I tend to go with one launch - build a rocket capable of getting large payload to Minmus, make said payload a fairly large lander with mining gear, ISRU, and maybe a few NERVAs if you want to land anywhere other than the Eve and Duna systems. Refuel at Minmus through mining, fly to Ike with just the lander, refuel at Ike, then go onwards to Jool. Same thing with Gilly if you want to go to Moho. If you want to go to Duna, you can go straight there from Minmus without landing on Ike. If I ever do assemble stuff in orbit, I do it in Minmus orbit as the possible delta-v wastage is smaller.

Re poll: Seeing as those features appear to be independent of each other, would it work to simply release each one when it's ready (so it would look something like 2.38b, 2.38c, 2.38d, 2.38e, 2.40, with releases spread out over however long you need for each feature), or is it complicated to upload files? Also, I've lost track. Is the "terrain hotfix" the one that fixes the bug where people can't land on some bodies, or is that history now?

As a Nintendo fan, I am disgusted. To me, "format: PC/PS4/XO" is code for "mainstream".

To anyone who has major problems with K+: Check the second orbit from the edge of the Kerbol system (excluding Corolet). If it looks like Kal is a moon of Ganag, uninstall K+ and reinstall it again, as 2.3.8 seems to have jettisoned a lot of the 2.3.5 files entirely. The correct arrangement should be Ganag and Kal orbiting around a common barycentre. Also, (and this is not a plea for a bugfix as I know amarius is on holiday and doesn't want to think about this, which is fine) why do the planets between Duna and Jool have such high gravity? Valit (0.55g [EDIT: 0.8g?!] or something like that) is smaller than Duna (0.3g) and yet only the latter has an atmosphere. I can take Pergas - it's got an atmosphere, so I can just say it's made of lead or something like that - but what's going on with Valit (and a few others, for that matter)? EDIT: The entire Sarvin system is fine, as are Faz and Vix, and possibly some of the moons of Keelon. All of the other bodies have weird gravity values. I understand some of them - Keelon is supposed to be supermassive, after all - but not all of them. Corolet, for example. Shouldn't it have Minmus-level gravity or something like that?

Minmus is much easier to land on and has more use in the late game. Mun has an umlaut and a bunch of easter eggs, plus IT'S THE MOON. I'd say it's even.

The Elcano Challenge : Ground-based circumnavigation
Homusubi replied to Fengist's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I might try this soon. I'll go for something that nobody has done yet... Bop? -
It worked! Thanks very much. I didn't have to use the landing technique. The 45-degree angle thing appears to be the key, although I was sort of lucky because burning prograde at my initial apoapsis made something that wasn't too far from an Ike encounter.

My Minmus base mission made me change my mind about multiplayer

I'll save you the trouble of doing the maths. It's Minmus. Minmus is easier. -

When you think pro gaming is the opposite of retro gaming. -
I've landed on Duna with a mining-enabled craft, but can't seem to get it back to Kerbin. The plan was to land on Ike, mine ore, and then leave for Kerbin when the tanks became full. I did this manoeuvre with Minmus on the way out. However, I can't seem to land on Ike - the craft lithobrakes at roughly 100 m/s every time. What is the most fuel-efficient way for a given craft (I can't rebuild it on Duna for obvious reasons) to travel from Duna to Ike and not crash? (My landing site is about 6 degrees below the Dunar equator if that helps).

What is even better than that is to make a ship with mining and ISRU onboard and landing at Minmus before leaving on interplanetary missions.

Class E asteroid with 87%Ore(2500t) Stable LKO (Update)

Well done! Now, to go as near as possible to landing on the thing... -
Ooh, ground scatter. I like the sound of that. Thanks for getting rid of the uncertainty re ETA. Also, what's a PQS mod? I don't have any mods installed apart from this one, Kerbal Alarm Clock, and AutoAsparagus. Also, the only Kerbol Plus world I ever reached was Vix, and the bug might only be to do with certain other worlds.

My solution to Duna landings is to carry hundreds (possibly literally) of parachutes. I never have more than one mission active at a time, making me miss loads of transfer windows. I have left Kerbals in orbit for about 1.5 years simply waiting for transfer windows.

There's no point in removing something. If one person finds them interesting to use, that's enough reason to keep it in the game, whatever it is.

How efficient is your Minmus mining operation? Share your pics
Homusubi replied to vej's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I've started incorporating drills and ISRUs into all my interplanetary craft, resulting in a larger-than-average lander-type thing which is at least Duna-capable. Use 75% of the rocket to get into Kerbin orbit, then use the lander to get to Minmus, refuel, and go to Duna. Refuel at Duna (with loads of parachutes) if you want to get to Jool. -

Still slow... Added Rockomax 16 fuel tank (so overall capacity is now slightly under 1.5 times as much as previously), and excess solar power to make sure all four drills can keep going at once. Are there any planets which are particularly rich in ore? -
Drez. I always pronounced Great House Dres (from TES) that way, so it's only a small step from there to the asteroid.
