@SpaceXray Thats not how tech works. You can't leave it in a hangar x-years and expect it to work or to be serviced by ppl anymore. Tech Know How (Operation) is as important as the tech-hardware itself. There is no "take it out the hangar for last resort" type of reality, thats pure hollywood scifi, they always rationalize it with the need for the audience to recognize stuff...

Sry to say this guys, but what he needs (especially for KSP) is good single-thread performance,...AMD is not a good choice right now for that. I won't recommend you anything here specifically, because 1. i would need to know your budget 2. where you are willing to buy (you are not building yourself, so you need a vendor), give us a website but if you are looking to go really cheap...stick the cash you have in a good CPU and go with the integrated grafics card, whenever you want more graficspower you can spend 50-100$ and triple the performanc easy. Upgrading the CPU later is a pain if you don't know how, and you don't (as you told us).

Never underestimate Hollywood stupidity. Never underestimate their arguments either: "we are doing it because the audience doesn't know better and thus we have to put in things they recognize. SaturnV is a recognizable object, so is shuttle, so is a supposed to happen chinese space station and bad russians".

End-Game Suggestions: Post Yours!
Geneborg replied to Sirnanigans's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
My personal end game goal? Creating a fully autonomous colony on planet X (=insert planet here) with a population as large as my computer can handle. Yes, i will use mods to do it, at least for the time beeing. If Squad ever rethinks its stance towards lifes support systems and resources (not only fuel) then also in stock. In career? Well...depends on the point system, but i will probably unlock everything (tech) and collect points till i get bored if there is no mechanic ala "you collected points-x you win". If i put in a 3rd goal, basically a "realistic human spaceflight scenario", then i will go mining stuff on other planets and have a fully functioning transportation system back to Kerbin that is "cost effective". Why? Because we humans need more resources to grow out of our planet and do what we du best: colonize/harvest everything -
Thats a mean joke, but i like it. Just substitude the N-Word (the forum doesn't like) with German (as its been 70 years now, the new ones don't know anything about Tech) and it works fine

How in the World do you Dock?
Geneborg replied to PK_Starstorm's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Many have already stated what to do, but 2 simple questions: 1. do you know about secondary RCS controls (IJKL+HN)? 2. do you know you have to correctly position RCS thrusters or your ship will constantly try to change attitude while firing RCS? -
Its called USI now, combines MKS (Modular Kolonization System) and OKS (Orbital Kolonization System), in combination with Life Support, Scansat and stuff you really can dive deep into this kind of gameplay, alot of new resources to mine and organize, it gets quite complex.

Ah, sir, you are the first to notice/mention it. Thats the only CGI shot i made manipulating raw-footage to create the illusion of a perfect rocket-launch. Sry to say, its not an ingame-mod, its pure CGI. Maybe SQUAD will work on that on the road to 1.0, they reworked explosions, it should be doable to rework launch-smoke.

didn't get the comment at first, then i realized "sure, the screenshots", haha

Well, tbh, these cases get blown out of proportion. This happens all the time, and still these laser pointers are not banned. Yes, they can "cause distraction", they don't blind anyone. Its like pilots complaining about solar-farms blinding them, but its more like a bright spot in your view, you simply get distracted, not blinded. Thats not nice, but its not catastrophic. Putting ppl in jail for YEARS is just way over the top. The cases i followed usually concerned criminals with priors, so basically the use of a laser pointer on a plane was just the last drop in the bucket for the judge to say "you just don't learn, do you".

I'm very excited about this, i really am. All i expect from SQUAD is an expandable system. They just have to put in 1 refueling resource as long as mods can change that to indefinite complexity later. The basics would be to just put in an "extractor" of some kind, can be atmospheric or for soil. I would appreciate a way to combine resources so the system can be open ended. In the end the perfect system would include building stuff on other planets, basically a self sufficient colony as "end game goal".

Thx Andrew, appreciate the sentiment. I'm sure Squad has seen this and they have their reasons to or not to feature it on video wednesday (see the PN i wrote you), thats their prerogative. I'm sure there are many others that made some clips that would have liked to be featured, so i think its not for me to push on that issue, thats like saying "feature me i'm better then everyone else".

What would you want in the next update (0.90)?
Geneborg replied to EvilotionCR2's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Tbh, career balancing. Yes, i think this is very important to set it appart from Sandbox. You guys know games like CIV, where you have this "just another round" feeling. Something like that should be what you get in Career, like "just another mission to unlock cool XY". I would be disappointed if Career would just be Sandbox with an "unlock everything in 3 missions" part. Of course some basic stuff like deadly reentry, better construction tools (filters?), expandable resource system for modders, female Kerbals and Fairings!! Ultimately i hope it can get to 1.0 fast, sell well, and then SQUAD may have the incentive to sell well made DLCs worth another 6-12 months devtime. -
Sometimes one does wonder why SQUAD didn't implement this mod 1:1. I'm sure they have their reasons, but as an outsider its difficult to think of a good one. Does anyone have any insight?

Well its been a week, time to look back. Seems that the hope of gathering enough traction to get this clip outside the community to spark interest in "non KSP players" will not happen, the realization set in on Wednesday. We missed the mark, obviously. Maybe there will be a next time, closer to 1.0.
-
Yea...that was an "unfortunate" camera angle, but the RCS thrust was of course to get distance between the 2 objects. Now, on the point of you thinking that the normal american can't space, you just made the exact same mistake. Don't judge ppl, its not their fault for not knowing in a society that decided that "dumbing down" everything is the way to go. KSP is not without its own fault in that regard btw...i just name "deadly reentry" as beeing "too difficult"...

Anyone else not really care for the career stuff?
Geneborg replied to sedativechunk's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I will wait till 1.0 to play career (except for short tests to see what an update brings). Right now its just not balanced. -
Its not a placeholder, BUT it will be balanced after "scope completion". That doesn't mean we will like the balance SQUAD aims at, we will get an indication in 0.26 with the new biomes. I have a feeling KSP is currently marketed more as a "experimental destruction simulator" then a game about space/sience. In that context you don't have to leave the Kerbin-System, not even really leave Kerbin. It wouldn't surprise me at all if there will be no need to leave Kerbin System even in 1.0 to get all the parts. Seems to be a bit of a dilemma. Many just play on Kerbin, launch a few rockets, maybe try to do Apollo, and thats about it. To keep these ppl interested you need more stuff to do on Kerbin, and also get all the parts on Kerbin. On the other hand that takes away from the real space challenge, but didn't SQUAD mention KSP doesn't want to be a space simulator anyways, arguing that it would be too difficult (i don't agree btw, but thats not for me to say)?

Last Friday Squadcast - Accidental Information about 0.26?
Geneborg replied to Alshain's topic in KSP1 Discussion
What do you guys think, is this actually a good think SQUAD is doing, meaning looking for mods that fit into "we wanted to do that anyways" and trying to make a deal of some sort (i suppose thats whats going on?)? This would be the 2nd major one, right? Personally, i'm not sure, but lean towards "yes, its ok", simply because it doesn't make a difference for us customers, and if both sides (squad+modders) get something out of it, why not? If this becomes a trend, should it be accelerated to get to the 1.0 finishline faster? -
And again, thx for taking the time to comment. Happy to hear you liked it, there are some shots in there that took some thinkering. Sounds good, i hope it will spark some interest in the game, that would be awesome.
