narrow down which mod might have caused it, it might be cause by an interaction between mods? I'm on 0.24.2, disabling all my mods is not a reasonable solution here.
