  1. Yeah they were awfully quiet! The whine there is just a place holder attached to the rotor itself, still gonna do a proper turbo engine sound effect later along side the electric ones and more prop sounds Also yes, that's the plan!
  2. Blade Count Aware Propeller Sound Effects! Spent an entire day writing up this system. It takes the RPM of the rotor and maps it to the appropriate RPM/Blade Count Range and then plays a sound according to that value. Instead of doing a single sound effect for every possible RPM and Blade Count Configuration, I instead did loops for 8 Blades, 4 blades, 2 and 1 blade all running at 450rpm. I realized that an 8 bladed prop running at half speed kinda sounds like a 4 bladed prop and so on. So we basically have one sound effect for 2 scenarios (RPM and Blade Count). In the configs you would map all your SoundLayers just like what you would do with Engines and Wheels at the range of 0-1. and then you'd give the config two values: baseRPM, value that is used to map the sounds to the rotor speed. and maxBlades: the max amount of blades this config can provide. in this case its 8 Blades at 450RPM. The Configs for propellers are in the part themselves but the logic is processed by the rotor it is attached to. Rotors can also play its own sounds just like wheels. The Rotor sound effect on this video is just a place holder. Soon™ Config sample:
  3. Yes that's me . RSE's ShipEffects is a total rewrite so more like ShipEffects 2.0. also has impact sounds now too RSE is basically an amalgamation of sound design ideas of my two old mods (DynamicSFX and ShipEffects) and it has grown so much more ever since.
  4. Those are RestockPlus parts, RSE Default only adds the new sounds to existing decouplers at least for now. Still haven't work on full RestockPlus Patches its oke thank you! really glad you enjoy it!
  5. Updated the configs again so far its not breaking non-RSE engines anymore that has Waterfall effects. Let me know how it goes with your modpacks. 6. that's probably because of the old patch @Vandest pointed out. it shouldn't happen now with the latest Default Config. Although I do plan on making actual patches for Near Future stuff even using its own sounds on most parts but just through RSE. Forget what i said. you're right, with the new patch, anything that has waterfall will have its sounds removed now despite not having RSE Modules with them. . . .
  7. Thanks for the fix I assume Waterfall ReStock patch should be like this as well. I don't know if this is a compliment or insult but do enjoy
  8. Fixed some bugs specially with Wheel Collisions. I'm not sure if I got them all but so far I'm not hearing any scraping sound effects anymore to anything that's not supposed to be making noises. I also tweaked how muffling behaves with the Orbit Map View. It will muffle the sound with either the Interior Muffling Value or the Vacuum Muffling Value, whichever is the lowest value. For the Default Config Pack, I still have no Idea how I will approach the Jet Engines so if you have any ideas and references please share them! 9. Plugin Update! RSE is getting closer to release. If this update doesn't have anything broken. We'll finally be ready to Graduate to the Release Page Downloads Rocket Sound Enhancement v0.7.1 (Plugin): https://github.com/ensou04/RocketSoundEnhancement/releases/tag/0.7.1 Rocket Sound Enhancement Default v1.0.0 (Config and Sound Pack): https://github.com/ensou04/RocketSoundEnhancementDefault/releases/tag/1.0.0 Changelog Rocket Sound Enhancement v0.7.1 Fixed Music being Muffled Rocket Sound Enhancement v0.7.0 New In-game Settings Window (During Flight) Audio Limiter/Sound Effects Mastering now has Presets Available through In-Game Settings Audio Muffler Presets now Available through In-Game Settings Sound Effects Mastering Presets: Balanced (The Default Preset, Sounds are balanced with Reasonable Dynamic Range) Cinematic (Wide Dynamic Range, Loud Sounds are Louder and Quiet Sound Are Quieter than Balanced) NASA-Reels (Inspired by Real Rocket Launch Footage, This is the Loudest Preset with minimal Dynamic Range) Audio Muffler Presets: Interior-Only (Only Muffle sounds when the Camera is in IVA view) Muffled-Vacuum Silent-Vacuum Other Changes: Handling of Configs has been changed in code. Code Cleanup
  10. Been working on this the entire day. Settings for Limiting(Sound Effects Mastering) and Muffling now have Presets to make things simpler, but you can still customize your own by using the Custom Preset. This build will be pushed to master later once I'm done working on the Saving Part. Available Presets for Sound Effects Mastering: Balanced (Default Preset) Cinematic (Wide Dynamic Range, Quiet Sounds are mostly the same, Louder sounds are Louder without going too extreme) NASA-Reels (Inspired by real rocket launch footage. This is the Loudest Preset, Quiet Sounds are Louder than Balanced and Stock) Available Presets for Muffling: Internal(IVA) Muffling Only Muffled Vacuum Silent Vacuum
  11. Not at the moment . I think I have an idea on how to do it. I'll give it a try and see how it works, if it works I'll push it to the master.
  12. Rocket Sound Enhancement has been updated! The Config Pack is now a Separate Mod and has its own GitHub Repository. The Plugin Mod is now ready for v1.0.0. Just need more testing and Basic Features (like in-game settings) and then we'll graduate this from WIP Status to Release. 13. I've found the source of Sound breaking in-game (eg: engines not making sound). It started happening to RSE ever since I added RCS sounds. The sound limit for KSP was set to only 15 sounds that can be heard, which you can imagine will max out very quickly as you have RSE with a Cluster of 5 Engines + RCS Thrusters. Each Engine and RCS Thrusters uses at least 2 sounds at the same time. This rarely happens to Stock KSP because stock sound is simpler and minimal. I fixed this issue by increasing the Real Voice Limit to 64. I'm considering making this configurable just in case anyone starts having performance issues caused by too many sounds playing in game.
  14. no problem! and yeah stock staging sound doesn't complement RSE sound effects at all. I'm still thinking of a good replacement for them.
  15. it has been moved to ShipEffects.cfg. but this is an oversight I only intended to move the audioclip sources fields. I'm gonna move it back to settings.cfg in a bit. EDIT: moved it back to Settings.cfg. try the new build now
  16. I don't see this happening unless its a Unity bug because RSE is its own Sound Effects System independent of KSP's stock sound stuff
  17. Just Reporting in, currently I removed the Audio Limiter and reworked some of the volume balancing of the engine sounds effects. You can download the build on my git page source (under GameData) if you want to give it a try. Still has to work on new compatibility with Waterfall though. Also removed most of the "settings". Volume is now controlled via stock settings. I tried adding Engage sound effects but for some reason its not working properly. I need to check that later. EDIT: We now have a working AudioLimiter that doesn't cause any aliasing/crackling on sounds anymore afaik! And its pretty awesome too, levels out loud sounds nicely and with the current settings, quieter engines are now louder.
  18. I honestly don't know where exactly, you'll have to find it yourself. It should be within the .cfg patches the Waterfall provides.
  19. Unfortunately, you'll have to dive into the patches/configs of Waterfall and do it manually for now. Once I find time to work on RSE, my config pack will have Waterfall compat.
  20. To avoid confusion, I've added the past config files to the latest release on GitHub. This is currently not compatible with the latest Waterfall. If you want to use Waterfall, you'll have to disable it's own sound replacements. https://github.com/ensou04/RocketSoundEnhancement/releases/tag/0.5.4 Be sure to install both of these: RocketSoundEnhancement-v0.5.3-Configs.zip RocketSoundEnhancement-v0.5.4-Plugin.zip The reason why I separated the config/sound files from the plugin is because majority of the work is being done to the plugin itself. I didn't want to keep uploading the same config + sound files and RSE was meant to be used as a plugin for other mods and other sound replacement config packs. Development for RSE is halted for now but it's almost done to be considered as a Release. I just have to figure out a better way to implement a sound limiter and a complete blacklisting system. Besides that. Finalization of my sound effects and configs will be worked on like adding waterfall support and better volume balance. I might need help at the end to make a more robust in-game settings window.
  21. Yeah i've encountered this as well, Thanks for providing some configs to make Waterfall compatible with RSE. I'll make sure to add it later. This should be fixed once RSE has a more robust blacklisting system. But for now, you could disable RSE's Audio Muffling and just use Audio Muffler Redux Status Report on the mod, so far nothing is broken. for Issues with sounds disappearing that is most likely caused by too many sound sources in the game, this is a hard limit with Unity and I dont know if I have a solution for this. on another hand, I might just remove the Sound Limiter until I find a better solution because its causing issues like undesirable crackling. Maybe I'll push an update within this month, I'm not sure. Also should I compile the mod against the latest version of KSP?
  22. Hi! It's been a while but I'm back to continue working on this. Lemme just catch up and see what's up: It's still WIP because I'm still looking for a better solution for the Audio Limiter and the overall loudness of each engine still has to be balanced. For these, modders can use the existing sounds effects and system provided by the mod via config. although we could work on an overall patch config that applies the new sound effects to most mods. Unfortunately i cant do this alone i can only work on the Mod itself, the sounds effects and Stock with some exceptions like ReStock. I'll take a look into this and find some new errors. thank you for reporting!
