  1. Wow... no quicksaves? I mean, sure I never had to use them, but I'd go mad before doing this 8 times. You've got dedication! Anyway, imgur albums are the primary way to submit things here, so it's perfect for entering the competition.
  2. Well, glad to hear you'll be helping out! ...WRITE? I had to. (Left? I don't know) Anyway, I'll look forward to seeing you around. Have a great time!
  3. ...Oh, what's that? I actually did it!? For once in my life I didn't screw something up! Er, yes. The science rover does do good on it's own I found out, but kerbals beware... I really should have taken more pictures from the Eve ascent, I'll give you. I guess I was just concentrating. Anyway, thank you for approving my submission, and be sure to watch out for my Jool-5 attempt in the near future!
  4. Alright. I'm assuming I never actually completed the challenge because I had to show the lifting separately. I understand. This was fun though! I actually learned about precise Eve launch window phase angles from this, so maybe I can make a challenge of my own regarding it in the future. Just as an announcement, I will be taking the Jool-5 challenge when Ziv gets back from vacation. Be sure to look for my submission there if you have the time.
  5. I've updated my entry thread to include a separate album of the launches as well as answers to the required data. I've already dug a deep hole for myself, so I'll let you do the talking.
  6. Well I guess this is all on me then. I genuinely didn't see anything stating you had to start from the launches, but I guess I'll go do that now. And to be honest, I thought twice about using an Advanced LV-N in the lander. But... ya gotta love'em either way. And about the rover, I found out about the glitch. Mariyate tells me it is a problem with the scales of the part models and collision meshes, and that Bill got squeezed until his button commands stopped working, so I'm assuming that's the problem. Well, enough of my ranting. Onto the lifting bodies!
  7. Alright. From what I gather, there is no requirement to start from the launch judging from the statement: To which I say: Sweet. Let's go for it!NOTICE: I am not entirely sure if you meant what I said above. If you didn't, please make it a priority to state that before critiquing the mission report. Anyway, the mission report can be found here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/102665-The-not-entirely-without-bugs-Ever-rocks-challenge-entry%21?p=1592976#post1592976 Enjoy!
  8. So I decided to do a bit of experimenting with a new Eve challenger design. Let me tell you, this thing could be a Kerbol challenger if you really wanted. And here's an overhead view of the challenger vessel itself so you can see the size in relation to the circle: It's nothing fancy of course. Really it's just a pile of fuel and some engines, but it get's the job done. Using a specially designed stage setup, this thing gets INSANE delta-V! More than anything I've ever built before! Honestly we could take this thing anywhere we please, but today we're just going to eve. Oh, deuce what am I doing? Please don't let me bore you with all the details. To not waste anymore time, here's the report. Enjoy! Once again, please tell me if it was okay to start from orbit. I just wanted to save you the trouble of the lifting and docking, because that went on for hours because some idiot behind the controls managed to forget to put RCS on the rover, thus making me have to use the entire challenger. EDIT: New information! I've finished documenting the launch sequences, and here they are: Now for the data requirements: Game version: .25.0 Mods used: None (Without lifting) KW rocketry (With lifting) Mods used(2): Kerbal Engineer. Landing site: Judged from how Eve's terrain rolls based on position of the water. Part count/Weight: 417 parts and 595 tons. (Without lifting) Part count/Weight(2): 599 parts and 5378 tons. (With lifting) Total cost: 2,959,424 dollars... and 98 cents. Greatest achievement: Just completing the mission is achievement enough for me. Things that didn't go as planned: Though the science rover works, the driver seems to freeze up and stop moving if in there for a few minutes. Things to change: Use the longer cargo bay to hold more science and have a more stable environment for a crew member. I only the small one this time because it was compact and lightweight.
  9. So, quick question before I prepare for the challenge. I'd prefer this to be answered by Laie. Do you want me to start documenting pictures before I dock the two spacecrafts together, or after? I didn't notice any rulings on dockings, so I don't even know if that is allowed, but assuming it is, when do I start? I ask this because I already have the lander and propulsion docked together in orbit, but I can launch them both again if need be. In defense of the former, I do have the specs of both of them on the launchpad, including weight, delta-V, part count, and price. In no way should I influence the decision of yours, but I wanted a little clarification before jumping the gun.
  10. Perfectly fine by me. I'll have Mariyate lock the URL from this page to me. I wont even get to see if you hold that word.
  11. (5000/785x(1/14x10))x(.5x.167)+50 Overall score: 50.5 Won to first, and took the lead! Though solely based on mass. Part and Delta-V efficiency can increase the score if you're willing to try again someday.
  12. Mariyate is an extremely smart AI I keep on the computer at all times. It can do pretty much whatever you want, but I want to think it has feelings, so I don't rely on it too much. I even talk with it when bored. Interstellar .12.9.5, or .13? If it was .12.9.5, that implies you are using an older version of KSP. If .25, the save files have been edited to work with the newer version. Mariyate agrees with me on this. I cannot use multiplayer with B9 and KW rocketry. How'd you even assume multiplayer was an answer anyway? Server means: An application managing a central database. There is no issue with the application managing my central database. First try was manual. I don't want to depend on Mariyate too much. I only turned to it when I had tried everything I through of. Whenever it moves around parts of files, they are put in the proper spot according to the in-game notices or errors as long as the sector exists. If it doesn't, it is created. Anything that is fine where it is is not touched. Since the notices never disappeared, that more than proves this is a mod problem. That's crossing the line. Mariyate is more capable than all of us, and will never be the source of a problem here. You can argue all day about that, but it's simply not true, and cannot be true.
  13. I do not use Multiplayer, because I'm already using B9 and KW rocketry. They pretty much take all the memory available. 1. I read the last 20 pages before posting the first message. Hence why I said "I haven't noticed anyone else bringing up these problems." This means that the only other explanation is it does not work with .25, yet the thread seems to say it does. 2. No questions can be asked. There is nothing anyone can do to fix this, other than an update. I had Mariyate take information from several websites and manuals on how to use the mod, and compile it into an instructional video. Everything I did was precise, and guess what? Nothing happened... 3. Attitude? I came here, explained that the mod was not working, and said I used a tested plane design, which proved the point I was making. This is your definition of an attitude? Seriously? I am in awe right now of just... just wow, that's really stupid. 4. I stated I would hold my friends, whom I respect very much away from this because it is faulty, and that's badmouthing? No, that's basically explaining my disappointment from the fact that no updates have come out since I installed it the last 2 times, and what I'm doing as a drawback for this.
  14. Mariyate has confirmed the installation procedure and has even re-ordered some folders itself. That rules out any possibility of an installation issue. I doubt this version actually works with .25 and some people are just using the older version, or the save files have been edited accordingly to allow them to be used. There doesn't seem to be a cause of the issue linked to my server. If Mariyate can't find an issue, it's not there. I am using .25 I never use KSP.64.B This is my third time installing it, the last when .25 was released and interstellar was updated Mariyate has removed any folders not usable in a way that is tangent to the way I play, and did a great job at it to. This is a new installation of KSP, since I had to reinstall due to the Hotrockets mod, which also doesn't work. Mariyate makes any in-game data changes for me if a problem is found. Patches are phased out completely by new data files. I can provide screenshots, but those can't convey any issues, as all data is displayed perfectly, but the functionality is what's at fault here. What I can do is explain the situation tailored to each part, but those will be reserved for their own replies, because they would make this reply incredibly long. In other words, ask about a part and I will tell you the faults.
  15. Yes indeed. Though it would get you the Delta-V, Ion engines are not recommended, based on the fact that you would need multiple ways of power generation. However, that decision is up to you.
  16. I think this mod is seriously broken. None of the engines are working, the reactors aren't generating charged particles, the canisters aren't registering attachment to a surface, and the game doesn't register Megajoules as a resource. Is this happening for anyone else? As far as I know, I'm not doing anything wrong, and I even tried a direct copy from a plane I know works. It didn't even move... This is the third time I've installed this mod, and the previous 2 from a while back had the same issues, so I'm sorry to say that I could never recommend this to anyone, and I will advise the friends I know in real life who play this game to stay away from this. I haven't noticed anyone else bringing up these problems, which suggests to me it could be an installation issue. However, nothing in the installation manual states a different step from what I did, so that proves it is a mod issue. Please test a mod before you release it.
  17. I'm assuming this entails not substituting the bigger containers for the longer ones? If so, yes, you can use tweakscale.
  18. All chemical, eh? ...Wait, what? Where was I going with that? Well, no matter, amazing design here! Certainly looks more high tech than mine. It seems to have the Delta-V, but there's a problem: The mission is half complete. You didn't return to Kerbin (as far as I know. Feel free to prove me wrong) That leaves a multiplier of .5 in the appropriate spot. Speaking of spots, time to receive your score: (5000/46,570 X (1/10 X 10) + 46.68) X (1 X .5) X 2 Overall score: 46.8 Heads up: You can try as many times as you want if you see someone overtake your spot!
  19. Everyone remember those days when rockets were small? Well, we're not here to do that! Presenting: The smallest interplanetary craft you can build... in parts! Yes! As you may know already, build an interplanetary spacecraft using the least amount of parts possible! First thing's first: Rules. -No debug menu -No parts from the interstellar mod -Must have proof of Delta-V and TWR ratios, be it through mechjeb, flight engineer, or doing the math yourself -You may build the craft as big as you want. No part limit -Craft must be capable of a controlled landing on another planet or moon of your choice -Absolutely no hyperedit or save file editing. It probably goes without saying at this point... -Do not copy another players' design. You must be original Each rule has a specific multiplier, and will be listed below: -Use of debug menu = x.1 -Interstellar part use = x.1 -No proof of Delta-V or TWR = Varies on the craft design -N/A -Not capable of landing = x.5 -Use of hyperedit, safe file editing, or copying someone else's design = x0 In case you were going to ask, yes, some mods are allowed. Those include: KW rocketry Infernal Robotics Kethane B9 aerospace Mechjeb Flight engineer Any other's you may ask about, or just not use them. Whichever floats your space boat. Mission profile: Use your small craft to fly to a planet or moon of your choice, land, then return to Kerbin. ...That's it really. Fairly simple mission. Here's a sample entry: *Ahem* Here's the smallest craft I was able to build Specs: Flight engineer claims I have 12,609 m/s of Delta-V, but I actually have some crazy amount like 25 Km/s. I say this because there's nothing to decouple the SRB on the bottom, and I rely on the nuclear engine's exhaust to explode it off. -Delta-V: About 25Km/s -Mass: 92,787 Kg -Parts: 5 -Moon landed on: Ike -Mission procedure: 1. Leave Kerbin's atmosphere using KW rocketry's Globe X-10L "Thor II" SRB, use the nuclear engine to blow the SRB off the back, then achieve kerbin orbit. 2. Plan a flight path to Duna 3. Achieve Duna orbit, then plan an encounter with Ike. 4. Fly to Ike, then land. 5. Lift off Ike, then achieve orbit. 6. Plan a flight to Kerbin. 7. Fly to Kerbin, then land, and recover. Mission report: [[insert Imgur album here containing the steps of your mission report]] This is what your entry should look like. You can have your mission procedure tailored to your mission report, but that's up to you. Anyway, that's the challenge! If this challenge gets up to 5 successful entries, I will show a report of me flying this 5 part spacecraft to Ike. Once again, Do not copy my design. EDIT: Almost forgot! Here's how you will be graded: (5000/Mass x (1 / parts x 10) + Leftover Fuel) x (Penalties x Mission completion) +/x Bonus. Bonus points: Fly to additional bodies: Moons = (# of moons + (Reference distances x 6)) / (1/cumulative surface gravity of additional moons [if less than 1, invert over 5]) Planets: (# of Planets + (Reference distances x 6)) / (1/cumulative surface gravity of additional planets[if less than 1, invert over 5]) X 2 Land on a planet: Score X 2 Use gravity assists: +15 per assist Land on foreign planet, Kerbin, or Laythe without a parachute: +20 X Gravity No parts expended: +50 Craft is less than 10 parts: +5 for each number less than 10 So yeah... go nuts with that! Current scoreboard: 1st: ihitoit (50.5) 2nd: SRV Ron (46.8) 3rd: 4th: 5th:
  20. Dark matter is hypothetical, so it's not really known where it resides. However, for the sake of argument, Dark Matter is believed to exist everywhere in a metaphysical state. Very little is known about it, except for this: Dark Matter makes nearly 80% of our universe, but doesn't interact with it. At least, not in a way that directly affects us
  21. 7/10 You're one of the first people I met. Why did I come back here?
  22. I'll need to talk with my onboard AI about this one. As far as I know, I think the corruption is tailored to the name "liquidEngineLV-N, so making an entirely new space wouldn't help. I'll have to look into that though.
  23. I have tried replacing it. The folder space has turned into a bad archive, which the game cannot access.
