Those 403s are most likely mod evasive. the more frequent you reload the page the longer you get blocked. I check your ip range against the block list tomorrow.
-
403 errors Ive blocked some ips of some scrapers. I know most users have dynamic ips. so my blocking could be to broad. (Send me a private message via the forum with your ip so i can check and make exceptions) The server also uses mod evasive. So excessive requests can temp block ips. Replacement code development I noticed Thomas has done some work on his code replacement for SpaceDock. Thank you for getting baack to it. @Thomas P. I Dont even recall what i did to my production version but we can find out whats missing by test deploying the github code (I could try to commit/merge the production code). Theres this whole 8 core 64gb server standing arround for month now. And i cant get arround setting it up Downtimes Apache got stuck again. (My response times are alligned with GMT +1 sleep cycles.) Because of reasons (see below) i wasnt able to prepare everything for linuxgurugamer to help me maintain the site (as Sysadmin). In other news Im unemployed again. so ive to give finding a new job priority. (That came unexpected and as always at the wrong time)
-
About the Problem in general (with the SIte): - Im the only one left keeping it running ( Linuxgurugammer offered his help with admins tuff and i will take him up on it. Thomas is always there if i call for him but cant fix the code by himself) - The sites code is a mess and needs urgent fixing (to keep running) and a total recode (adding the simplest of features isnt possible in the current state) - The server im running the site on gets old (its a 2011 i7 with 32gb ram and gbit uplink). A new server exists for some time now but i havent migrated to it yet (time and the issue of it having only 500gb of space and thus not fitting all of my stuff) - Time. Ive a day job (i didnt have one when i took over the site) where i spend 9+h a day fixing someone elses projects for money. When i get home my motivation to spend more time in fornt of a computer fixing stuff isnt that big. But: - I love doing the Site! - Providing Server Resources and maintining complex infrastructures (and in fact fixing them) is what i love. - I know how hard it can be to be young or new in IT and not having the resources to get ones projects going (servers and bandwidth aint something everyone can afford...especialy to give it away). Ive got a lot of connections from my over 20 Years working in IT and my Computer Club activities. So im happy to offer my sureplus to thankfull people (and yes i also take donations of money, time, expoertiese, hardware, bandwidth and so on. Because we can always improve spacedock or give other (KSP community) projects a hand) - I instantly would recode the Site IF: i had time and wouldnt be so afraid of having to migrate the current data to it. - Donations arent only money but show me how important my work is to many (in a number). - I had several instances where i met people in reality and it turned out that they played ksp and used spacedock. Its a nice feeling to hear something like "what? Thats you? Wow, thank you!" - When the site isnt working i often feel like im the person beeing andgry about myself the most. I always expect an angry mob (like im used to at work) to come after me. And EVERY time you ALL surprise me by beeing so understanding. Thank you, its a rare thing in society and especialy the internet. Bottom line: I will continue to keep the Site running, but it needs (code) maintenance. The code is on github. So please help fix it. If you dont know how to code you could learn it this way. I know. And i know positioning of images on the site is a nightmare. I would do so many things differently if i could recode everything. (Remember i inherrited the code from kerbal stuff and didnt write any python for over 10 years till then)
-
i agree about the "who". Especialy because im convinced it was the poor code quality of the site and not the person who is to blame. so basicly: im the red haired herb knowing turban wearing bearded person But ill check the file later to see what the problem was. the error says something about the image beeing to large. If you upload stuff just make sure your images have a sane resultion and arent broken. (But that bug has to be fixed...ill ask thomas when i see him)
-
Found the problem. $someone should realy improve the filter for uploaded images. They can break the site. Please dont break it again until i got some sleep. Thank you I would like that very much.
-
No it will be something realy simple like someone writing a script and failing. Its most likely unintentional. My current problem: each time i start the SpaceDock backend processes the server grinds to a halt and even ssh shell commands take minutes to execute. I currently cant see the reason its hugging all the cpu (there arent even that many requests). My approach is to keep digging and also moving the backend processes to another server (but keeping stuff like files, db and mail on the existing one due to the complexity of moving everything). I then can at least see if its the processes or somethign else interacting with them in an unhelpfull manner. Lets hope for a slow day at work and i dont fall asleep (because i had very little of that) so i can do all of this today. Im terribly sorry for the downtime.
-
Hi, someone or someothing is bombarding the server. im on it but it might take time (im very tired and need to work in the mornung so soem sleep in the middle might occur). I might be able to look into the mail problem while im poking the server. Regarding the mods suggestion: i wished i had more help. Its basicly me doing all the things.
-
Dear customers: Many sorrys. Took me a while to notice too.
-
Hmm die no. But its doing the register/mod updte mails and my families mail too. So its sorta important. It seems like apache was stillr unnign but sort of stuck. Strange thing was, that i couldnt service restart it beacause it was running without known pid. Ive to move servers. This one needs a cleanup that only a reinstall could bring. I wish you a great fastive season too. (Im leaving for my anual hacker congress on the 25th. This time im in charge of rv and camping trailers. I also plan to hand out 50kg of haribo to helpers i donated)
-
The Site has some hickups. Fixed it....i hope
-
get your own domain (maybe with your name) and transfer it to the provider you like and book some email there. (Not everyone goes overboard like i do and sets up a whole email infrastructure just for his family
-
Apart from some need to restart apache every 2-3 month its fine. Im not bugfixing the Code itself (Simply no time) but its open source so everyone is welcome to impriove it.
-
Ok... the code is opensource youre welcome to check the code and maybe patch it: https://github.com/KSP-SpaceDock/SpaceDock Theres also Pwiki running on SpaceDock. it migth be possible to give you the data you need via its api. But i dont know if its able to restrict requests.
-
yes. the cert expired. I renewed it as soon as i noticed (or rather was notified). Sorry for any Kerballessness
-
uhm whats your spacedock username? <- found it (doh) I cant reset your Password for you. all i can do is delete stuff or edit things like your mail adress. I would say, that the system is working like it should. Else i would imagine more people to complain. This might sound simple but are you realy realy sure you didnt have capslock on and such? ps: nice avatar. Ive a canadian flag in my german apartment
-
just make a kerbal language pack as easteregg. Shouldnt be that hard (mod idea if someone wants to)
-
I know shiny new toys must be taken out to play imidiatly SpaceDock now knows about 1.3.1. So give the Mod authors some time to update their code and the info to propagate to CKAN. Thank you for a strong heartbeat from the KSP coding cave in form of this update. I would give it an A+ but i can only afford C#
-
Kerbal Space Program Version 1.3.1 was released 24h ago (Changelog). I just added it to SpaceDock Mod Authors: Please check your mods.

Looks like im Bug hunting on the new server. Debain 9 is full of unresolved issues and the Ryzen CPU seems to cause the server to lock up after a week of uptime. Fun times. But appart from the cost involved in keeping both servers up im in no rush to move. So im trying to make it right before i do (as you surely know form installign your computers its hard to change some decissions later). Im also always open for sugesstions or requests for services to offer. I also want to thank everyone supporting SpaceDock with donations, kind words, help or simply by using it. Without you i wouldnt be able to have the opertunity to run a site as busy like SpaceDock. Its 90% fun (and 10% screaming at Servers/Code/my Bank account) I also want to note that everyone calls the interwebs a mean place without laws full of idiots and egocentrics. This comunity proofs them wrong. I never expected to have so few people missbehaving or raging. So thank you for that too. Special thanks to Greys for keeping me on the list most important to HER. <-insider

[1.7.3] Graphics Enhancements Assembly (GEA)
VITAS replied to Davian Lin's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Please do. I would prefer them not to be on spacedock (ckan files arent mods itself) but you might attach them on the forums and if you cant ping me and we find a solution on where to put them. -
thx
-
Apache got somehoe eneded uop with a bunch of zombie processes and didnt want to restart. I kicked it a bit and its back to normal.
-
If the site is not responding its usualy not intended some longer explanation: Its a good idea to check here if the site isnt working and post if noone did so far. I will be migrate at some point to the new server but i will psot before that if i expect any downtimes.

[1.7.3] Graphics Enhancements Assembly (GEA)
VITAS replied to Davian Lin's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Licenses and issues with them are taken very serious, thats why modpacks arent a real thing in KSPland. We (as in the mods here and on SpaceDock) dont like deleting your links and im sure you dont like having them deleted. So may i suggest offering a ckan file? -
Im German. We dont do Halfass jobs ;P BTWThanky you Squad for managing to offer https for the forums
