  1. Thank you very much! Any chance you have a link to that discord? I've been trying to locate one but all I ever find is ones for specific mods. Depending on their age it might be better to do modding cooperatively with your kids, learn together. I knew some people that did this with their kids and ended up selling assets for a while to build up for the kids college. I would recommend learning low poly modeling first before moving up to the high poly stuff, just so get a good grasp on the design. I can pm you some youtube channels if you want to start with blender. So if your comparing programming to hardware, power is the main class, OS would be your startup functions and libraries, and anything in between would be functions. Thats super super basic but will allow basic understanding when looking at code. So in c# in unity your main class will be a monobehavior (not sure what KSP's classes are based on), thats your power to start from. Your primary update function will be the OS, anything you need to call within a certain time will be within this. Anything your program needs to do that only fires once will be additional functions. Hopefully that makes sense, I started in hardware and slowly worked my way to software.
  2. W3schools is probably one of my most used resources, helped me learn css, html, and some c# and they have a lot more than that now. Stack Exchange for unity3d or .Net/c# is another good source for c# stuff. Python is what everyone's using for non game related stuff these days. As far as KSP goes, it was easier than I thought to get back into it. Just have to iterate a few times to get working, find out what I can't do and model/texture away. As far as Texturing goes I'm more rusty than I thought, probably ask some of the other modders some tricks if they are in a sharing mood. As far as Modeling, I've been doing that since 2006, and its all about how comfortable you are with 3d. Some people use sketchup, I use blender, doesn't matter that much only matters that you make clean meshes. The cleaner the mesh the better it runs in anything. As far as the list goes for the star trek parts if you can find that please share, I have been looking into building a full nx-01 and ncc body to go along with those engines, probably release them separately so I don't overload Jatwaa's release page with something that doesn't have to do with engines.

  4. @StoneWolfPC Do you have a screenshot of the Spore Drive? All I could find was clips from the show, but none showing what the module looks like. If your talking about the jumping, a plugin would have to be written for that, probably outside the scope of this mod. As far as Star Trek Ship parts, I was thinking about building up some to match the nx parts I've made so far. Heres a screenshot of the current version of the engine nacelles. Includes NX-01, NCC (Original), and NCC Alt (from ST Discovery)

  7. Thank you. I actually adjusted all my engines to roughly half your trek engines because its only one engine and not two. Finally got the right brightness and color to the emission map (though if its off tell me because Im actually slightly color blind). Here is a screen shot, just finished up textures recently.
  8. Preview of NX-01 style engines I'm thinking of making surface mounted, with a separated arm. If anyone's interested let me know.
  9. I give you my surface mounted version! (Basically they are replica's of the Trek engines) But they have multiple colors! I tried to make them look similar to the STO engines on carriers, but I made them slightly more stock-ish. Let me know what you think. Zip If you something from a specific show modeled, let me know, Ill add it with a stock-like texture. ---Removed to focus on NX Engine---
  10. Went ahead and reinstalled KSP, I think something hung over in the upgrade process. Didn't see any of those after I reloaded.
  11. Love the mod! What is your idea on 1.8 support? Also I want to make some additional engines based on these for larger vessels, would you have any problems with that?
  12. Looks like orbital-engine-0625 has an issue with b9partswitch, looks like initialization errors on secondary meshes. I tested all the Near future stuff separately and together, just have to build some rockets to do a flight test in each. Not completely new, last time I attempted modding was back in pre-1.0 decided to try and build my own game so spent several years learning game design, modeling, and texturing haven't made a game or any other project in a while so I thought breaking some of the rust with modding would be fun. He was labeled as debris he wasn't dead though I just had no control over him. type = Debris sit = LANDED However I made a junk save to compare too, the omni's functioned properly so I compared the save file to mine MODULE { name = ModuleRTDataTransmitter isEnabled = True EVENTS { } ACTIONS { } } This was missing from all my long antennas. I added it but they still don't seem to talk to each other. It seems to be sepecific to this save though. Thanks ~Ark
  15. So I had a weird thing happen one of my rockets which had a kerbal attached freaked out on me and converted the kerbal to debris. When I got him converted back to a kerbal and not debris almost all my omnis stopped functioning. Any ideas? Anything I need to look for in the persistence file?
