Music to Launch Rockets To - KSP Music Thread
ToyotaTim replied to Steambirds's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I recently discovered this UK-based band called "Public Service Broadcasting". In short, they make soundtracks to important moments in history. They have made song about moments in WW2. And ofcourse, they have dedicated a entire album to vintage space! Go check them out, I recommend their entire album: "Public Service Broadcasting - The Race for Space" This is their song "Go" about the Apollo 11 landing, also on that album mentioned above. -
RoverDude isn't the first one to do this IIRC. Someone has made such a mod before. And Scott Manley has made a video about this propulsion method/mod on his youtube channel. probably 1-2 years ago.. EDIT: GregoxMun ninja'd me

Nice shuttle you got there! I'm still secretly hoping that Squad will add "slightly" larger/wider/longer boosters (Jeb would certainly approve of this, those would really be badass) to the game. Mk3 boosters if you will, so we won't have to clip and extend the boosters to make them somewhat to scale. I'm not a big fan of clipping haha -
Does is possible to asteroid hit Kerbin
ToyotaTim replied to Pawelk198604's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Now you mention it. Asteroids had a tendency to "float" down to Kerbin because of the soup-o-sphere. And that was kind of a disappointment really. Because you expect a boulder the size of a few buildings with a combined weight heavier than "yo mama" (Sorry I had to say that . Forgive me) to come down pretty fast! But now with the new aero of 1.0.3 and all, things probably changed for the better. Have to try that out once I have the time Ps. My Polish is pretty bad though -
DevNotes: "something rather brilliant from RoverDude"
ToyotaTim replied to AbacusWizard's topic in KSP1 Discussion
To be honest, I was really glad when they finally decided to implement smoke dispersion near the surface. It was one of the features I realy missed in game. As others mentioned, I also put my money on Landing Approximation as well -

Nice (soon to be?) SSTO!! What mod provides the Atmospheric scattering Cpt Sierra? It has a nice (RAM-friendly) look to it! -
Like IRL, like KSP (zero-G unstable spin test by Teflon_Mike)

Hi there! So I was making a trivial rover, builded a fairing and heat shield around it in the SPH, and saved it as a Subassembly to be loaded in the VAB in order to attach it to a lifter. Nothing out of the ordinary, at least in versions prior to 1.0 this method worked flawlessly. But now, in v1.0 the Attachment nodes disappear as soon as I load the subassembly in the VAB. Than I thought, maybe I forgot a (stack)decoupler beneath the heat shield, I added that part, and saved it as a subassembly. Still, same results, no attachments nodes... Am I doing something wrong all of a sudden, or is this a problem more of you guys experience? :-) Kind regards, Tim

The stock parts that you never ever ever use/hate.
ToyotaTim replied to ron1n1's topic in KSP1 Discussion
About the NCS Adapter: In the good ole days this adapter was fine. But now with almost all the parts refitted with updated textures, this NCS Adapter doesn't fit inbetween anymore. TBH I find it plain ugly on the stack. I still use it though EDIT: (I looked it up to be sure: Its textures originate from 0.16) -
Dwagon. Now with 100% more Dracos!
ToyotaTim replied to Rune's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Nice!! A partcount of 116 is pretty good also! Btw, where do you get those clouds from, EVE (it doesn't look like EVE in my opinion though)? I'm looking for clouds that won't obliterate my framerate immediately -
The expressions on the faces of the kerbals is priceless! Like: "lolwhut? what's their problem?!"

As the others stated above, gravitational wise it wouldn't indeed matter. But I think the OP tries to explain if you benefit from a "counte clockwise" (against the rotation of the planet) aerobraking maneuver instead of a clockwise, because during aerobraking you move against the rotation of the atmosphere. Pretty much the same principal as a heat exchanger (If you're not familiar with heat exchangers go look it up on wikipedia, and search for "countercurrent and parrallel flows diagram" ). Instead of exchanging heat more efficient, you exchange speed more efficient because you move against each other, and not alongside with it. I'm not too familiar with KSP physics vs. IRL physics concerning the behaviour and rotation of the atmosphere to answer your question though .

The most defining moments in KSP early access
ToyotaTim replied to One-Way Films's topic in KSP1 Discussion
THIS! exactly this. 0.18 was epic, nothing was the same after this release. One thing though, what do you mean with "ISRU"? I'm not familiar with that acronym EDIT: I figured, ISRU has something to do with the new resource system, still no clue what ISRU stands for all the best, ToyotaTim -

Awesome! I can imagine it took you hours and hours to test and fine tweak the machine before it remotely did what you wanted it to do! -
What is the version of KSP you owned when...

I purchased the game back in 0.17! But I managed to land on the Mun in the 0.13.3 Demo after many trail and errors! (Of course, using the oldskool decoupler/wing-landing gear configuration:sticktongue:) -
Hi there! Finally took the effort to sign up for the forums because of this thread! I've lurked around the forums here since 0.16, back when I played the 13.3 demo I guess! (Yep, that's a long time ago) Purchased the game when version 17.1 was just released. And boy, the game did progressed from there! One possibility why there are so many guests around who decide not to sign up, is maybe they 'just' like reading the treads/discussions, (occasionally) learn from it and keep up with the progress the Devs make. At least, that's why I never bothered to sign up for aprox. 2 years! I though "I have nothing to contribute to the forums, so why should I sign up?!". Well, my answer to that is: because it's fun on the forum, with one heck of a community (Squad is really lucky, and proud, to have such a supportive community)! Greetings from the Netherlands, ToyotaTim
