  1. Hi everyone, I recently installed the newest release of RSS along with Realism Overhaul. Everything loaded perfectly except for the KSC. My install included the Switcher which used to be with the older RSS versions. For some reason, each of the KSCs are off of their position. For instance, the initial launch center at The Cape is on the ocean, and Baikonur is underground. Is this a problem with the height maps? I've never had this problem with a RSS install, so any help with be appreciated!
  2. My KSC is on the ocean, away from where it should be. Is this a problem with the height maps? I have the KSC switcher installed and they are all either in the ground or on the ocean.
  3. February 14th marked the 25th anniversary of the famous Pale Blue Dot picture that was taken by Voyager 1. Carl Sagan requested that NASA turn the Voyager in the direction of Earth for one last photograph. Distance of Voyager 1 to Earth from this picture: 3.7 billion miles 6 billion kilometers 40.5 AU Earth's size is just less than a pixel.
  4. My deepest condolences to your father, he had a great hobby that you should really look into. These images came through my handheld on the 2 meter band. I am working on putting an antenna on my roof for my base, I don't want to stand in the cold much longer. What got me into ham radio was the satellites, then I looked into repeaters, which is what is motivating me to get my license.
  5. I am not licensed, as you know I cannot transmit. Although, I am working on getting my license currently. And it seems you live in NJ as well, we might have to talk again sometime.
  6. Well, the obviously this here isn't illegal. It's the same as receiving SSTV signals from the ISS as many other operators including myself have done. And thank you these images took quite a while to work with, and denoise as much as I could. - - - Updated - - - I have listened to many other sats out there, it's quite interesting I must say.
  7. No.... No I am definitely sure it isn't, the frequencies are public for everyone to see. I've seen others do the same and they aren't in jail. There shouldn't be anything wrong about this, and I thanked NOAA publicly as well.
  8. Since I am an amateur radio operator, I managed to record and decode signals from a few NOAA sats in polar orbit. These images date from September of last year, to a week ago. These images help determine cloud cover, sea temperature, thermal imaging, vegetation, and so on. If you want to know exactly how I got these, please ask, I got the time. If any of you live on or near the Eastern Seaboard and want an image of a certain time, please send a request. These satellites make passes a various times during the day, and the whole process can take up to an hour. I also can record SSTV images mainly from the ISS, but I will have to know ahead of time of when these will occur. Please go to my imgur here: http://imgur.com/a/2XQR1
  9. Hi, is it possible to make this compatible with RSS? I think it will make launching Cubesats into LEO more interesting.
  10. Oldie but Goldie... https://soundcloud.com/firehawk85/sputnik-1-memorial-sstv Enjoy.
  11. Right, yeah I noticed that early on when I was applying the images. As for everything else: Thank you guys for the support of my work, I had these pictures for a while now and just decided to share them. I will be posting more soon; this thread is more of a public gallery than just about Sputnik.
  12. Here is the recreation of both Vostok and Voskhod.
  13. Sputnik 1 Launch using Real Solar System.
  14. Also, here is my Explorer 1 picture.
  15. Here is my Sputnik 1 recreation through KSP. May we remember Humanity's first spacecraft.
