yeah, that would be a guarantee(if nothing goes horribly wrong in my life) that i am here but really (again as long as nothing horrible happens to the train or me) i will be able to hit the 1:30 mark -

Yeah as a recoverable first stage lander. It should probably be able to lift 10-25 mT to LEO but if you can squeeze more it'd be fine. The splashdown engine configuration is better for heavier payloads I agree. We could possibly even push this to 100 mT with that sort of design. -
I am pleased to announce that RSP will start a full production cycle and experiments on a new fully automated reuseable landing system. Thanks for the inspiration SpaceX

On the NASA public press conference elon has confirmed this is slated for reuse in a few months time if it passes all the tests

@Dman979 , @MadRocketScientist i want the 3 of us to perfect this,i'll have a holiday vacation of 2 weeks from the 19th so i'd love there to be a prototype of a lander to test code on by then, it can be a single stage on the pad but it needs to have at least a couple of throttleable engines that are capable of at least 2 ignitions. we'll talk and work more closely on this in a skype chat or a pm thread on the forums here -

currently the ss-02 dosnt have any SRBs and the code does check for engine power and is capable of launch abort automatically (like the one the falcon 9 had a little while ago) with a bit of tweaking to calculate % of thrust from each engine you mark with "first stage engine" on the part tags in kOS (or checking total stage thrust which i think is in there) you could easily program a launch abort to include all the first stage engines including SRBs oh and you should probably change the check to a loop if you are gonna use the part tag system. ok ok ok SpaceX now made it impossible to me to not want to recreate that achievement- put me as the head of the booster recovery program @ZooNamedGames and @Dman979 THIS IS ON, SPACEX! -

Well the basuic equation was mathematicly guesstimated what was tested was the specific variables. I've been able to shave 400 dV out of the launch with the new profile (the frac exponent was 1.0125) -

It's highly specialised, the staging events and flight path are built from trial and error of simulations, the abort sequences are also based on staging. But the base structure should be transferable to other rockets also guys don't be afraid to ping me, it's just that I don't have enough time to invest here(and some different perception about how this should run) but it dosnt mean I don't like this project, I'd still be happy to help from time to time -
I am sure there's a very small minority of people here that have ever written 1500 lines of code for a platform so interconnected as a game, not to talk about the endless possibilities of ships,staging events,fuels,symmetry parts and engine thrust limits. Those guys over here care about the game and it's state,they care about the community and they come here and listen to you and give thoughtful responses and try to explain to the masses the difficulty of programming such an endeavour. NathanKell and sarbian are here not because they are obligated to but because they care about that subject- as they said- they too play with dV readings on their personal games and would love to see it go stock but it's just not the right time to pour all the resources needed for it to work completely on the first time, And QA? oh don't get me started on that, MAYBE if they wanted to test something like that they would release a closed mod to get this thing tested but as a full release? i mean are you serious? just thinking about the amount of edge cases makes my head spin. In conclusion, while it'd be a nice feature to have around and a massive addition to the toolset we have to work with i think we should stop demanding it to be done now and while not forgetting this- move on to new features,requests and ideas. You cant automate a launcher. but the independence 7 has code for a full launch procedure, consult ike on this he should know the ins and outs of it too. wish you the best of luck! EladDv. -

i am sure there is no shortage of programmers here but i'd like to offer my help as a kOS programmer for automation of several launches and flights, would be used for manned and unmanned to take pressure off the pilot and prevent human error and time delays that are caused by a lack of connection or the speed of light. There was a bug at the final staging event and it was fixed (a little check of maxthrust that wasnt zeroing out due to the active orbital maneuvering engine) other than that i could automate the flight even more so and make it suitable for unmanned flights, another optimisation i would like to do is the flight trajectory and i'll work with the Trajectory officer to find the most efficient ascent profile. The code as it stands right now: -

I'm Proposing a 3/4 date for the next launch, we want to expand to more launches soon and the basic craft and software are complete, the problems were KSP mod ones not lack of quality of the craft or software -
we're all doing it wrong! we are all having fun the wrong way! we must align ourselves with the views of the OP! he is the one to rule us all and determine what fun is, now really everyone is having fun in their own way- i enjoy writing kOS scripts, blowing things up and messing with the kraken- all 3 are totally unrelated from each other does that mean i am doing it wrong? HELL YEAH! does that mean i should change the way that i play? HELL NO! should you or anyone frankly care how i play?again that's a HELL NO!(you know other than the devs if i discover a bug)
